Crab and corn fritters
Grace G.

Great food. We ordered the crab and corn fritters, Caesar salad, lobster linguine, and the day boat scallops (special). Staff and service was timely and pleasant. Drinks and wine were great as well. The bar seating was nice but loud. Next time I would sit outside in the screened in porch but it was still comfortable and friendly inside.

Sorry. Only 1/2 of the breakfast. Couldn't resist and stop eating.

Great breakfast. Huge sausages with good flavor. Highly recommend. Sorry, took pic when was 1/2 way done. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

I didn't have high expectations based upon some of the Yelp reviews, but I had received a gift certificate from a friend so we went for dinner. SURPRISE! We loved it. I ordered the Bistro steak, which is a fancy way of saying a shoulder cut, which is another way of my telling you that it's really important for a chef to do it right. It can go really wrong, but they did it perfectly: It was tender, juicy and flavorful. It was also bathed in black pepper which I happen to love. It comes with asparagus, and that, too, was perfection. They were fat (so not at all like the usual wilted waif-like things I often receive when I dine out), flavorful and not overcooked. It also is supposed to come with mashed potatoes and a tomato salad but they let me sub those with fries, which were crispy and good, and coleslaw, which was a nice balance between a vinegar and mayonnaise slaw. My husband ordered the scallop roll which he really enjoyed but wished there was either more scallops or less roll. The decor is cute and modern. They were playing classic soul which we both like. The bar wasn't yet too loud because it was still early. Sadly they will be closing soon for the season but I'm so glad we discovered that they are a great seasonal option in Scarborough!

Still the only game in town, and the game is not good. Mediocre, overpriced, inconsistent "food" cooked by an amateur chef.

Good food and good service but no accessible bathroom. When their porch is closed the main part of the restaurant is not accessible either.

Great spot right down from Higgins beach. Try the lobster roll and the Mango Mint Margherita.

The stairs are a pretty big flight to get up for an elderly person, but the railings are sturdy and available on both sides of the wide staircase, so a person can only use one railing at a time. Today was also different because for the first time ever, a seagull stole a fried clam from my tray while I was walking from picking up my food to a table to sit down. I was about ten steps away from the building and it swooped in and grabbed a fried clam! I can't believe I didn't drop the tray. It happened very fast. We ate the fried clams anyway. Some seagulls claw germs never hurt anyone? Half the red picnic tables were freshly painted. The other half were blocked off with a wet paint sign. The food (lobster rolls and fried clams) and the view (rocks, ocean and rolling waves) were spectacular as ever.

The views from the Lobster Shack are incredible. It's a great place to watch the waves crash with lots of outdoor tables. If you'd prefer you can also sit inside in their seating area and watch the view from one of the windows. They have standard lobster pound menu with seafood, lobster, lobster rolls, and even some non-sea food and vegetarian options. I tried their lobster roll and clam chowder. The food was solid, but it was definitely no frills. It was tasty, but not the most delicious lobster roll that I've ever had. As a heads up, the parking lot can get quite hectic here with limited spots, and the line can be quite long. Be ready to be patient, but overall the staff does a good job of trying to get your food out quickly and placing orders quickly. All in all, the food is decent, but the real star of the show is the unmatched views of the coast.

When we were seated at our table, there was a basket of fresh bread and pastries. Muffins, focaccia bread, apple pastry and rolls, along with a berry butter. The menu included breakfast and lunch items. Although it was early I decided to go for a lunch entree. For my starter I ordered the roasted carrots. They were crisp with a slight char topped with shaved fennel and dill. The two sauces that accompanied them were delicious. The cashew creme was my fav. The entree I chose was the rack of lamb. Black garlic risotto, carrots and roasted peppers were the sides. The jus was rich and had a deep flavor. Very good choice. Dessert was a choice of carrot cake, vegan chocolate mousse or a berry tart. I took the carrot cake home and had it later. It was probably the best carrot cake Ive ever had! We also had wine with our meal. Overall a solid mothers day brunch. The price was $84 per person not including any drinks.

Paws down, it's The Bait Shed! Not only is it a perfect spot for waterfront dining, but the staff is absolutely exceptional. They treat four-legged guests like royalty. Every time I visit, I get my very own burger cooked to paw-fection () and served in a frisbee, with fresh water in a cool red beach pail. Talk about first-class service for us pups! After I clean my plate, I drag my human over to Pine Point Beach for a stroll. Gotta sniff, wag, and maybe chase a seagull or two. Sad news though... the Bait closes on 9/28/25. What everyone's saying regarding parking is true: there's a small lot but even during lunch it was nearly full. Plenty of seafood options and drinks to enjoy on a summer day. The prices were steep, but comparable to what you'd see in most of the beachy areas. The strawberry lemonade was a refreshing and sugary delight. There were two older ladies behind us having the time of their lives with two electric blue colored drinks. The bowl of chowder was a large portion for $12 and a pack of oyster crackers. Salty, flavorful and plenty of clams. The lobster roll was priced at $33/$44/$50ish for amount of meat. My husband and I split the "medium" sized and requested them to halve it for us. It was a good sized portion to share, with chips and a side of coleslaw. Service was neighborhood friendly and on a sunny day, sitting out on the water with freshly caught seafood leaves little room to complain - even if the prices are a little steep!

Art on the wall was done from the bartender's photography. Truly a wonderful atmosphere. The small bar manages to feature a variety of local beers to try, from light to dark, so I warmed myself with a delicious oatmeal stout on this frigid New Year evening. After some waffling, I went with my comfort foods: poutine and lobster roll. While we waited for the appetizers, I spied on other tables' fish and chips and fried shrimp - huge portions both. Promising. Poutine was excellent disco fries. Cheese too melty, gravy too light for Quebecois, but who am I to judge? Delicious gravy for sure. My friend loved his haddock Reuben, with the fish taking up the entire sandwich. Sandwiches aren't the biggest compared to the dinner plates, which doesn't surprise me and is why I ordered the poutine. But very tasty. I dessertws with a few fresh oysters just to top off my holiday experience. Verdict: I have found a return spot in Portland.

I ordered the fish and chips: straight from the fryer, nicely crisp, and clearly fresh fish. The fries were the real star--golden, crunchy, and blessedly not soggy. My only note? A touch of salt in the batter would've gone a long way and really lifted the flavor of the fish. Second visit (dinner), same order... very different experience. This time everything landed on the bland side--even the tartar sauce, which is usually the safety net. My guess? Different cook for the dinner crowd. All that said, it wasn't terrible--just inconsistent. There's definite potential here, and when it's good, it's good. I'd happily give it another shot... preferably at lunchtime.
