This place was pretty good, you go down an alley and give the password at the door ( in my email), then go down some stairs, pass a kitchen and you meet a silver door. For food they have a selection of small bites, large bites, and desserts. We opted for the Shanghai lettuce wraps on the small bite menu 7/10 due to the fact we had to wrap the meat in the lettuce ( reminded me of sloppy Joe meat), lamb chops 6/10 good flavor I ordered them Medium but I'd say it was cooked less, and chicken tikka which was amazing and delicious 10/10. I had an old fashioned which was delicious 10/10 and came out of a bottle with smoke at the table. Service was good and our server was attentive, will I return? Not sure, this speakeasy allows parties which kind of takes away from the intimate vibe.

A night of sipping craft cocktails, great food and conversation with friends. The ambience is cozy without being too tight. Romantic without being lovey dovey and quaint without the whole in the wall esthetic. I've come here alone and with a group, each time just as enjoyable. My food was delicious (lamb ragu pasta) I didn't take a picture because loaded it to a previous review. This visit I tried the craft cocktails for Halloween and the Gruyère spread with focaccia. I'm a fan of it all. Great service and fun night out.

i've been here twice, the first time i came i had a fabulous experience! food was amazing! ambiance was nice as well! it tends to get very busy! the second time i decided to take some guests with us visiting from another state, i had hyped this place up due to the experience i had.. however the second time the experience, was sub par, my pasta was not as warm which wasn't that great and my guests didn't look pleased with their food either.. i asked the waitress if they had changed chefs, and she said they had.. you could tell in the quality of food difference. over all nice place. maybe i'll come back .. we will see . service : 7/10 food: 6/10 ambiance: 8/10 bang for your buck: 4/10 pricy

Great vibes, cocktails and food, very fun night out!!! And apparently I learned after that they have live music some night

The ambiance was so elegant and was able to get seated even with no reservation. The drinks were really good and the presentation is so fun! I've seen other people get cooler drinks where their drink comes from a plant pot with a rose. Definitely will come back when there is Jazz Sundays!!

I feel like I'm really late to the party, but I had friends in from out of town...thus, the perfect time to try Johnnys. They put us in the best seat of the house (sofa, lounge area), but we were hoping for a regular dining table in order to eat our way through Johnny's. They accommodated us very nicely. From the secret password, to the drinks & the noms, everything was spot on! The old fashionds? Insane in a good way. The dramatic addition of applewood smoke is perfect. We had some old fashioned connoisseurs in the group and they said they were the best ever. The bacon wrapped dates? Mouth-watering. Our table had burnt ends (super tender) salads, crab cakes, lamb pappardelle, lobster/shrimp pad Thai & Wagyu strudel. All memorable! Highly recommend.

I attended a wine tasting event with a group here, and it was a lovely networking experience that I'd highly recommend. We were all seated in their private room upstairs and were each served small pours of 4 different wines along with appetizers in a span of 2 hours. I really loved the first wine the best - an orange wine from France - Cancan Brute Nature Orange. What's great about these events is that you can order bottles of the wine featured at great prices - my favorite was only $15. For each "round," we were served, Johnny spoke to us about the wine, and then we chatted and enjoyed for a few minutes before the next course and wine arrived. It was a great way to spend some time with people you may not know very well, but it would also be fun with friends or family. I was very impressed with Johnny's knowledge, and he was an engaging presenter. I loved learning about biodynamic wine, specific varietals, and the Mediterranean region, which was featured for this event. I'd make it a point to return, especially to buy wine. The food was good - I particularly remember the gruyere cheese dip and the focaccia being really good. Everything was decent but not super memorable or inventive. Just yummy basic snacks and good wine. Overall, a very nice event.

