If you ask anyone that knows me, they will say I am definitely not a Yelp type of person because I'd rather do something else with my time then seek out businesses to write reviews on them (I'm looking at you wannabe bloggers T_T). But just this morning looking at my gorgeously groomed dogs I remember I agreed to write them a review a long time ago and I completely forgot so here it is! Alo's Doghouse has been grooming my Shih Tzu and Pomeranian for I believe over a year now and they have been consistent in their results. It's clear to anyone who walks into their establishment that they have a passion for animals and will go to great lengths to take care of their clients and their pets. My dogs don't like grooming appointments and have come home exhausted and dehydrated for the rest of the day from other groomers. However I've seen a positive change in behavior when they come home from Alo's. Not only does Alo's doghouse execute their services as expected on a consistent basis, but it's obvious to me that they handle my pets with care because my dogs come home relaxed with great energy to run around and play. Price wise, I'm surprised every time I pay because I honestly expect their prices to be much more expensive. They definitely need to start charging their value and worth! I had a disappointing experience at Johnny's Dog House on Gilbert and Baseline. One concern was that the dogs are not crated, which may be fine for some pets but wasn't suitable for my small, timid puppy. I wasn't made aware of this beforehand and only realized it when I picked her up and found her hiding under the receptionist's chair. I also brought my dog's vaccination records with me, but they didn't seem interested in reviewing them until I specifically offered them. When I picked her up, she was extremely stressed and remained unsettled for a few days afterward. The most concerning issue was that shortly after we got home, I noticed bright red blood in the whites of her eyes, not just irritation or visible veins, there was blood pooled there. I reached out to the business to ask what might have happened. They did respond and initially seemed concerned, but I never received any follow-up after that. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business. read more

Our seven month old havanese puppy. I can not begin to explain how happy we are that we found this spot. Alo's was a complete customer experience with five star service from the time we walked in the door until we picked up our puppy 3.5 hours later. He was clean. Nails done. And had a fantastic haircut. He still looks like a puppy. Our dog is very timid but we could tell the owner treated him with so much kindness. And again this started right when we walk in the door. The owner herself has a great warm personality and you can tell she love the dogs. This was such a different experience then his first haircut which was at a different business. That experience had my daughter crying. Alo's Doghouse haircut has my entire family happy and talking about it a day later. We will be back no doubt about it. read more

Wow! I cannot speak enough good words about this place. I was super scared to take my dogs (fur children) to any groomers after seeing some of the hidden videos that went around on facebook. But this place is one of a kind! They are the friendliest people I have ever met in retail, they were so nice and above all else were amazing with my dogs. My dogs not only came out looking amazing, but they have developed a tight bond with the employees here, and now look forward to seeing them. If there was ten stars available I would give them every last one of them! I usually don't do these review things, but people need to know how good this place is! I'm so glad I could find a place that makes me so comfortable to leave my dogs and not have to worry. read more

The right groomers, the right atmosphere, the right attitude, all of the experience and knowledge... and best of all... the right OWNER! I BELIEVE in Johnny and his staff. I'm fairly new to the Valley and I was a little frazzled trying to find a local groomer I could trust. I have 4... well 3 very sweet dogs and one that's a challenge because he's older and somewhat grouchy. And this groomer put me completely at ease. I know they're very gentle and kind to my babies because when I say let's go see Ashley (she's the owner of Alo's), they just get so excited and load right up in the car without protest. Quite another story when I bring up the vet, but that's irrelevant here. If your looking for a trustable groomer then you can stop searching. They're so very good to my babies you really should give her a try. Absolutely a God send. read more

What an wonderful experience!! My dogs look amazing, they were well cared for, and happy boys when I picked them up. This was our first visit and my terrier and australian/doodle mix were well overdue for grooming. My terrier has Addison's disease so I'm always apprehensive about leaving him anywhere but the staff listened carefully and were so welcoming the doggos ran right to them and I felt so at ease when I left. I'm so happy I keep coming back. I try and take my GSD two or three times a year for a deshedding treatment, she's had four so far and I am LOVING the results. There isn't any hair when I pet her anymore, cleaning has lessened, I only need to brush her once a week now. Also none of vacuum cleaners have broken since we started the treatments LOL. Not to mention how happy she gets, she knows every time when it's pampering day, she smells so good, it's so soft and easy to flow my hands through. I know she loves Johnny's just as much as I do! I can honestly say from the first time I stepped in the door I knew this was the place! Beautifully decorated, incredibly clean, I feel like I'm taking my dog to the spa. I have a miniature Schnauzer, which is a difficult haircut and is always hit or miss. Once I found Alo's it was a strait hit! They are great with big dogs, little dogs, grumpy dogs, ect... Family owed and incredibly patient and loving, you know when you walk in the door your fur baby is with family! read more

Emma had another great visit to Johnny's Doghouse.. Brenton, who is her groomer did an amazing job on her haircut, her new cut being shorter works so well. He's very kind, took great care of her. She looked great and smells fabulous. Brenton always pays attention to the needs of Emma and you can tell he enjoys what he does as a groomer, Its our fav place and groomer !! We have been having our labradoodle groomed and leaving him with Lisa to be boarded and we couldn't be happier. Lisa is warm and caring as well as extremely professional. Austin (the labradoodle) is always extremely well adjusted when staying with her (eating, playful) and is always returned to us looking beautiful, smelling wonderfully and most importantly happy. This was about as good of an experience as I could ask for. My new pup is a bit skittish and I was wanting her first experience to be a calm and friendly one. The person at the door (possibly the owner?) was definitely a pet lover. She was reassuring and made our dog feel instantly comfortable! And when I picked up Myla, she was so cute and fluffy and her tail was wagging - and she had met a couple friends. I will definitely be back! read more

I have probably already posted a review here, but Johnny's Dog House continues to be the best! We have two high maintenance dogs (1 year old Golden Retriever and 1 year old Australian Shepherd). Anytime we are out of town, we board them here and have always had a great experience. They are great with communication and flexibility, as well as always more than friendly. They are the best groomers ive ever been to. I moved to San tan valley and im willing to make the drive for them! Zoey loves them and they even groomed her as a puppy when she had biting fits and petco even denied grooming her. Alos is the number grooming place in Arizona, they have made my mini schnauzer look so beautiful every time and they make it so the haircut lasts! This was our first visit and we could not be any happier with the results. We have owned our miniature schnauzer (salt and pepper) for over 2 years and his beard is still short. We wanted it long because this is the major features of a schnauzer. We just found our little girl (all black) and this was her first cut. The sweetest woman owns the shop! My dog has sensitive skin and she has medicated shampoo that worked wonders for him! She works with all kinds of breeds and has knowledge about dogs and their needs better than any other shop I have ever been to! She doesn't rush the job either like most other places do. This is the ONLY place I will take my dogs to board and get their nails trimmed!! Both of my dogs are rescues and it is unbelievably relieving to know that they are safe and are getting so much love constantly there.
