I told them to just locate the issue for me and to try to snake from another point. They had to charge me an additional service to run the snake from a separate cleanout and still could not clear the clog. Spent over $1000 on nothing. They are more concerned with upselling me on services I do not need rather than solving the issue. The techs were arguing and didn't have a great grasp of hydrodynamics either. I had an outside pipe break on Saturday afternoon (Easter weekend). They were responsive on their emergency line, I called at least 10 different companies they were the only one that responded, and got a tech out within the hour. The plumber, Ace, was professional, helped me save money with the fire department that had to come out to shut off the water, and resolved the issue working until almost 10 pm to finish the job. Short answer: Outside several scheduling issues and wasted time using their Google integration, PLUS the lie of a free estimate, the price was on par with other services. They did a professional job when on site (which is why it's 2 stars and not one star). Long answer: I made an appointment via Google on a Friday for a Saturday appointment and a free estimate. Not only was the estimate NOT free, but I was forced to put down $89 for them to come out there... AND they were not able to come out Saturday, which they could have told me upfront. They kept on changing times, which was incredibly frustrating for me. At first, I signed up for Saturday, then they said Monday 10am to noon, then they called me the day before and said that my appointment wasn't going to be honored because I'm too far out! They finally decided to come in the afternoon, which caused me to not be able to be on site. From what my man on site said, the techs did a good job. Take that with what you will as I was not on the site. I hate to have to take stars as I'm a huge supporter of small business as my history will show. I just hate feeling like a low priority burden to a service I paid for. I'm not going to do something like dispute charges or anything like that. I will, however, vote with my dollars and choose another company in the future for my plumbing needs. Our experience with John's Plumbing was fantastic. Every aspect of their operation was on point. The scheduling was accommodating and the onsite service from Khari was first rate and respectful. Khari was very conscientious in the way he went about the repairs to an older home. If I could, I would review the plumbers and office staff separately because the two are night and day. Water started pooling in my laundry room whenever I ran the washer. John's was the only one that responded out of several plumbing companies I called. It took two visits by the plumbers to detect the source of the leak, which was a crack in the vent line. They investigated further and detected severe backups in two other areas. The plumbers were very thorough in explaining the scope of the work and presenting me with the pros and cons of each possible method for completing the repairs. Ultimately, I decided to replace all the cast iron piping in my house with PVC. Every step of the way, the plumbers kept me informed, answering my questions and easing my concerns. They were patient, friendly, professional, and tidy in cleaning up the mess created by the repairs. They get 5 stars. Now, for the office. Communication between the staff is very poor. I would call with a question and be told that the message had to be relayed to someone else. Then, I would find out a couple days later after not hearing back that the person never received the message. This happened several times. The office manager gave me an attitude when I asked for specifics about the timeframe of the job so I could coordinate somewhere else to stay. My water heater had a leak and I needed to go out of town the same day. I've replaced a water heater myself before, but didn't have the time as I was packing to leave. I called and they came out in the promised amount of time, gave me a quote and said it would take about 3 hours. Well here's where I'll take part of the blame. I thought the quote was rather high ($2600), but was told prices on water heaters have really gone up because of COVID19 and supply chain issues. I was required to give a deposit ($1400). They went to get the unit while I cleared my garage to make room. I decided to Google water heaters and found prices varied greatly in range depending on what you get. For $2600 I figured I must be getting a top of the line unit, so I called and asked what unit they would be bringing and what kind of guarantee it would have. When they arrived back to my house it was a Rheem unit with a 6 year warranty that you can get at Home Depot for around $600, and yes, Home Depot had them in stock. I inquired about the prices and was told I'd be given a discount. Long story short, they had already removed my other water heater, and I needed to go. It ended up taking them over 6 hrs, I got a $250 discount, and am extremely disappointed. The were extremely nice, (who wouldn't be for that amount of profit), but I won't be using them anymore or recommend them to anyone else. In hindsight I should've just turned off the water and waited until I returned. I showed another plumber what I had done and he said for the same job he would've charged $11-1200, when I told him what I paid, he said he wouldn't have charged that even if it was an emergency. I had a leak within the walls of one of my bathrooms. I found Johns Plumbing on line and a supervisor came out to take a look. After walking around the house this supervisor said that he could send over a specialist to investigate further for a 300. charge up front. This specialist came out and walked around like the supervisor had done and then states that I need the whole house repiped for 9000.00. I told him I needed to think