These are the best cheesesteak sandwiches I've ever had. I've been coming here for years and they never disappoint.

I ordered the the basic cheesesteak and the meat tasted like ground beef not actual steak.

Hidden in the back of MCD and Taco Bell, a local spot. The food comes out pretty hot! You can burn yourself. The Philly Steak Sandwich was average, bit bland and not much flavor. I had to add extra hot peppers for a savory flavor. The bread was above average and the meat was broken down almost into ground beef texture... not the way I like it. The Chili Cheese fries was horrible, who uses bean chili for Chili fries? and the Cheese poppers were not that good, just came out temperature hot. read more

I stopped by to try their cheese steak. I went in to order a to go order. The employees are helpful and friendly. Once I unwrap the cheesecake it looked delicious. The bread had a good bit to it and held the meet and cheese without out getting soggy. The meet had a good flavor and the quality was amazing. I'll be back to try more from the menu read more

If you go to seal beach or live in the area this is a must have! Service was 10/10 called ahead to pick up my food before going to the beach, was quoted right on time and picked up my food and before i could even ask ketchup ranch and napkins were already included in my bag. I ordered 2 sandwiches, one half and one whole. Whole is perfect for sharing between 2 people or if you have a big appetite, half was perfect for a lunch sized portion and they do NOT skimp on meat the sandwich was packed with steak and cheese. Love this place! Small sandwich shop in a strip center close to the beach. The service has been great the couple times we have been here. There is a girl that works at the register that takes our order and she is great! They make everything to order and it comes out hot! The full sandwich is big, definitely large enough to share. Great sandwiches and service. The girl behind the counter was super helpful and nice. We decided on the Godfather and the Philly Cheese w/grilled onion and spicy peppers. Wow! Never would've guessed this tiny hole in the wall place would be so good, but these Philly cheesesteaks are super authentic and delicious! I got the whole "the works" cheesesteak and it was loaded with meat and so big that I ate it for two meals. I also got side of fries and shared fried zucchini with a group. Honestly just the sandwich one was a lot and very heavy, so I don't think any sides are needed (or get the half sandwich). Will definitely be coming back! read more

I saw a great review and thought to try this place. Generous portions, great staff, and flavorful sandwich filings. My son wished there was more cheese on the original Philly cheesesteak, but I thought that it was quite good for just meat and cheese. "The Works" was an amazing amalgamation of flavors and very juicy. The chili cheese fries were not abundantly covered with chili or cheese, but we were okay with that as we both liked the fries, but not the chili (it was sweet and all beans.) The combo appetizer platter was a nice combination and perfect for two to share. There were two each mozzarella sticks and fried wings, and five each fries mushrooms and zucchini disks, as well as ranch, marinara, hot sauce, and BBQ sauce for dipping. The first time I was here at seals, we were grabbing food from McDonald's and saw John's Philly. I had it bookmarked and then when we were at seals this time we decided to grab food from here. Due to covid, no indoor dining. We got our food to go. Got their "The Works" and chili fries. I have to say that I've never had Philly sandwiches before and I popped the Philly here lol. It was amazing and loved every bite of "The Works" sandwich. I got their half size but sure to say it was enough. The chili fries on the other hand was a disappointment to me. Would have rather had it with French fries instead of steak cut fries. But bland for me. But that doesn't so me from checking out rest of the menu in the future. Worth the stop. read more

Fire, fire, fire!! My go to is whole Cheesesteak, fried onion, salt, pepper, mayo, gutted roll, provolone. Its a bit of a drive from LBC proper, but def worth it. Downside, they charge like $5 for extra cheese, which in today's climate might call for a ballistics report in philly, (poor taste joke I know), but if you are looking to do some west coast Sambonin, this spot should be on the list. read more

Love this place so so so much! The food is always consistently good, the portions are humungous, and employees are friendly. I can't ask for anything more, other than them to open a location closer to my house, but maybe one day. I'll keep dreaming until then. I've come before closing, super busy, in the middle of the afternoon, not busy at all, the weekends, the weekdays, and you can always expect consistent food and good service. Their fries are so so so good. Nice, thick cut fries, and you can get them topped with grilled onions, peppers, cheese, and steak as you would like. Also, their ranch!!!!!!! I don't know if they make it in house, but it's so good. They also gave us some of this awesome tasting vinegar sauce last time, and while I have no idea it was called, it was delicious with the fries. Their sandwiches are huge, especially if you get the big size. They're easily two meals worth of food. If you're a vegetarian, they also have a veggie hoagie that is filled with all of their fresh veggies on their traditional hoagie roll. Overall, love this place! I will keep coming here. I came here last Sunday for lunch after craving John's Philly Grill for months, and man was I dissapointed. My mushroom cheese steak was not good. The sandwich was a wet flavorless mess. Right when I picked the sandwhich up, it was a soggy mess. Once I bit into I could see why. The juice from the mushrooms and onions were running free and soaking every aspect of the sandwich from the meat to the roll. You know how when you have a cheese steak, the onions are little flavorbombs the same way they are at In-n-out? Well these onions were not cooked this way. It looked more like they cut up raw onions and cooked them with the steak. So instead of getting nice charred grilled onions I got soggy limp onions. Same with the mushrooms. Instead of thin cut mushrooms that are cooked until most of the moisture is gone. I had a bunch of quartered button mushrooms that took over the texture of the sandwich. I was really disappointed. I order a fair amount of cheesesteaks from random sandwich shops and this was on par with italian delis that just kinda include the cheesesteak on their menu as an afterthought to their meatball, sausage, or parmesan sandwiches. I definitely did not expect this from a shop that specializes. In fact, I love the shop on Beach Blvd and have never had this issue there. Real shame, I'll probably come back and hope for the best. But whoever was on the grill around 12:00 09/04/2022 really missed the mark. read more

That garlic sauce that they have bottled up and placed on top of each table is good stuff. If I were bigger on sandwiches, I'd probably be here all the time. Regardless, they are worth repeating. A hidden gem! If you're cruising into McDonald's or Taco Bell you should drive a little past their drive-thru and BOOM! you'll see Philly Grill. Just because it's small doesn't mean it's not packed with all the key ingredients of a sandwich everyone loves. Now I ask myself why I didn't try it earlier and why I suffered through so many late night hamburgers when I could have been eating the delicious Philly cheesesteaks, toasty sandwiches (turkey is really good) and the pastrami. I grew up in Philly for 21years, been in Socal the last 15years n you guys were always my spot to go! The last 3 times i had it delivered, it was basically disgusting! I can eat a whole cheesesteak no problem, i couldn't eat a quarter. Just got the basic steak & cheese with grilled onions. It was an onion n cheese sandwich! Had heartburn for hours from all the onions.. plus the cheese fries looked like they just threw a slice of cheese n melted it for 2 seconds! i will no longer be a customer. Sorry Johns! But Phillys best is more $ but wayyy better quality. And $4 for tastykakes? In PA u can get a whole box of krimpets for $4! Sooo bummed with u guys read more
