My dog did not have a good experience. When he was a pup he got into some jumping cactus and had it all in his mouth and throat. He is very jumpy from that and can be hard to handle. I tried to explain that and they hardly listened to me. Acted like I was crazy and an inconvenience. read more

My doggie is very skittish and only really prefers the company of humans. My husband and I were very worried because we had to board her quickly due to a funeral in another state. Alo's Doghouse took phenomenal care of my dog and even gave her a bath and trimmed her nails! They asked about her and what would make her feel better. They asked how she was around other dogs and I could see they cared about the safety and well being of all the animals there. When we picked my doggie up, she was completely comfortable and I could tell she was fine while we were away . It matters to me to have a place I can send her to when I need to leave the state. Awesome! The owner Lisa is very nice and personable and takes pride in her business. Immediately when I walked in it was clear that this was above and beyond the regular groomers. The building is very clean and has absolutely no smell of wet animals or pet urine AT ALL! The prices are much more reasonable than any other groomers I have taken our dogs too. there is no doubt I will take my pet there again. In fact, I would normally not even entertain the idea of bording my pets anywhere, but the next time I go on a grip I will not hesitate to bord our pet there if I need to. read more

I couldn't wait to rush home to write this review! We've gone to a few different groomers and they've been okay. But, we have found AMAZING in Lisa at Alo's Doghouse Grooming. I saw them on Yelp late last night, sent an email asking if they had any openings today and at 8am they responded with a "yes"!! Sophie was there by 9am. As soon as we walked in I noticed the difference in this salon. It was super clean (no animal shelter odor), it was nicely decorated (they take pride in their business) and there were dog water bowls throughout (they care for their clients). They use an 'open concept' but it's very calm. The dogs have access all over the salon, including going outside to a secured yard whenever they want. Lisa said they spend time with the dogs so they get comfortable with their surroundings before they jump into grooming. Lisa is also very gentle with the pets and knowledgeable with the pet owners. My Sophie looks amazing!!! She just got groomed at another facility two weeks ago and she looked too shaggy. Lisa cleaned her right up. Lisa also got Sophie's nails trimmed/grinded shorter than anyone else has. In the past, I was told Sophie's nail bed was too long. Lisa had no problems. On the way back to p/u Sophie I took my cat, Finn, in for a nail trim. Lisa did amazing with him. He was so good for her too!! The prices are excellent. I was expecting to pay much more than I normally do because they did so much more. But, nope, I paid the same as the other salons. They only accept check or cash for payment. I have had a really difficult time finding a good dog groomer for my little old yorkie but with Alo's I know she's in good hands. I tried them out a couple months ago after looking at the reviews and they lived up to it. I told them with her age to be very careful and to look out for a couple of sensitive areas that other groomers always seem to dismiss. Beware! Do not take your dogs here if you love them And want them to be safe. I took a dog I am fostering here several weeks ago for a standard grooming and they gave me an ETA of 2 to 3 hours, and 5 hours later they called me and said she was ready. When I picked her up they said everything went OK and didn't mention any mishaps. The next day I noticed she was limping so I checked her paws and saw that the pads were bleeding which I initially believed was from trimming her nails. I received a telephone call (from her original owners-not the groomers) about a week later that the dog had bit the groomer and the animal control was going to be contacting me. Two weeks later the groomers contacted me just minutes before Animal Control called me. According to Animal Control, Alo's lost my dog and she ran nearly 2 miles to the highway and bit a Good Samaritan trying to catch her and save her from being hit by a car. Alo's didn't tell me any of this and her paws were bloody because of her marathon run. Don't they say animals can sense evil? read more

