As we ordered we saw the same reliable grill man at work over the succulent meat and cheese and veggies. When the sandwiches and fries arrived we dove in and HOORY! This is a cute little place, very fast service. There was a steady flow of customers both eating in and taking out. Onion rings and fries were very good. I asked for extra cheese on my Original Cheesesteak and it seemed like just a regular amount of cheese. Maybe other places have been more cheesy. This place uses provolone, but I'm more of a Cheese Whiz girl. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it had cubed chicken, possibly from US Foods. The sauce and cheese were ok but not something he would order again. Overall, it was a nice lunch but we were happy we'd only ordered half sandwiches since we didn't neccessarily want leftovers to eat the next day. read more

I'm not a cheese steak connoisseur so I can't really say if it's the best in town, but it hit the spot for me and just so happen to have the Eagles game on at the same time. No frills spots with hot and fresh cheesesteaks and fried zuchs! This is our families' favorite post-beach lunch. There's a few tables for seating but we generally order to-go over the phone, pick up and eat in our car on our way home as the kids are usually ready for their nap time. We order "the works" for us adults, a plain half cheesesteak for the kids to share (13m and 3yr old) and a side of fried zucchini w/ ranch every time we are here. I must say i had many many good philly cheesesteaks but this place has made one of the best i ever had and i mean it! Get the the large, its soo much good stuff going on here. I ordered the number 4 "the works" and it was just fantastic, also got an order of onion rings which was good to and comes with ranch. They have a couple of TV's inside to watch games and they have a nice outside seating area. The bread was soft and plenty of meat inside with green peppers, mushrooms, onions and hot peppers, just incredible. The customer service was great and friendly. I got soda from the fountain machine which was flat and they corrected it right away changing what needed to be change to make it fresh tasting. John's is located behind the mc donalds so if you're coming down PCH its behind it. Definitely a place i will be back to try other items and you should to! I am really disappointed with this new management. The hoagies are not the same as they used to be, Meat is stored in a plastic container, and I have no idea when it was sliced. Ordered a double meat (Guido) hoagie and got a single. After reading other reviews it seems the cheesesteaks are ok, but I will never know as the awful hoagie has turned me off from this shop. read more

This spot was BOMB. Came in with my husband and toddler for a spontaneous lunch date. Located in a low-key maze-like plaza, it wasn't too difficult to find and there was plenty of parking. We tried: The Godfather Sandwich - I decided to try this one and, guys, IT WAS SO GOOD. Hearty and spicy, loaded with meatballs, sliced hot Italian sausage, and a whole blanket cheese. The bread is amazing, soaking up all the greasy saucy goodness. The marinara sauce was thin and a perfect compliment to the savory and rich meats. South Philly - my husband ordered this one as he had never seen a cheese steak like this one, and I could tell he had his regrets. The steak was delicious (in fact, everything was) but the marinara sauce just didn't hit for this sandwich. He still ate the whole thing though. Grilled Cheese - an inverted roll stuffed with tons of cheese and toasted on the griddle. My toddler can be pretty picky even about things he loves, and he DEVOURED this. Half a sandwich was good for him. Fries - thick cut, salty, and piping hot. These fries were flawless. Fried Zucchini - little medallions of deliciousness. Super fresh and deceptively hot. Pretty sure I burnt my mouth on these, pretty sure I don't care. Their ranch was yummy too. Their half size is MASSIVE. The price point is excellent for the quality. Service was friendly and accomodating, and the space while dated was pretty well kept and clean. We will absolutely be back. read more

Stopped here on the way home from an Appt - I got the full size Philly Steak with cheese, mushrooms, onions, and peppers w/a side of fried zuchini and 2 ranches. Could barely finish the 1st half - so good for my 1st time visiting. Will definitely be back to sample the fried mushrooms and fries. This place used to be good but kind of sucks now. Half the sandwich was soaked. Paid for the whole and tossed most of the soaked half after dumping out the contents. The meat was completely flavorless. They don't put very much cheese at all on the Philly cheesesteak. That's kind of the point. It's expensive and not good anymore. I'd rather support them over a chain but can't really justify it. I think the HB location is still good though. read more

