Ordered a fish fry as they proudly have been advertising it for years now. They even had a black metal fish decoration adorning the establishment, so I figured I'd try it, as other places were closed. Their subs are quite good if you don't mind paying an arm and a leg. The fish fry however, was pretty terrible. At $15 you get about 1/2 of what you get anywhere else and don't expect macaroni salad, don't expect potato salad and don't expect a slice of rye bread. What you should expect is a tiny slice of greasy flat fish, half a cup of shredded sub lettuce with a couple pieces of diced tomato (saddest side salad I've ever seen) and a half a cup of some gross mayo drenched cole slaw with some fries. As usual Pat's, I cannot comprehend HOW you stay open. This place is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT and they have a lot of nerve charging what they charge. Back when the father owned and ran this place it was top notch. Now who ever runs it should be ashamed. So bad. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. OMG!! I'm a local girl and I finally ordered the "Award Winning Haddock Fish Fry" It was definitely a test situation... I even had it delivered! - it came Hot! Awesome - the sides, cole slaw and tartar were homemade - big juicy fresh lemon - the fish was exactly what he said lightly battered haddock very tasty! Chef Salad was ok...but not homemade potato or macaroni? I will adjust my order next time for sure... The Fry Needed a little Balance. Fish was very good, too many frys, excellent tartar!! if your gonna skip the Mac & potato salad give a nice slice of rye bread! Having never been here before, I was just expecting a normal sub shop. This place delivered. Jonny is a very engaging and proud man. You can tell he takes passion in his restaurant and his food. He told me some stories of what the restaurant stands for and while looking around, you can tell how clean they are. I ordered some food with a coworker and we split some subs. Steak and cheese and a hit chicken finger sub. The steak and cheese was very good. Cheese nicely melted through with some banana peppers for a back end spice. Nicely toasted roll. I've have some pretty terrible steak subs in the past so this was thankfully very good to remove past thoughts of let downs. The chicken finger sub was on par or maybe slightly better than the steak. Great fingers. Only thing I would have did was add a bit more hot sauce when they were shaken. Good, crispy fries also. Really good place. Will be back! read more

We were in the area today and decided to stop in to Pat's Subs. I hadn't been here in years and boy were we missing out. The customer service was friendly and attentive. Our food was was absolutely delicious. I had the half sub combo and let me tell you- it was THE BEST CHICKEN FINGER SUB I've had in like 15 years!!! It was THAT GOOD! The fingers were perfectly fried and dipped enough to have a good coating of sauce but not too much that it leaked out or made the batter soggy. The roll was perfectly toasted and didn't fall apart or become a soppy mess as I was eating it. The flavor of the sauce was just the right amount of heat and savory. It was the perfect sub. I will definitely be coming back more often especially when I get a hankering for a chicken finger sub! My bf also had chicken fingers done BBQ and chargrilled and they were FANTASTIC! The sauce was delicious on those wonderfully fried tenders; it had a nice bit of heat and the char was just the piece de resistance! We both had a generous serving of fries on the side, that were superb (and even better dipped in their house blue cheese!!). The place itself is really fun inside; with lots of Buffalo, and sports memorabilia and is the sort of cozy, inviting space that gives you the feeling of being in someone's den. This place has never disappointed me. Their subs are top-notch, toasted perfectly. My favorite is the steak souvlaki sub. They normally put lettuce and tomatoes on it but I order it without them. The feta cheese and tzatziki sauce make then very tangy. They also have a great fish fry that is served every day not just Fridays. They insure a crispy batter by wrapping the fish in aluminum foil. Normally they have very good food. But the last two times we ordered a "sub platter" they charged us for a platter but just gave us regular subs in a bag. The "platter" is 4 subs but they cut for you and put on a tray with lid and charge $5 more. So $5 wasted and we had to cut our own at home each time. We let the first time slide but two times is extremely annoying. We called and got no rectificafion other than driving back which would make us late for our party. One of our subs was incorrect. And pricing seems wayyy off. Our total came to $72 for fries and 4 subs!? Sub platter was stated to be $47.99. And we ordered a large fry with it. So that means fries were $20!? They stated mushrooms are extra, bacon is extra. HOWEVER, one of the subs we ordered was literally a turkey bacon club. How is bacon extra? It's part of the sub? Same with steak hoagie - mushrooms should be included? Those were the only two extras they stated that we would have gotten. Even nickle and diming those toppings plus a "large" fry (which was not a lot at all and also cold) should not be $20. Definitely didn't seem to want to figure out a solution for us when we called. Instead they implied we ordered a chicken finger sub when in fact we ordered a stinger sub. I heard my husband clearly order a stinger sub. No tomato. There were tomatoes. Why question us over one sub that could have absolutely been incorrect? Maybe question your employee? We won't be back. read more