My new best friend. I've got a Labradoodle and a Bischon mix. I found this place on Yelp and boy am I happy with that search. I just moved to Gilbert and only two miles away from Alo's. I left them there for a grooming and kept my fingers crossed for the return to see what Jaxon and Cali would look like. I was so amazed by Lisa's grooming skills. She's great with animals but she also is great with the scissors. A true artist. I've been there now 3 times in 3 months and every time they look fantastic. I also trust her with a couple of day trips boarding while I had contractors doing my kitchen over. They dogs aren't locked up in cages or crates. I have a husky that I took here twice. The first time I took my husky here, a slightly older lady worked with him and she seemed pleasant and was willing to accommodate my dog's sensitive and slightly-shy behavior. I asked her if my dog was any trouble, and she just "Oh, your dog was just a bit defensive when I tried to groom him, but he was overall well behaved." I was so glad to hear that and she recommended me to take him back in about 3-4 months so my husky can be deshedded for shedding season. My dog looked pretty clean too, just a bit of uneven cutting at his buttocks region (I requested a slight trim at the butt). I scheduled another appointment in 3-4 months, but this time my brother took the dog. My brother told me that a gentleman worked on our husky this time and the gentleman was not happy with it. My brother states that he does not know what happened but my dog was extremely defensive when the gentleman try to groom him. In fact, my brother had to hold my husky so that he can be groomed. We also got charged extra for my dog's poor manner. That is to be expected, but the fact that my dog got as defensive as how my brother described was a shock to me. I have never heard or seen my dog that defensive. He's a sweet and slightly shy dog, but loves people. I do not know what happened between the gentleman and my dog, but I can tell my dog did not like him. I wish that I can continue to do business here with Alo's, but given this experience, I don't think I can. Anyways, I want to thank Alo's for their service, but I will not be coming back. read more

I took both of my GSP's here for the first time. Right off the bat I felt comfortable as the owner greeted me and my pups with a friendly welcome. The larger area (most other groomers waiting areas are small and uncomfortable) in Alo's made it convenient and gave my dogs as well as other dogs space to move and not get anxious. The communication between them and I was great! When I picked them up, their coats looked shiny and clean, claws trimmed up and most importantly the pups looked happy. Nothing like picking your dogs up knowing that they were treated with care and professionalism. This is my new groomer without a doubt as the convenience and trust that was provided by Alo's makes this an easy decision. Thank you all for the great experience. I absolutely LOVED this place!! They were so nice & welcoming!! This was maddies first time going to the groomers & she absolutely loved it. She came back to my fiancé and I looking AMAZING! She looked 2,000 times better than she did when we brought her in. They were so caring and careful with our little pup and on the phone they told us they wouldn't have an appointment available until Tuesday, but then took it upon themselves to make an spot for her to come in on the very same day we called! We are so glad we brought our puppy to Alo's Doghouse and we will DEFINITELY be making this our permanent place to get our puppy groomed. If I were to give them a ranking,. My wife and I are very disappointed in this businesses lack of customer service and professionalism. We've used this business a couple of times in the past. Even though they are not easy nor flexible with scheduling. She couldn't drop the dog until 8:30 am for his appointment? Don't many people have to be at work before 8:30am? She let them know we wouldn't pick the dog up till 4:30-4:45 pm when I'm off work and can get there. She was then called at 10:45am and told they were about done with our dogs hair cut and could we come get him. Puzzled, she said again that we planned on late afternoon pick up. She then told my wife that we had to get him by 4pm. I was then called by my wife and told that we HAD to pick the dog up by 4pm. This caused me to have to leave work early to get him by 4pm. When I arrived to pick the dog up, the sign on the door clearly said their business hours were till 5pm. I asked the guy behind the counter what time they closed. He said 5pm but, when they have no further appointments, they leave early. So, you require your CUSTOMERS to rearrange their work schedules to meet yours? Are you kidding me? Why list your business hours as 5pm if you don't stick to them? How are your CUSTOMERS suppose to plan/schedule a drop off/pick up of their pets if you run a business without firm, set hours? Most people have full time jobs and need to leave the animal all day when they get a haircut. I've had my dogs groomed for decades and that is the norm. Most businesses are grateful for their customers and accommodate them and their needs. Bottom line, we won't be back and will find a more professionally run business. read more

