Cool setup with deck and fireplace. I had the Wilson wings and my wife had a caprese salad. Food was good and came out quick. We sat at the bar, service started out good but dead silent after that, no checking, no ask for a refill. Waited 15-20 minutes before I could ask for the check, she drop off and then never came back 5-10 minutes later we flagged another bartender to run bill. Keep in mind at this point they were open just a few weeks. We were some of the first people of the day. Food played to mixed reviews. There were 5 in our group and 3 said that the food was okay and 2 not okay. I just had a cheeseburger and fries. The fries were hot and fresh. I have read reviews on a Topeka Facebook page about reviews that would disagree with me. The burger was so overlooked and dry I could barely eat it. Service was not up to speed. I asked for a second glass of water 3 times and never received it. She was more preoccupied with dropping checks to other tables. We will try again in a few weeks or so. Not impressed with the food. Service ranges from decent to poor. Don't get a Bloody Mary. Most recently my lukewarm mac n cheese didn't come with the breadcrumb topping and the garlic toast tasted like fake butter. Disappointment. I ordered "Hot Honey" wings to go from Johnnys tavern instead of buffalo. Their website just said hot honey and nothing about BBQ, and I asked the guy on the phone if they were made with sriracha or buffalo and he said "I'm pretty sure buffalo" please educate your staff about your menu. Side note: I may not be so upset if I wasn't pregnant craving spicy sweet wings. My husband and I ate there for dine in a couple weeks ago and the buffalo wings we're actually really good, I'm just not a fan of BBQ. read more

This place, walking in, immediately gives off a sporty-cabin-in-the-woods vibe. We're every guy is a douche-bag with a beard wearing flannels and blue jeans. Anyway--Went to eat here 10/23/20 for late dinner and I ordered the Smoked Gouda 1/2lb. burger, I was expecting the cheese to be melted on top, but it wasn't, and now where in Topeka can I get a burger cooked medium rare, not even Johny's Tavern. Service was great. Fried pickles and jalepenos were wayyyyy too salty. We love fried pickles but couldn't finish even half of these due to being too salty. I was at the Topeka KS location for the first and last time a few weeks ago. I was charged $11 for a simple glass of wine, which I consider ridiculous. I don't know if that was the correct amount or not, because the bartender immediately disappeared before I could ask, and I never saw her again. The place was not even particularly busy. read more

This place was extremely packed when I came here, but there was about a 5 minute wait to get us seated, and a minimal wait on our food, which was surprising, considering how busy they were. I had the turkey burger, which was pretty dry, but the Brownie à la mode was really good! read more

Me and my granddaughter went to Johnnys Tavern the third day it opened. The woman that took our order had a raging attitude, she gave us nasty looks and when we asked for something she was very rude about it. Me and my granddaughter ordered the Class Style Burger and the Cheese Pizza, the pizza was overly greasy and had plastic like cheese. My granddaughter said that it was very distasteful and gross. My burger was not cooked to my liking and was also very greasy. When I asked for a bottle of ketchup the waitress rudely shook her head and walked away and didn't proceed to get my ketchup until about 10 minutes later. Will not be returning I would probably get better quality and attitude from Golden Corral. read more

Ordered two meals ToGo from Johnny's located at 83rd and Mission and was greatly disappointed with the packaging. Most places will put your meals in either a foam or plastic box. However, Johnny's just wrapped the sandwiches up in paper/aluminum wrapper which caused the sandwiches to be really soggy and gross. They also stuck the Lettuce/tomato fixings in a small opened paper bag and threw it at the bottom of the sack for it to fall out. that was pretty gross as well. They basically did nothing more than a cheap fast food restaurant. For the amount of money I spent on the meals (over $40), I at least expected them to put some effort in the packaging. I will never order anything from Johnny's again if they don't care about how gross they package your food. But then why should they care? They already have your money. read more

I love Johnnys! Grew up around the original and have loved going there for years. Tonight it fell short. My wife and I ordered several things, salad, quesadilla, wings, and nachos. Granted it was take out, but we were missing several things. No fries with the wings, no ranch for salad or any other dressing. The salad portion was so tiny it looked like a side salad, we ordered a full size. It's gotten so expensive, you just don't get a good value anymore. I'm happy to pay it but get me all of my food. Second time at Johnny's Tavern in Topeka. First time we had a pizza. Big pizza for price. Skimpy on toppings. This trip we tried the Wilson Wings traditional which came with a really good blue cheese dressing. Big wings were very good. Priced right and came with fries also. Also had a club sandwich with fries and onion rings. Both were very fresh. Fries and o rings very hot fresh made. Also had a Tank 7 melt which was good as well. Our server was extremely friendly and kept drinks filled and did everything to make our visit a good experience. i come to Topeka a lot for work. Generally I enjoy Johnny's Tavern's food (sometimes get it multiple times in a week). I get that slip ups happen especially when it's busy, it was not busy or even close. I ordered curbside proceeded to park in one of the 2 marked designated spots in full view of the bar and was the only car there, then waited close to 45 minutes for someone to collect payment, never happened. But there was enough time for plenty of staff (looked like close to 5-6 but could also just be that hi top next to the bar) to huddle around the bar. They got good food and a great set up if anything is gonna kill This location it's gonna be the customer service. read more