about it over night. I then was able to reach a plumber that was recommended and he discovered it was the Hot water side that needed repiping not the whole house. His company completed the job for half the cost. I just posted an excellent review about this business less than 2 weeks ago and now have to take it all back. Nine days after fixing a broken pipe on the exterior of our house, the repair failed and we woke up Sunday morning to no water. We immediately called John's and were told they would come out right after the call they were on. That was at 9:00 a.m. After several calls, we cancelled the plans we had for late afternoon because they promised the plumber would come by. Around 3:00, they asked if they could make us the first call the next morning - today - because the job they were working was bigger than they thought. They said they would come by at 7:00 a.m., so we left for a hotel so we could shower. This morning, my husband left early for the house to be sure he was home when they arrived. It is now 8:30 at night and, you guessed it, no plumber today! In the morning, the excuse was that someone made a mistake and sent the guys out on a different call instead of to us. By this afternoon, still no one after many promises. They even gave us the plumber's cell phone number and he promised he would come by. Didn't happen. All I can say is, do NOT use them. Adam was very friendly, professional and also warm and sensitive to my problem, seeing that I was a stressed out mom, home schooling 2 kids. He was very honest about my issue, and I felt I was given a fair price, he even worked with me a little on the price, because I also had to hire a water restoration company. I asked Adam for a referral to a water restore company and he suggested the one that John's plumbing works alongside with. They were also Amazing! During my repairs I communicated with Patty and Mia at the office who were absolutely wonderful working around my busy schedule. I had direct contact with everyone 24/7. I felt very good about my decision, I was not treated like another transaction. I was treated like family! The work was done by Bryan, he was very fast and efficient and professional, but also kind and friendly to me, my children and my dog. He worked around the fact that I had to be home with no water for a couple hours and made the repair painless. Adam followed up with me after the work was done to make sure I was happy with everything and also to check on me knowing how stressed out about the leak. Hired John's Plumbing to replace pipes and install new fixtures in my bathroom. What was supposed to be a "2 day" job, according to Adam, turned out to be close to 2 months. Think they took on more than expected. However, ever other day they were cancelling saying guys were not available. The men that were sent to my house were very respectful, can't complain there. However, I was disappointed in the quality of work. Had to have my general contractor secure the new shower box. The last day that they were at my home they hooked up my sink and told me I was good to go. When we went to test out the shower, the shower water was not turned on. My husband had to take the whole shower plate off and turn the water on for it to work. Now as a plumbing company you would think that they would have checked to make sure the shower had water coming out. Just really disappointed and would definitely not recommend. We had the worst service. Their first task was to unclog a washer line. They ended up suggesting we tear out the wall and run a new pipe. Instead we called our uncle and he shoved a garden hose down the pipe and unclogged it in a second. Their second task was to replace a broken handle on a toilet. Since this involves the entire ball and chain, they put that in as well. From that point on, it leaked for a month. Drove me crazy. Finally called a recommended plumber and he fixed it in 15 minutes. Here's how Johns Plumbing extorted me: I called in based on semi good reviews posted on this site bc my water heater was leaking. I am a home renter and according to my (contractor) landlord, the water heater was brand new. Indeed they were fast and arrived at my house within the hour to asses the leak. The supervisor at my house stated her needed to take my heater in and replace it, could run about $350, however, if my heater was under warranty he would only charge $75 for the transport. Seemed fair. So my landlord told me to proceed via email, he was out of the country or he would have done this himself. The following day, 2 different workers showed up in a work truck and got to work taking off my water heater. After they drilled and installed and came back with both my old one, as well as a new one. After about 3 hours of labor, the man calls me into the garage and hands me nearly a $900 BILL!!!! I argued and told him my quote was for $350 when he stated yes then labor and ah blah with no solid answer. I asked him to write a breakdown of these prices and he scribbled numbers with no explanation. Mind you, I am a 5'1 little blonde girl, and this big plumber is getting pissed I won't pay!- what was I going to do?!! So yes, I ended up paying $900 for a new water heater. Today is the second time I have used John's plumbing. First in November 2018, for a leaking toilet in my Master bathroom and today for a loose seal in my cabana bathroom. I was incredibly happy with the first repair, so I tried them again. Same day service on both jobs. I was given a full explanation of the work that needed to be done as well as the price. This is the worst service ever. From telling customer that they need to bring a machine that cost $325 to find a leak and then they show up telling you the ear is the best machine. To one of their plumbers not showing up to work and not even a courtesy call telling you hey we are not coming to repair your leak.
