So I'm here with my boyfriend and his mom and her husband and we ordered a chicken bacon salad, lasagna, and a sandwich me and my boyfriends mom shared thinking it was a shareable sandwich at the price it is. But after long wait the sandwich came to us and it was smaller then we thought and it wasn't like hot hot like it was warm but just didn't seem like it should've been that long to make what came to us. Trust me I get food places get busy I've worked at places and they definitely were busy as well. I just don't understand why there is only two people running back and forth and they are even looking confused or just overwhelmed themselves. It definitely looks like THEY NEED MORE HELP. I think we should've gotten a discount or something for what we went through. Plus as walking out the server seemed upset that we didn't tip but it wasn't good service that's why no tip. I hope you guys get the help you need and become a functional place One more thing it's very very loud can hardly talk to anyone at my table. read more

We were traveling and stopped in on Monday night for pizza while it was snowing out. Friendly establishment and decent pizza. The only fault in the pizza was the crust was not fully cooked but I loved the toppings on it and the cheese. We also got their garlic bread which was just okay and a diet coke. There on a Wednesday night - quiet but owner said that Friday's and Saturday are hopping! Had a pizza that was extremely hot when served. Ordered large an d it was LARGE for 2 people. Plenty of leftovers for the next day. No beer or soda on tap but prices in cans and bottles were very reasonable! Would recommend as a very good value! read more

This is my absolute favorite pizza place in Port Washington! And, one of my favorite pizza places, in general. Hands down, I recommend their chismo - cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion. It is so so so good! And, there is no need for extra anything (cheese, toppings, sauce). They put just the right amount of everything on it. It's a thin crust. Not super thin, but definitely not a thick crust. Whether you are eating in or carrying out, be prepared to wait. I've carried out several times, and more often than not, it takes longer than they say. I'm not talking a couple minutes. I'm talking 15+ minutes. I have only eaten in once. However, there was a fairly long wait for the pizza. Much longer than other typical pizza place, from my past experience. Don't let the wait deter you from trying out this place. Just be prepared to wait for some awesomeness that is John's pizza. read more

The biggest drawback was my we tried to order 3 different beers and they were out of all three. They did make up for it by giving us our first beer free. The pizza was really good, and the Garlic Cheesy bread was best thing we ate. My picky 6 year old loved the bacon, chicken, Alfredo pizza and my Pepperoni & mushroom was good but I thought the crust was a little underdone, but still really good. Our server was very friendly and was great with the 2 kids in our group. The dinning room was clean and comfortable. Overall we had a really nice time and would love to come back next time we're in town to try some of the other things on the menu. I would recommend this place if your looking for a good pizza. It is locally owned and you definitely won't get a better pizza at one of the chain joints! read more

