Table for 16! We needed a spot for a family outing and we immediately thought of John's Bar & Grill. The food was really good however the service wasn't the best. It took over an hour to get our food, but I guess that is to be expected with a table as big as ours. I normally would have sweated it, however we had young ones and they were not having it. I had fish with vegetables both were cooked to perfection. I will try again with a smaller group to see if they will get that last star. read more

Good solid bar menu. Friendly service I tried the French Dip with french fries. Shared some wings and hummus as appetizers. Ambiance is nice, with the exception of the smell. The entrance area has a strong overpowering odor of cleaning products. We went to John's Bar for lunch. I ordered a cheeseburger with bleu cheese. The burger was so overcooked (burnt) that I could not finish it. The bun was stale. The server promised to take care of it and came back with taking off 1/2 of the price of the burger. I was not happy. read more

Went last night for dinner. Really not impressed with food. Pretzel appetizer with cheese, generic. Land burger itself was good. Not great. Mushrooms and jalapeño right out of can. Servers were very good and attentive. Atmosphere friendly. read more

My Wife and I love John's. The food is always good. Service is normally very good. We love they brought most of the old ambiance from the old place. The biggest downfall is the noise. The last few times we've been there, the noise was too much to bear. You couldn't here the server and we were unable to carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to you. It's been over a couple months since we've been back, even though we live about 2 miles away. Have no plans of going back any time soon due to the noise. read more

So stinkin' happy to see John's open again in a cool location, occupying a spot in the new and improved Oakwood Plaza. The chips with dip make a great starter for the table. I'm partial to the rueben, onion rings and salads. Friends love the skins, French dip, and burgers. John's is just one of four eating/drinking establishments in a row, so you can do a pub crawl and try them all. Or...check out John's for breakfast because they open at 7! Oh, and please note that they are closed on Sundays, which may sound strange but if it keeps the workers sane it is worth it. read more

The 5 of us all had different menu items and each one was terrific. From the burger to the scrod and bbq rib tacos, it was all perfect. I was at John's on Saturday June 8th -the service was horrible- we sat at the outside bar waited over 10minutes for someone to wait on us & no one did. We then went and sat at the inside bar and the bar tender was horrible-she was rude, interrupted my wife when asking a question about the crab cakes on their special's menu. I asked for an ice water she forgot, and I ended up asking one of the girls who was bringing out glasses from the back if she could get it for me. The bar tender never apologized for forgetting. Our food took forever and let me add they were not that busy. We were the only ones sitting on that end of the bar and there were tables open throughout. We noticed another couple sat at the outside bar where we started, and the bar tender was quick to get someone to them. We ordered appetizers that came with our food not before. We got the zucchini planks-gross no flavor. The only thing good was our burger. What is disappointing is that the owner/manager was sitting at the end of the bar where we were sitting and when I made the statement about not coming back ever again (because he had changed the tv from baseball to golf and then went to change it back for us-we actually told him don't bother and that's when I said we won't be coming back) he didn't say anything to us. I can't remember the last time we had bad service like this. If I didn't know any better, I would say you are anti- LGBTQA+. The bar tender is lucky I tipped her at all because I wasn't going to. I was going to leave a note on the receipt, but my wife stopped me and pointed out if they cared the owner/manager would have said something to us. He was too busy watching everything, along with getting his food and beer, and then a woman joined him and the two were whispering. You should be ashamed of how this experience was. Haven't been here in 15 yrs tonight i brought my son and mom....very good service friendly lady to greet us...nothing fancy abour interior but i prefer that. Went here for the first time last night and loved it! We got heggys nut sampler for an appetizer, and I got ribs and home fries as my meal. It was all very good and those home fries were amazing! Got peach cobbler with ice cream and mint chocolate cheesecake for dessert, sooo good!! Staff was very friendly too, definitely recommend...I'll definitely be going again. read more

