John has always come through for me. i've gone to him at least 5 times now and have brought skirts that needed to be shortened, pants that needed the seat taken in tighter, pants that needed to be lined, skirts that needed to be basically resized for me, he's done it all. He's added to my wardrobe by fixing clothes I had stopped wearing and are now wearable again. I haven't had any time constraints so everything I brought was always ready by the time I picked my items up. Prices seemed fair. He's always been friendly and pleasant. I had an expensive wool jacket that I wanted taken in two sizes. I was nervous because I was told by other alteration businesses that thick wool requires a specific sewing machine and is trickier than just altering a shirt. Nevertheless, I was extremely impressed with John's alterations! It was done in a reasonable amount of time, the price was only $20, and the fit is perfect. The location is a bit of a drive for me, but I will definitely be coming back. read more

Came in to get some patches sewed onto a leather vest. John was able to help me very quickly as i was on a time constrai t and had to have it done quickly for a halloween party. If you check out the reviews on Yahoo and other locations, you'll find this is a place to avoid. John is often surly if anyone questions him. While he claims to be giving "a deal", his prices are similar or more than others in the area. Plus he is rarely able to deliver finished projects when promised. He always has an excuse. His sewing skills are OK but not good enough to make it worth the hassle of doing business with this man. read more

Tremendous disappointment. He used to be pretty good. Don't know what happened. I've sent many people to this business for professional services. Every single person thought prices were high. Every single person went to pick up their property and it was NOT ready. Some went back 3x before it was. Excuses why things are late: prom, homecoming, major detailed garments taking too much time and they were more important than your items. Requires full payment up front. Although he accepts credit cards he complains about how much that service costs him and requests cash/check. If you cannot keep up with the work you have maybe you should stop accepting new business in the front door. Also, nobody likes to hear a business owner complain about their customers. It's bad for business. Quality of work: adequate. I ended up buying a new garment, and went to Stitch It at Hawthorn Mall. Reasonable prices, ready before stated, no complaints. I went to John's last summer 2016 to get a some pants and shirts tailored. I won't go back to John again. John's tailor messed up two pairs of my pants by making the legs length to short. The tailor didn't leave enough material in the pants to let them out. The tailor does some goofy tailoring to bring the waist in by pinching the material around the waist and sewing around the pinched area. I took the pants to a different tailor and they had to remove the goofy stitch job and do the job right by cutting the material to bring the waist in. Big warning sign for me and I should have listen to by gut was that John asked to paid up front before the work is done. John get paid no matter what. You would do better going to your local cleanings to get the tailoring done than going to John's Tailoring. read more

I have been going to John for over the past few years. Thus far he has replaced the lining of a coat, worked on the sleeves of a second suit, reinforced older garments, and fixed countless pants.
