Christine answered the phone to take my order and she was the happiest person over the phone. She was more excited about the chicken finger sub and fries than i was ordering for my son! Not only was she professional and patient but she repeated my order and gave me the total which many places do not. Johns is on Grand Island and I've also noticed there's one in Amherst too... I wonder where else there is a Johns at? Anyways, it's a local / regional kinda place. Pizza up here in WNY seems to be (and by dream to be I mean absolutely is), different than anywhere else I've ever lived. That isn't a bad thing... just saying it's totally different. I'm used to living out west... west Texas... gods country. Pizza is prolific everywhere in the world, but out in west Texas it doesn't have like its own style. It's just normal chains like Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns and my fav (fuckin fight me): Little Caesar's. Johns has legit pizza. I've had it a few times now. They also have subs! The Stinger is one of my favorites. Not much to say, but I will say, this place is worth going too. Fast. Friendly. John's mouthwatering spicy pepperoni is the thing I miss the most about Buffalo food. I crave it all the time. Their pizza has a hearty, oregano heavy flavor that tastes like a football game. Lather that bad boy with some blue cheese and some wings on the side and you got yourself some EATIN. The sauce is sweeter than other pizza places and the dough is a bit thicker. It's been a classic since I was a little kid. They have excellent subs too. You can't get a chicken finger sub like theirs anywhere in the world. Their turkey and steak subs are also great. Found this place on my yelp app. I was tired eating at the usual spots close by like the Chineese place, BK and Wendy's. When I noticed they had a Online order thing, I placed my order. The first time I tried it, I got the stinger pizza and I was hooked. The stinger pizza has been my favorite so far. I have tried the House special, the Big Mack and my buddy got the steak pizza. Out of all the gourmet pizzas I tried, the Stinger was the best and the House special comes in a second. The steak pizza my friend had didn't have any taste. If it wasn't for the banner peppers, the pizza would have been pretty bland. I'll definitely be back at least once a week during my lunch break to get the stinger pizza and try other things on their menu. read more

Stopped in here yesterday for a few slices after attending an event at the vfw a few doors down. For slices, our options were: -cheese -cheese and pep -chicken finger -stinger I went with the chicken finger and my husband decided on the stinger. We also got a bottled drink to share. It took a few minutes to come out, I'm guessing they heat them up when ordered. The chicken finger slice was bangin! It was different than other chicken finger pizzas in the area that use an olive oil or bleu cheese sauce on the crust and then sauce the fingers hot/medium/mild. This pizza had a buffalo sauce base, a little celery in there, cheese, and plain chicken fingers on top. It was refreshing and delicious! I love their take on it and will definitely be back for a whole pie. read more

I was worried when I didn't see many cars parked out front. Usually lots of cars means the food is good. It wasn't till I got inside that I noticed the main parking lot is behind the building. Whew! John's has a traditional WNY pizza/sub/wings menu. Prices are reasonable. The food is good quality. I ordered a cheese and pepperoni and some rings to go. The staff was very pleasant, and my order was filled promptly. The pizza was to be shared between me and mom. I forgot that she steals all the pepperoni and eats that before everything else. We're not from New York, we were there buying a car and some of the locals suggested going there because we were hungry. We got the two piece and a drink special. Johns is known for their chicken finger subs and pizza, I got both cus I'm a fatty and they were both awesome!! Yum!! Inside was redone and is nice. They have a wide selection but they don't have Indian food which disappointed me. Staff is fine, and prices are ok. There's a car wash next door too but I felt my car wasn't that dirty so I passed on that. Tops is across the street I get groceries there sometimes. The most disappointing pizza I've ever had in western NY. They were careless with the whole pizza. The pepperoni was sliced too thick and it looked like they dumped the reject bucket on top of our pizza. The pizza was undercooked so badly that it was floppy. When they threw it in the pizza box, they ruined half the pizza as all of the toppings and cheese flopped over the edge and grease pooled all over that half of the pizza. It wasn't cut through, at all, we had to cut it too. The WORST part is, this is NOT the first time this has happene and the manager couldn't care less. Used to love this place and their food, I will never order from here again nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. read more

The last five times I have ordered pizza with four toppings it was made missing one of the toppings!!! I even specify the last three times I called in the order to make sure it has all the toppings!! Pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and banana peppers. Again today when I got there my pizza was wrong!!! I had to wait 20 minutes for them to make a new pizza. Ordered two fish fry's that were pretty terrible. Both came with small condiment cups of coleslaw, both of which were maybe a tablespoons-worth and very bland, mine being dry with no liquid. The actual fish was dry and hard. With so many options for fish fry, I would definitely not recommend Johns. read more

I was visiting a friend on Grand Island and I was hungry so he directed me towards John's Pizza and Subs. I ordered a Godfather sub and some hot wings. The sub was very good, clearly worth every penny and then some. I'm really look forward to trying a different one the next time I am in the area. I must say that the hot wings were what really stuck out to me. They were seriously some of the best hot wings that I have ever had. I got 20 of them with the HOT sauce and it definitely has some heat on it! Those wings had me sweatin! But that's the way I like them! They are definitely in my top 3. But since I have been there lately its been getting worse overtime, ordered Food got charged for cookies but never received them, and every time I get chicken finger sub it was greasy even on the outside of the bag, soaked threw. I am originally from Grand Island, so I grew up on John's pizza and subs. However I currently live out of state, and I have been for quite a while now... But I was recently home and every single trip home I have to order from John's! My favorite is the chicken finger pizza and the chicken finger sub. They are conveniently located in the center of the island across from the Tops plaza on Grand Island Boulevard. I would recommend pizza and subs, and their wings are also very delicious! My favorite wing sauce is the barbecue, as I do not like anything very spicy. I've tried so many places out of state, but I cannot find anyone that compares to John's. Their dough is a bit thicker than most locally, and they could benefit from cornmeal or something on the bottom of the box because the condensation from the heat caused a wet and somewhat soggy pizza bottom. The crust, however, was very flavorful and delicious. Sauce is sweeter as mentioned in other review, and cheese could've been more flavorful. Overall , I enjoyed it, the the soggy crust really was unpleasant. COVID is it there, so when we walked in to pick up it was nice to see that all but one worker wore masks properly. However, there was one guy back there not wearing anything at all, and when I mentioned he pulled up a neck scarf to 'barely' cover his nose. I have no doubt it went down as soon as I left. For that reason, I won't be going back until the pandemic is over. read more