They are take out , so do not expect to sit and eat , but do close to the beach you could walk to pier and sit , take in the sites , relax and enjoy. I got robbed. Spent $20 for a cheesesteak with peppers and onions. It came out undercooked and really soggy. Sent it back to get remade and the second sandwich was pretty much the same. Clearly the new management does not know how to make cheesesteaks. They also didn't put any money into the restaurant to make it less of a dump. Also, the fountain drinks tasted off. read more

So I came to eat a Philly Cheese here and it's 63 degrees outside and kinda chilly inside their establishment with the door open. I asked if I could close the door only while I was there because it was quite chilly and I was eating inside and didn't want my food to get cold quick. Meanwhile the girl that took my order, took a break outside and reopened the door that I had just closed. Look, if you didn't want it closed, just say so. Don't go outside, reopen the door and leave it open. A considerate person would have closed it knowing I just asked to close it because it was chilly. Suggestion: Get better ventilation! Ummm....what!?? Wow. I stopped in about 30 minites before closing (sorry to be THAT guy), and the lady behind the counter was so nice and happy to make my order. I went original to try it out. She made the sandwich with a smile and even brought it to me at the table, ao the service won me over from the start. The sandwich though? Even better. I enjoyed that sandwich more than I have enjoyed any meal in a while. It was tender, flavorful and just what I had hoped for. I ordered a whole not knowing it was enough to feed a family of 3, but hey thats on me....so I could not finish it, and i will be giving it the good old reheat test at my next lunch break. If you are in the area, make this shop part of your plans, it was an absolutely wonderful sandwich. Have been coming here for years and John's always hits the spot. The green pepper cheesesteak is the go-to, with fries and onion rings. My husband and I share a whole sandwich, and we get peppers and onions on the side because he likes the onions and I like the peppers. If you're a Pepsi vs coke person, the fountain drinks are Pepsi but they have coke bottles too. We always like to eat in their patio area because it's pretty clean and the sandwiches are better when eaten immediately! Giving it 4/5 because I never feel fantastic a couple hours after but hey, it's worth it haha. read more

Bomb cheese steaks!! My boyfriend and I always gets the works and it's soooo good and has a light spice from the jalapeños. The bread is so soft and there's so much meat in the sandwich. Last Saturday morning I was getting my hair done and I kept catching delicious whiffs of pastrami, then onions, then peppers. The smells got stronger and more frequent the longer I sat in the salon. By the time my hair was done I was starving and knew I needed to get lunch from wherever this food was. Turns out, it's literally right next door to the salon, perfect! I walked in and decided to order a large Green Pepper Cheesesteak to take home and split with my husband. The sandwich was made within a few minutes, and I made it home within 30 minutes. I was deliriously hungry at this point and ready to devour the food. A large is HUGE! It was plenty for both of us, and for less than $15, this was a pretty cheap lunch for two people. We both loved the cheesesteak, one of the best we have ever had. It was slightly spicy, but not too hot to handle. So much tender meat and the perfect amount of cheese, the seasoning is great. Their bread was fantastic! This is definitely going to be where I get lunch every time I get my hair done. I am not sure I will be able to wait another 4 months, I might have to go find a reason to go back to Seal Beach before then! read more

Old school sandwich deli, excellent menu of Philly steak sandwiches and hoagies. Nice owner working it too. They had outdoor seating so pretty sure dog friendly too. I ordered the #4 The Works-full size. The thing was as long as my arm. Love that! It was cheesy, meaty & really good! I also ordered the #15 The Philly Hoagie-full size asking for the vinegar and oil to be out on the side since I was going to save that for the next day to eat. They even asked if I wanted the other ingredients on the side too. Good idea, yes please. Ate it the next day and it was delicious and I was happily stuffed. I just have to note how carefully they wrapped things separately (i.e. even the tomatoes wrapped separately). I really appreciated that.
