I wanted this to be good. I came in expecting a decent smash burger. First look had me fooled. Glossy bun. Sauce peeking out. Browned edges. It looked soft, rich and ready. For a second, I thought it was about to hit. Then I picked it up. I drove to a shaded spot nearby and ate it right away. No long ride home. No delay. Shaboozey's "Good News" on the radio. Burger in hand. Hope leaving the vehicle. The bun was dry, airy and barely warm, almost like a stale croissant. It looked glossy and soft at first, but had no structure and collapsed more with every bite. The closer I got to the center, the colder and stiffer it ate, like it never got properly warmed through. Glossy outside. Cold center. No chew. No bounce. Just bread giving up. For a smash burger, this missed the whole point. There were some browned edges at first glance, but the bite never backed it up. No hard sear. No crisp edge. No beefy crust. Dry patty. Weak seasoning. Odd flaky texture. The bun broke apart in layers, the beef broke with it and every bite got drier as it went. No juice. No snap. No beefy finish. Burger dressing. Mustard. Grilled onions. Pickles. Sharp, rich, sweet, tangy. That setup should wake up a burger. I gave the patty every chance to show up, but there wasn't enough crust, juice or beefy flavor underneath. Just sauce and toppings looking for something to do. Came into my radar because it's the only place in Long Beach that serves Chocolate Shoppe ice cream. Had a chance to stop in for an early dinner, before a Long Beach Coast baseball game at nearby Blair Field. The food and ice cream were good, with friendly service to boot. OMG Burgers and More opened in Feb of 2025, right across the street from Wilson High School, catering mainly to high school students (though they are open on Saturdays as well, 11:00 - 7:00 pm daily). It's located on busy and fast 7th Street, and we found non-metered street parking on Roycroft avenue close by. It's a walk-up set-up, with a small food menu (no deep fryer), a small selection of ice cream, and a wider selection of water ice. The owners lived in Philadelphia for a bit, and brought back the recipe for a philly cheesesteak. We came a little before 5 pm, and we were the only customers, but the one worker was attentive throughout. One places and pays for the at the outdoor walk-up (credit cards accepted with 3% service fee, clover as the point-of-sale). The order is made-to-order, so took a while to come, and a simple yell of 'it's ready!' was enough for us go back up to get our order. There is a small outdoor fully-covered dining room with six permanent picnic tables, and two flat screen tvs. Drinks are the canned variety, not including the water ice or lemonade. The food is divided into burgers, hot dogs, cheesesteaks, patty melts, sides (no fries, though), drinks (bottled lemonade, and canned soda), and desserts (water ice, banana pudding, and ice cream). The food is a la carte, and none of us tried any of the sides. My mother-in-law got the chicken burger ($7.99) with pickles, lettuce, mayo, and american cheese slice (+$1), our neighbor friend got the beef hot dog ($5.99) with ketchup, relish, mustard, cooked onions, and bbq spread. My wife got her plain cheese burger ($8.99). I got a loaded cheeseburger ($8.99), with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mayo, cooked onions, and pickles. The burger was really good quality, seemingly hand pressed and from fresh (not frozen). The bun was a very soft brioche, which went with the meat and toppings. They offer all the burger toppings for a backyard cheeseburger, plus cooked onions (in additional to raw), which I liked. Halfway through eating, I figured we had room for the ice cream that I wanted to try. This time, I went up to choose a 3 scooper ($7.99). I've gotten spoiled lately with the ice cream scoop sizes that we've gotten from local ice cream shoppes...not the case here. The ice cream was OK, with the ultimate oreo being better than the rocky road which was better than the vanilla. Everything is in disposable containers, so self bussed. Okay I've been seeing a lot about this place I had to give it a try. Got a steak sandwich and a smashburger so I can try both. Now I'm from Pennsylvania so I've had a bunch of steak sandwiches. It was good it seemed a little californianized. Came with peppers onions tomatoes and mayonnaise. I never would have got it like that but I figured I had to try their version. Wasn't as good as I hoped. Don't know if I'd try again. Now the smashburger was actually really good brioche bun good crispy on the burger let me choose anything I wanted to drive on it. I enjoyed it I would have it again. The guy working there was great he worked with us we asked a bunch of questions he answered us no problem. The place was pretty cool it's near a school so I think it's set up for that. But they have a little indoor outdoor patio seating area. Service was good at OMG. Outdoor seating area was nicer than most and you can watch sports while seated there. I liked my cheesesteak with the standard Cooper Sharp cheese and the peppers, but I made the mistake of allowing mayo to be included. I think it should safely be an option instead. read more