I always come here for the huge delicious tacos. But all that it takes is one bad experience. Tacos weren't available on the menu today and counter person didn't even give me a second to decide on something else and he had a bit of a shitty attitude. The food is tasty but very over priced. He try's to make a lot of different types of food like Gyros but he makes it with ingredients they have already and its not a true Gyro or close. He does this with a few different items and they are OK but of disappointing. Everything is over priced. His subs are all the same price it doesn't matter if you get a ham sub or a steak sub and a lot of his items are like that including appetizers. I rarely eat here Maybe once a year because his fish fry's are pretty good but that's about it. This is definitely a neighborhood joint. The guys that work here are "South Buffalo" all the way. Go in and talk about the neighborhood and talk about Sports Teams, super friendly and salt of the earth type. The place is usually empty when I go, but is always spotless clean and the food is ready to go 10 min after my order. Speaking of Subs, this place is top notch and in my opinion the best Sub shop in south buffalo. Food and Ingredients are Very fresh, and tastes great and blows away the food of Jim's Steak's (greasier and sloppy and the place is not NEARLY as clean) which I would consider the main competition to this place in the area. I like the Steak subs here and I've done the cheeseburger sub which was very good, but my favorite is the "Fat Pat's" steak and sausage combined. Very delicious. If you need a sub, go here. Wow. Went to Pat's before a concert. Came in to a very clean establishment, nice real wood tables, tv screens with the Sabres game on. I ordered a stinger sub and a taco. Friend ordered Cajun shrimp platter and a bacon cheeseburger sub. All 4 were very good. Stinger was cool cause they chopped the fingers with the steak and that works out great! We'll put together taco. The opener was working and what a great guy I'm a first timer and look forward to returning soon! read more

I came here after work to grab some takeout, after having met someone who works there, who I cashed out last night. I pass by this place at least three times a week on my way to my second job and I'm so glad that I stopped in. I ordered the managers special. You can get a half sub, sandwich, taco, or wrap. It comes with coleslaw, french fries, onion rings, or macaroni salad, and a fountain drink for $12.87. After tax it came to around $14. It was pricy but it's so worth it. What did I order, you ask? Half a stinger sub with fries! The stinger sub is chopped steak with chopped chicken fingers! It came with my choice of peppers (I chose green!) and lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, mayo, and either a plain, sesame, or wheat roll. (I had lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, and mayo added and I chose a sesame roll.) It was the probably the best stinger sub I've ever had and was well worth the price. The fries were perfect too. They weren't greasy at all and they were perfectly crispy. I wish it came with even more of the wonderful fries, but I probably shouldn't be greedy. Also, I met the owner and both he and the other workers have great customer service skills. The place is clean with cool decor. I love the buffaloes around Buffalo and this place has one!!! They've apparently been in business since 1984. I still can't believe this is the first time that I've been here. I will definitely return soon! read more

My boyfriend and I started going here about a year Ago when we moved to the area and have been hooked since. I've tried the shrimp dinner, several different subs, their tacos, chicken fingers and their very fresh coleslaw is to die for. All prepared amazingly. The guy that I'm assuming owns it shows up for work everyday except Sunday's when they are close, great conversationalist and remembers his customers and what they order. (We order big sides of coleslaw) Also they sell homemade sour fruit strips that are delicious. They are a dollar a piece but I always grab two packs when I go in. I used frequent this place about 15 yrs ago. After moving back, I had to get a Fat Pat sub. I was the only person in restaurant at 2pm. Sub ingredients were of good quality but the size of the sandwich was less than adequate. Owner asked how it was and got instant attitude. Been going to this place 4 years, up until yesterday. My wife and I went to order a couple of subs (expensive by the way). After waiting at the counter for @ least 5 mins. Someone came out and said "he won't make your subs if you're getting steak subs because you are too fussy". "He" is the owner of this terrible place. The place had only 5 people in it and they were already eating so I don't think time was an issue. The issue is that he serves an inferior product at a increased price and doesn't want to be held accountable. Apparently he wants to make what he thinks is easier to make. Not what the customer wants. The fact that he couldn't come up and talk to me speaks volumes of lack of character and respect for life long customer. Very overpriced subs but when they charge you $3 for tap water that's just ridiculous. They also forget to give you the special prize or free pop when you order 3 subs. I have given them too many chances I was at my last straw yesterday. They are very dishonest and take advantage of customers. A perfect example of you get what you pay for. I always get the Cajun chicken sub here. Two nice sized chick breasts w a greats sauce, hands down my favorite sub in the area.
