BEWARE!! BEWARE!! BEWARE!!! Subject: A Cautionary Tale…read moreRegarding B and G Auto Dear Readers, I feel compelled to share my unfortunate experience with B and G Auto, located at 2206 E. 75th Street, Chicago, IL, in hopes of preventing others from encountering similar frustrations. Overview of My Experience: 1. Initial Breakdown: On July 1, 2026, my vehicle began to overheat and leak transmission fluid, prompting a call to AAA for a tow. After consulting several local mechanics, I chose B and G Auto based on the owner's assurances of immediate diagnostic services. 2. Relocation Confusion: Upon contacting the shop, I discovered they had recently relocated from Harvey. I agreed to have my vehicle towed to the new address, hopeful for swift assistance. 3. Lack of Communication: After the tow, I experienced significant delays in communication. The owner, Alverdis Alexander, failed to respond to my calls for about 20 minutes after taking my keys. When I finally reached him, I was met with vague reassurances and no clear updates. 4. Further Delays: Despite their advertised opening time of 9:30 AM on July 2, I received no updates until I called at 1 PM. When I arrived at 1:45 PM, my vehicle remained on the street, and I was unexpectedly charged for a battery charge, which had not been previously communicated. 5. Repair Pricing Discrepancies: After initially agreeing to necessary repairs (starter and transmission lines), the cost escalated dramatically when the owner informed me of additional issues with the fan. I felt pressured to approve these unforeseen expenses, and when I requested to pay at pickup, the owner's reaction was unprofessionally irate. 6. Post-Service Complications: After retrieving my vehicle on July 4, I encountered immediate issues, with the car stalling shortly thereafter. Despite several attempts to contact the owner, I received minimal assistance, culminating in a suggestion that I might have blown a head gasket. Conclusion: This experience has not only caused substantial inconvenience but has also led to unexpected financial strain due to uncommunicated repairs and unsatisfactory service. It is crucial to bring these practices to light, as they can significantly impact other consumers in our community. I urge potential customers to consider these points carefully before engaging with B and G Auto. Ethical business practices are essential, and it is my hope that this review prompts a necessary review of their operations. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Montage Pheloan

Just this past Saturday I was in Crestwood, IL visiting my dad over spring break. I was planning on…read moreleaving that day as I had to get back to my home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I had the belt under my hood snap. I scrambled to find an auto repair store and I stumbled upon D & D Transmissions. A man named Dave came out and looked at my car. He diagnosed the problem right away and told me he could fix it within the next 3 hours. I would also like to add that when I looked at the store hours posted on the door his shop wasn't supposed to be open that day, but he gave me the help I needed. Sure enough he gave me a call an hour earlier than expected and said the car was all set to go. It was fixed up and I traveled home that same day with no issues! I give my highest regards to Dave and D & D Transmissions for helping me out in a time of need!

Recently I was having trouble with my truck's transmission. It was causing my truck to be sluggish…read moreduring acceleration. Regardless of the issues I could not get anyone to answer my cries for help on the normal online forums. Maybe the symptoms were something folks have never experienced? Regardless, I have an aftermarket transmission which makes me nervous about going to the dodge dealership. I noticed positive reactions on Yelp for D&D Transmissions and decided to try them out. I noticed that D & D does much more than just transmissions. The owner was very respectful of my worries and my controlling attitude. I normally like to do work on my vehicle. But due to my living conditions I cannot do this type of work. I came to him with an idea I had a failing governor solenoid. The owner quoted me over the phone for the work before he even had time to look at my vehicle. I dropped it off and he did some quick diagnostics, called me back before doing the work, and then proceeded to follow my wishes. His quote was decent at $400. This included replacing the governor solenoid, governor sensor, fluid, and the transmission filter. Just the cost of parts would be between 200 and 300 dollars. The job was completed within a decent time frame and they accept all major credit cards. After all the details above, I recommend D&D Transmissions. Although I have only one experience with the repair shop, I will be going back with any vehicle issues. It is difficult to find trustworthy auto shops around this area. Most are mainstream "chain" repair shops with people that don't care a lot about the work they do. D&D clearly has an owner who is caring and takes pride in his work.