This lived up to all the hype. I came for the cheesesteak and I will return for the cheesesteak! I did splurge and try a few more things while I was there, for research purposes of course. I got standard cheesesteak as it comes which had onions, peppers and mayo and it was perfect. Authentic bread with that perfect chew. Amazing meat to bread proportion, I couldn't even finish half. I love me some Phillys Best but this beat it hands down. Don't fret Phillys best, you score points for those amazing fries and onion rings. Next the Chili cheese Fritos was a guilty pleasure. Chili was good and I think they have a turkey version I will try next time. I would get again but maybe just the chili if they serve it without the Fritos. Mac n cheese is a must whenever on a menu, so why not! It did not disappoint. Great cheese flavor that was creamy enough and still had a nice cheesy crust. If you love Mac I would recommend for the try. Honestly I would likely try other stuff just for some variety next time but I would recommend for sure. Finally you have to try dessert, right? I was gonna get the ice but I decided to drive home to eat which is about 15 min so didn't want to risk it melting. I went with the banana puddin and boy am I happy I did! Legit some of the best I have ever had and I both make it, but seek it out on menus. It was perfect size, great banana forward pudding and perfect wafer ratio. Highly recommend if you like Banana Puddin like me! This isn't about ambience, this is a window and take to a table joint but it was nice enough for me. I found street parking right in front but you can park in the lot on the corner by the Taco spot if not as lucky as I was. It was 12:15 on a Monday but school hasn't started so may have been lucky. The staff was friendly and engaging and I loved the entire vibe. I will be back for a burger for my husband to try (so I can sample) but no way I am not getting that cheesesteak every time. I was looking for a good cheesesteak in Long Beach and I found it. I gotta say I was impressed. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Portion size did not disappoint. Ok for the review. Once again the cheesesteaks are PHENOMENAL . Only other thing I've ordered is the chicken cheesesteak and it was amazing too. But if you can eat beef, stick with the original. Only continued suggestion is would love if you guys would serve fries. The rest/pictures of this if for the owners so hopefully they can get it fixed. Expectation was pretty high after reading all these enthusiastic reviews, and the SeoulMate that it replaced was such a favorite of mine that I was really hoping to find a gem at this location. I tried their smash burger, and it was cooked fresh off the grill and had all sorts of customization options, kind of reminds me of the experience at Five Guys. It was a pretty juicy burger, and all the toppings were lovingly prepared and grilled. Nevertheless, it lacked something special to raise it to the next level. My partner wanted to try this place and we had time to check it out. It's not far from our apt and conveniently close to the HS. They serve really good food as we sampled their smashburger and patty melt. The smashburger was custom made to perfection. Definitely a hearty sized burger. My patty melt was really good. Great bread, but it could have been crunchier. The pretzel was buttery and salty, but I was expecting it hot. I was surprised they didn't have fries on their menu, but they'll probably want to get on that before the school term. Kids love fries in a bag at the end of the day and it would sell hot. While at a Wilson High school baseball game my wife and I thought a good burger would be a fitting way to cap the evening. Saw that it was not far from the ball field and found it just where map said it would be. Took a minute or to find a parking on the nearby side street but not far away. OMG specializes in Burgers and other sandwiches but no French fries. So we ordered Mac and Cheese and Potato salad as our side. The owner was very nice and accommodating. Did not take long to get our food. The burger were tasty and filling. We had the works so lots of favor to rollover in our mouths. Pretty solid burger joint. The location is kind of hole in the wall, on 7th St across from Wilson High School. We were initially drawn in because of their Italian ice which a fav with the kids. Was looking for a quick ice cream spot to take the kids to after the park. OMG popped up as close and good ratings, it's directly across the street from Rec Park and Wilson high school. It's a little tucked in on the corner of 7th right before Park. Was given a generous sample of the Orange Sicle ice cream, it's a winner!