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Ordered John's pizza due to Yelp reviews. I was NOT disappointed! Delivered promptly, VERY fresh, and TONS of toppings! We have given this a number of tries with the same bad experience. They just cannot get the pizza crust right. It has a soft texture and does not appear or taste cooked. Also, went there with a group of six and had one order of chicken. When the rest of the orders were served, the server came over to the table to inform us the chicken will take longer because we forgot to put it in. When it did come it was dry and the breeding was hard and too thick. The only thing that we liked was the lasagna, which our group agreed was good. I've been going here for years and their pizza is one of my favorites in the area! Love their thin crust; good flavor and always perfectly cooked! Their cheesy garlic bread is easily the most delicious I've ever had! We've ordered a few appetizers in the past and they were good as well but we love their pizza and garlic bread so much we rarely stray from it. Their fish and fried chicken is excellent also! Great place for dinner! I took my mother out for dinner to relax after a stressful day. The place was very homey and comfortable. We played some games that they had as we waited for our food. My mother had the cheesy cauliflower soup, and I had the spinach tortellini, both of which were warm and came out quickly fast. We split a turnover which was delicious. All of the food was reasonably priced. While the hours are viable, one time we wanted to go when the sign said it was open, but it wasn't. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone how is a rush. They do offer to pick up, which is very convenient. The service went downhill for a while but the recently it has become much better. The place is best for a relaxing evening with family and friends. Ordered carry out. XS pizza, cheese garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, cheddar nuggets & 2 Pepperoni turnovers. Food was supposed to take 45 minutes, after an hour. They sent us home with everything but the turnovers (offering to deliver them when they were ready, & sending us home with an extra pizza they had) the pizza that was sent home with us was sausage and mushroom, (something we wouldn't eat). The appetizers were good, pizza of frozen quality, & we did not get our family dinner together. It took 2 hours before they showed up with the turnovers. My favorite pizza place in Port. They used to be on a side street off of the downtown drag, but now they are on Franklin, the one that runs through downtown. Its a better location for being noticed, but they fill up pretty quick sometimes. I love the pizza. Not quite an ultra thin crust, but thin. All the usual combinations of toppings, and a very tasty vegetarian version. The EBA means everything but anchovies, and though its not quite everything its as close as I want to come. If you like anchovies, be a wise-guy and order an EBA and ask them to add on the anchovies. The Taco pizza, well, sorry, but its just too weird for me. If I'm after Mexican food I'll go to Beanies. Good assortment of appetizers (onion rings are excellent, and you get a generous helping). Some soup and salads, sandwiches, and a few pasta dishes round out the menu (lasagna and penne are fine choices). Pop, ice tea, and beer for the drinking (Leinie's and New Glarus in the bottle! Wooohooo!) Also some chicken and fish buckets. BUT I recommend going for the pizza. Not a big place, but there's good seating inside. Looks real nice and cozy in there, booths and tables, some nice old photographs on the wall. For some reason the decor especially appeals to me in the winter, maybe because it looks nice and warm then! So if you're ever stumbling around the streets of Port in the dead of winter for whatever God-forsaken reason, by all means get in there and thaw out and eat some pizza, have a beer, and then get out there and finish your business! 'Tis a family-run establishment, and the service is friendly. It gets busy, so sometimes you have to wait a bit for your meal, but it's a good place to wait, and the pizza is worth it. Here is my experience from 11/14/15 Before we dinned in, I called the restaurant; Me: "Do you offer a gluten free pizza?" Employee: "Yes, We do." Me: " I will see you guys soon." My wife has special dietary concerns and I was excited that we can have a date night here. Being new to the Port Washington neighborhood, we were excited and hopeful this would be our go to pizza place. When we get to the restaurant, they were at capacity. The server said it would be about 45 min for the next open table. Not a problem, she took down our phone number and told us she would call us when our table is ready. The wife and I go next door for a drink. 45 min or so passes and we still haven't heard anything. We figure, what the heck, let's go check it out to get an updated. *****Here is where it goes bad***** Upon our return, there are multiple tables open. The hostess/waitress see us and says "oh, you guys can sit there." As she points to the back booth. My wife and I got the feeling if we didn't stop back in we would have never received a call telling us the table is ready, but there is no way to prove that so moving on. We sit down and we wait and wait and wait......In the meantime a group of 10 come in off the street and are promptly given menus, and they place their order. Finally the waitress comes to us and gives us our menus. We were greeted by a "Sorry, I keep forgetting about you guys." In our time waiting we pulled up the menu on our phones and try to place an order when she delivered our menus. Me: " .....and we will try that pizza with the gluten free crust." Waitress: "Um, that one doesn't come in gluten free." Me: "Ok, which pizzas come gluten free?" Waitress: "actually none of them do." Me: "Are you sure? I called before we came in and was told you guys offer gluten free." Waitress: "Oh, that was probably our dishwasher. He doesn't know anything." So glad I called ahead and waited 45 min for this. We asked if they had any gluten free options and it was clear that there wasn't. After the mix up the waitress didn't say "I'm sorry" or "is there anything I can do to make up for the mix up" or anything like that. I was obviously upset and disappointed. I felt like the waitress couldn't care less about our situation that her company put us through. As a potential customer I felt disrespected and like I wasn't valued. The waitress was young, straight light brown hair with glasses. I include this so the owner can address the issue and give the proper training that is needed. read more

I've never ordered on Sunday's before but today's Sausage & Pepperoni wasn't only the greasiest but the ingredients fell out transferring it to my plate and again to my mouth, every time ! This is the type of place that we love to support! It's family run and they take excellence seriously. We ordered a double-dough Hawaiian pizza. Ingredients were fresh and plentiful. Pizza came out a little under-done, but they quickly cooked it more to our preference. And it was great. We then enjoyed homemade cheesecake of the day, which happened to be a turtle cheesecake and quite delicious. While we just had the pizza, the menu was extensive with a number of sandwiches, homemade soups, pastas, and other family-friendly options--and the prices were surprisingly low. I almost always go to John's for carry out. I've sat down for dinner there twice, the service was fine. The food is quite good, for the most part. The mozzarella sticks are in eggroll wrappers and are presented nicely. I love deep fried, breaded cauliflower so I'm a fan of that. The beef sandwich is good. I just plain don't go nuts for pizza, so when I do eat it it's usually just fine with me however it's done. I'm not a connoisseur, but my friends who love pizza say this is great pizza. You can see them rolling out the dough in the kitchen, so it's fresh and handmade. On the down side, it's a small place so if it's busy, you'll be waiting for your food. Like I said, I order carry out so it's not a problem. But I've been in there where people are complaining about the wait, and you can clearly see they're overwhelmed. If you're in town, it's good, solid, reasonably priced food in a nice atmosphere. If you're in a hurry, check to see how many tables are full and make a decision on that. read more

I loved this place! Growing up in Chicago I would travel and stay in port Washington at least once a year. I never had food from johns pizza but it is amazing!! I had the bbq chicken pizza yummy!! Make sure to get their double dough!! My fiance had their ravioli with meatballs. He kept telling me with every bite how wonderful it was! Probably the worst service and stupidest drivers of all the places that deliver downtown port. Rude on the phone. And the prices are ridiculously expensive. $55 for a large pizza and some potato skins? And they are habitually late getting my pizza to me from less than a mile away. Every time I order I say it'll be the last time. This time I think it'll stick. Crust is never cooked through. Sauce is flavorless. Cheese is second rate with no flavor. So my boyfriend and I went here before Christmas. Its a small little place and very welcoming. They had a nice selection of beer and pizza of course. It was delicious!!! Crust was just right crispy and tasty. And the toppings were fresh. We got the sausage and pepperoni and onion. It was great!!! The price was very fare. You could call and reserve a spot. There were two large groups when we were there but if you don't come early it gets packed as there's 4 booths and two tables. But I would recommend this place to anyone!! read more