This was a really unique experience! First, you have to find the place. It's a door in an alley where you have to push the doorbell, say the password, then get let in. Warning that we did have to walk down a flight of stairs! They led us back past another door and into the speakeasy. You must have a reservation. We were one of the first groups there, but soon the place was lively and a nice vibe. We only got one appetizer for food which was good, but mostly came for the drink experience. We had a lot of fun trying different drinks not sure how they would be presented to us! The final rose drink even came in a flower pot with Oreos on top. Our waiter was super attentive, would love to come back here again sometime!

On a recent Friday night my friends and I ventured to Johnny's for a few cocktails and dinner. A password is required to gain entrance to this unassuming establishment which has as its entrance a non-descript door in an alley. Blink and you'll miss it! You'll need to make a reservation in order to get the password which is sent to you the day of your reservation. I don't know what happens if you don't have a password. Push the buzzer and hope they let you in? lol The cocktail menu is grouped by your favorite spirit. I started with the Final Rose which was served in a flower pot. Yes, a flowerpot complete with a rose. There is a layer of crushed Oreos because no flower pot is complete unless it has dirt. My second drink was the Rain Forest that was gussied up with a tropical flower. My friend M ordered the Corpse Reviver which is served with great flair complete with dry ice and a skull-shaped cup. I started with the arancini and for my main course a Beef Wellington made with phyllo dough instead of puff pastry. It was really tasty. My three friends split the Alchemi salad, arancini and the Thai Street ribs. I apologize for not getting a photo of the menu. The menu on the website is different than what we had so my guess is that it changes seasonally. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake which was served in an elephant ear. This is the combo I never knew I needed. I will definitely come back to Johnny's.

The speakeasy vibe is cute and all, but the real draw to Johnny's is A) the incredible food, B) their otherworldly smoked Old Fashions and C) the talented wait staff. From the alley entrance to the refrigerated door entrance, to the club, the speakeasy vibe was really nice. Once inside the ambiance and the food takes center stage. Johnny doesn't have an extensive menu but everything on the menu is done exceptionally well. Personally, I prefer quality over quantity and the quality at Johnny's is fantastic. I had the Wagyu beef strudel that literally melted in my mouth. Johnny's has an extensive bar. You can order aged, top shelf or well and all levels in between. Their signature cocktail is the smoked Old Fashion. It was the best Old Fashion I remember having. The third reason to make Johnny's a "must see ' in Royal Oak , is their excellent wait staff. David greeted us at the door and accommodated our needs. Chris, our server, was awesome. We were well attended to. Going into Johnny's I had no expectations. Coming out I have nothing but kudos!

This cocktail bar is small, low ceiling with low lighting, and simple decor. Their menu is a small book of interesting, and priced as such, cocktails. Each has a fun name. They do offer a small list of beer and wine, and obviously you can order a standard drink as well. They have a few snack offerings, but there is no full menu. A friend and I went at the right time, the late end of happy hour on a Friday, but before any crowd. We did not have a reservation, but they were quiet when we arrived and we were seated immediately. They do have a 90 minute table limit for busy nights. The service was fantastic all around. We both enjoyed our drinks and the atmosphere. This may be the best place in Rochester for a drink.

I love the little speak easy bars popping up all over the city, it is a fun way to use the space. During the day, this is a hallway that leads to a barber shop, then turns into a bar during the evening. I loved the dark aesthetic, with the black lace draped tiny lamps at each table and the slightly spooky Halloween vibe. The people working here were incredibly nice and helpful and very eager to serve drinks and make this a fun evening. We came as a pre-dinner cocktail, since I am trying to eat around the city and visit as many establishments as I can. I liked their very themed menu, and their additional Halloween drinks. They had a lot of very creative types of infused liquors to try, ranging from candy infused to meat infused alcohols. But we went for the very standard espresso martini (since we are trying them at as many places as possible) and a very tropical martini. The espresso one was good, not quite at the top of my list, but I am a very big fan of Dessert Oasis, which is right above this bar and I am told shares owners. The tropical one, called For My Fans, was excellent. I would get that one again. This seems like a fun place to go, especially with friends, for quick a drink and to try new flavors.