I've been here twice and wasn't impressed either time. The last time I went we entered and stood there waiting to be seated. There were two waitresses playing games and no hostess. We got the bartenders attention and she went in the back to get her. Finally we were seated and ordered our food and drinks. Our waitress sits down a couple tables over and gets on her phone with another waitress next to her. Never order to go/delivery from here or at least if you do, check the food before leaving the building or have your delivery person do so. Our pizza was BLACK. Like not a little over cooked, not burnt in a few places, the entire bottom of the pizza was charred and black. The entire crust was basically inedible. I've gotten their crispy chicken Mac and cheese a few times before, and two out of the three times, they've straight up forgotten to put the chicken in it, even though it is an extra cost to get it added. Every time I've physically gone into the restaurant it takes forever to get any kind of assistance. We ate here at 11am on a Tuesday. When walking in I noticed people on the patio playing with puppies. Didn't think much of it. We were seated and after a few minutes our waitress was at the table. However, after our drinks were delivered our waitress disappeared outside and it was at this point we realized the people out on the patio with the puppies was the staff. We sat at our table with the menus closed for about 10-15 minutes while our waitress was cuddling puppies. We finally placed our order and she disappears outside again. This time she remains outside for the rest of our visit. Our glasses remained empty for the remainder of the meal and she only returned to ask if we were ready for the check. Food was bland and just all round mediocre. Won't be going back. Let me be clear, I love puppies as much as the next person. I just don't think the wait staff at a restaurant should be cuddling and holding them while on the clock. They would have dog hair on them and is not respectful of people with allergies. Plus we personally witnessed some come back in and head back to work without disappearing to wash hands. read more

Mmmm i just love that Buffalo Chicken Ranch Sandwich followed up with two orders of Trash Can Tea

My bartender Joelle was absolutely phenomenal, very kind, patient, and understanding to my frustrations. The management however was less than stellar. I received burnt food twice, the second of which i know the GM Andrew approved to be sent out. I ended up getting a pizza i didn't want to avoid a third plate of burnt vegetables being sent my way. I asked to speak to Andrew directly about the situation and my disappointment, only to be told he left. This was within a few minutes of my second burnt dish arriving. I was very disappointed about this development and frustrated about the dish i didn't really want. I made it clear how the situation could be rectified and i would leave happy but apparently a good experience is not top priority to management because i received no care from them. Joelle did everything she could to make this experience better but at some point you expect the ones in charge to do something when guests are greatly unhappy. read more

You know, this restaurant is new, so it's not perfect. Don't expect perfect, but damn they've got good wings. It's honestly a cheaper version of Buffalo Wild Wings, but the wings are better. Nicely coated and to all my ranch lovers.. it basically comes with a bucket of ranch. I've been there twice and they haven't disappointed me. The fried pickles and jalapenos are delicious and once again, RANCH BABY. I also have gotten their loaded fries, very delicious as well. P.S. If you have the chance to sit outside, definitely do it. We sat on the patio that is not busy, waited 20 minutes for our first drinks. It took 39 minutes for our food to be delivered. Apps were delivered after main course. Just had to go in and get our next round of drinks after I had to throw away our empty bottles. Unfortunate way to spend our money, will focus more on the small businesses now. read more

Worst restaurant experience I've had in awhile. They had a waitlist when we got there at about 5pm, told us it would be about 30 minutes. So we decided to wait for a handicap accessible table on the patio for three people. A lot of people came in after us but I started to notice that people that got there at least 45 minutes after us started to get seated and only had to wait 10-15 minutes. Turns out they THREW THE LIST AWAY THAT WE WERE ON. We went there to celebrate my mother's birthday so she was upset and I was absolutely livid to the point I was shaking after they told us it could be up to ANOTHER HOUR WAIT because of the KU game. This was my first experience there and WAS NOT impressed. They attempted to reconcile by setting up another table for us but the food wasn't very good and honestly the server was nice but she kept forgetting to bring me a simple box I asked for 3 different times.. so I don't know that I will be going back there for awhile, if ever. Two stars for the effort to reconcile a pretty infuriating mistake. read more