This review Is for a lunch visit. John's has been around forever and I have not been there for 20 years. Although, when I walked in it seemed exactly as I remember it and that is a good thing. This is a great neighborhood bar / restaurant that serves solid food and has good service. Their soups are homemade and the menu has a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which was spicy and loaded with fresh lettuce and tomato. The salads are large and tasty. I hope this place stays just like it is! read more

My husband and I were in Canton for a night and I found this place on Yelp. The reviews were mixed on Here but I don't normally trust them so we gave it a try. So glad we did!! This place is a gem!! The staff was great, the food was awesome!! Very much like a Cheers bar!! The local folks welcome everyone! Ana was our bartender and couldn't have been nicer!! We ordered the calamari for our appetizer and it was absolutely amazing!!! A must try!! We each had a different burger and onion rings and they were awesome as well!!! Ordered a medium California in Canton. The well done burger came with no avocado. After I choked down what I could I remembered it should have had avocado. Asked about it at bill pay and was told we are out of avocados today. The one ingredient that makes it a California hamburger! Then she proceeded to belittle me by offering to take off the $.50 which she claimed was the difference but is not. Ate outside on beautiful evening with car show and dj, but they chose to pipe their own crappy clashing music over that. Not going back. read more

Buddy and I stopped at the recommendation of another friend that has been going there since his college days. Soon as we walked in you get the sense of the older decor but has a great look and feel. We were sat quickly and our waitress was right there taking our drink order. Good beer selection! I got the French Dip Italian Beef with fries and my buddy got a burger with sweet potato fries. No complaints! Missed the specials listed on the back of the beer selection menu. Saw a couple items I would've considered so I'll be going back! Such a great spot that's out of the typical dining places in the area. The atmosphere fits the name & that's it's a little more "vintage" feel, but has kept up with some dining trends. They have some good, unique craft beers on tap & a pretty trendy cocktail list. Service is usually good, but can be a little slow at times. Everyone is friendly & helpful though! As far as food, the French onion soup is by far the best I've had! Their ribs are great & huge! Burgers are good, fries fresh cut & salads are good with homemade dressings. We are so happy that John's relocated to Plain Township. We enjoyed a family get together tonight. We started at the bar where the service was excellent, and then moved to our table to enjoy the usual great food. My shrimp was very good, my husband like his steak, and one daughter recommended the filet mignon while another enjoyed a fettuccine dish. The desserts looked delicious. We ate here shortly after it opened. Food and service were fine. However, just tried to order carry out at 5:30 on 2/19/22 and was told they "weren't doing that today". (We had tried on Valentine's Day and were told, not doing it because of Valentine's Day, it was around 4:00.) My husband asked the employee, a male, no name given, if they EVER do take out and the man said "depends on the day". What a flippant attitude! Have enjoyed myself alone, with a date, with family, friends and even children. Unique combination of rooms, tables, booths and even privacy. No long waiting for lunch/dinner to arrive. Top shelf bar and dining areas now overseen by the fourth generation of the same family. Friendly and always good service. Filled with locals but others always welcomed and will leave as friends. Havent been here in years... had to drop a buddy off over by 19th st.. so we decided to eat here... so i ll start off with the only thing that made me mad... Our waitress never told us the specials?!?!? Even though she did a terrific job she forgot this very important piece! They had an item on there i wanted but i already ate my dinnner!?!!? Besides that the porm chops were fantastic, the old lady ordered scrod which she said was pretty good, and my daughter ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap which she said was a little too spicy but she ate it all... Sharon ,I always looked forward to Friday because John's has THE BEST potato soup, I got it every Friday as well as take out for my co-workers at the eye surgeons office downtown but they have changed it, who makes it, Idk but it's recently not very good at all and it was basically a tradition, but we won't be ordering it again unfortunately and it's kinda sad, the original was creamy and delicious and now it's super chunky and way too many onions. read more

Beautiful new location. It was our first time here. All was pretty good. Food was hot and came out fast from the kitchen.