First let me say that the groomers are nice. The man who answered the phone when I called today was not. I told him my one cat is difficult and he said that he'd prefer I take her somewhere else. I told him that she'd already been there twice. He told me I should have told him that first. Why? Anyway, I told him that the groomer reported that my other cat shook badly (when he's always been easy to groom) and he asked if my cat had a medical condition, which he does not. I told him that if the cat shook, it was because he was very frightened. I asked if maybe he could have a gentle woman groom him. The man on the phone got very defensive of the groomer, telling me that he'd had so many years experience and that if he said my cat has a medical condition, he must have one. When I insisted my cat is healthy, he told me it would be better if I go somewhere else. Too bad. I never had a problem with the groomers but yes, I will certainly go somewhere else. read more

I will never bring our puppy dog back to this place for any services. I went to pick up my dog after being groomed and they gave me someone else's dog. When I indicated that doesn't look like my dog, they held up a picture on a cell phone stating yes that is your dog. I took the dog outside and that dog would not come to me and I returned stating that isn't my dog. The guy at the counter insisted it was and said "that is the only dog here"! Things escalated until I leaned over the counter and saw my dog on the grooming table. I had to point out to them that my dog was still being groomed! Would you believe the guy chided me for not recognizing my own dog when I stated it didn't look like my dog from the get go! They would have let me leave with someone else's dog. Great place to board your dog. Very clean place. The people there are great to work with and really care for your dog's well being. I boarded my dog for three days while we were out of town and they did an excellent job of taking care of my puppy. I wanted to respond to the current owner. You were absolutely right to take care of dogs in your custody, however, this was not my dog's first visit and you knowing her behavior still scheduled her at 10:30 am. Even if you have made a mistake of overbooking, why not call me at 10 am on the day of my appointment to reschedule me? I had to take time off, load my dog with bad hips and drive 10 plus miles only to be told we had to be reschedule. My dog will bark, yes, but you do have kennels and I have offered to wait while she was getting groomed. Original post: Current client no more. I loved this place for their friendliness and love of pets when Lisa the owner was in charge. Long story short, I scheduled an appointment for my German Shepherd at the beginning of a week for Friday at 10:30. We showed up only to be told they had too many small dogs and my girl might be aggressive towards them. Best option is to schedule us at 8:30 am. This is not the  first time my dog is being groomed there, why not schedule me for 8:30 am to begin with? Why turn us away and offer to reschedule, so I can take time off again, only to be turned away? Will not be going back. Very sad and disappointed to see great place turned unprofessional read more

I found Alo's quite by accident a year or so ago and now I wouldn't go anywhere else. Lisa LOVES the dogs so much! It's more than a groomers, it's more like taking them for a doggie's day out to be pampered, play with friends and get lots of attention. I had family in town, they brought their dog who was dire need of grooming, the poor thing had to be shampooed 3 times. They were able to get us in quickly and did a great job. Normally her dog is really scared after going to their regular groomer, but she was not scared this time. When we arrived to pick her up, she was out playing with the other dogs, and not in a cage, I think that helped her to not be so scared. Their prices are very reasonable. read more

My pup, Gus, was scared to go to the groomers for the first time, and was barking at the receptionist when we arrived. Despite this, the receptionist was very kind and Alo's agreed to groom my dog. I am very glad they did, as the groomer did an amazing job! When I came to pick Gus up, he looked so happy and handsome with his new haircut! We recently relocated from CO to AZ and we found an excellent grooming team here at Alo's! Love that they allow the dogs to socialize versus being kenneled. We have 2 working K9s - they're both happy to visit and happy when we pick them up. Excellent grooming work from no excess undercoat left (you know when you pick the dog up from the groomer that doesn't completely pull the undercoat and you get hair in your eyes, ears and mouth while driving home...) to very clean teeth, trimmed pads and nails.
