4++ Feels like one of those old school neighborhood BBQ spots that has been around for a long time. The people here are friendly and helpful and the prices weee reasonable especially considering how expensive BBQ is these days. The structure itself feels like kind of an old timey shack. To my knowledge, it didn't look like there was any seating available so it's more of Just a takeout place. The menu is pretty straightforward with your barbecue classics like ribs, brisket, and tri tip, etc. and classic sides. I was in the mood for some saucy barbecue so I got an order of the ribs lunch. For my sides I got the mac & cheese as well as the collard greens. I thought the sides were well seasoned without being overly salty. The ribs were also prepared really well as they had a nice bite to them, but they fell off the bone pretty easy. The sauce had a great flavor to it. I'm a big fan of neighbourhood spots like this so glad I stopped by to grab some lunch here. Definitely not close to where I live, but if I'm in the area, definitely on my rotation.

OMG Johnson's BBQ !! What kind of giant rib tips you serving ?? And why is the bread crumbling??? And where you buying your chicken links ?? Please stop buying them from there !! Wow waste of money. The sauce is good though.

Plain wings. Your standard size, slightly breaded and fried. Pretty good, no complaints.

Ordered in person around their opening time. Asked for 20 wings and they told me to come back in about 25 minutes as the ovens were still heating up. Cashier lady was super friendly about it all. About $40 for wings and a large side, which is about your normal price for BBQ these days. To the people complaining about things being cold or out of stock, maybe put on some clothes and go order it yourself like a grown adult and stop ordering BBQ at closing time. Of course they ran out of food. You ordered at 9pm on a Sunday.

My first time there unfortunately it was out of heat ribs, but it's OK cause they substituted to my liking amazing Customer Service the young lady was really nice and they took really good care of me. I recommend this place. Check it out if you haven't had it.

BBQ was ok but not in the same park as robert earls. I got the three-meat combo with links, ribs and tri trip. Sides i got mac and cheese with beans and a side of potato salad which were good. The prices are great for what you get here. There is no inside seating, just pick up. I must admit the ribs were pretty dry. The sausage was ok and tri tip below average. I wish they had the brisket because that's what i really wanted over the tri-tip. I think overall its ok but too many other good BBQ places in LA IMO. Not good enough to make me come back. Mac and cheese 8.7/10 Beans 8.3/10 Sausage 7.9/10 Ribs 7.8/10 Potato salad 7.7/10 Tri-tip 7.0/10

Small place and well worth the trip from SGV. Too bad, couldn't dine in!!!

The ribs and links (which is what I always get) are really good. The sides not to much. Greens and mac n cheese are terrible.

Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. I wish it was a main menu item. I'll definitely be sad to see it go. They have lots of seating inside and outside.

The moment I took my first bite, I immediately noticed that the ricotta tasted sour and spoiled. I drove back to the restaurant to request a refund. Unfortunately, my refund was not honored because the manager, Aimee, was not present. Karely, the lead on duty, seemed unsure of how to handle the situation and attempted to explain that the sour taste was simply the lemon in the ricotta. That explanation was disappointing because there is a clear difference between the intended lemon flavor and the taste of spoiled dairy. What upset me most was the lack of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. As a customer, I expected the issue to be taken seriously, especially when food safety is involved. If a manager is unavailable, staff should be properly trained and empowered to handle customer concerns appropriately. I am currently four months pregnant, which made this experience even more concerning. I wasted my time, gas, and energy driving back to the restaurant, only to leave without a refund or any resolution. This was by far the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in Downey, and unfortunately, I will not be returning.

We ordered a flight called Old Mexico that had Jose Cuervo reservation de La familia in it and that was our favorite of the flight set. The surf n turf ribeye was cooked to perfection and flavorful the potatoes delicious and the shrimp were too. My husband enjoyed his kabob platter everything cooked to perfection the meat was tender and there was not a grain of rice left on his plate. My daughter had the filet mignon ordered rare she requested "mooing" half jokingly and she substituted for fries which she enjoyed the fries, but sadly the filet was sliced so thin it was cooked all the way through with very little pink at all, she still enjoyed the flavor of the reduction and taste altogether. We ordered hummus for the table and although the pita bread took a while to come out Kennith did warn us about it ahead of time and we said it would be worth the wait because I had seen them coming out to another table and they looked fresh and delicious, I was completely correct on that it was worth it 100%. I also ordered tomato crostinis and a side of saffron couscous that Jazmin(so helpful and on top of things) brought to our table both full of flavor and done so well they are now something I'm going to be coming back for!

We got the Mexicali omelette and pancakes to share for two people and we could not finish. The Mexicali omelette had chorizo, garlic, mushroom, red onions, mozzarella cheese, jalapeños, ranchero sauce, and avocado. The ranchero sauce made a huge difference because it felt like we were eating a keto (low carb) wet burrito, using eggs as the tortilla, except it tasted way better than a wet burrito. It was very fluffy and delicious with a nice cheese pull. The omelette was humongous and can feed two hungry people. The pancakes were equally huge and should be shared. Each order came with two pancakes but they were kind enough to let us select two different flavors. We got one matcha pancake and one coffee pancake. Both had matcha/coffee sauce, whipped cream, powdered sugar, and fresh fruits on top. We thought they were yummy but the coffee was our favorite because of the pronounced coffee taste. However, if you love matcha, you would love the matcha pancake too. Highly recommended trying the Mexicali omelette and coffee pancake if you love coffee. They were so amazing. Would definitely come back.

Definitely not on him but they should be more staff to help him out. It's a pretty small restaurant and homey vibes. For food, I tried the chilaquiles with chorizo. It came with two eggs and avocados as well. They were delicious and crispy, and they were not shy about toppings! It was such a HUGE portion and I was only able to eat about half of it before it got soggy. I also tried the matcha pancakes which were a favorite! They were fluffy and the cream was sweet and flavorful. The berries on top were also really fresh and delicious. I don't think I'd go out of my way to try this again, but would go if I was in the area.

It's not your typical brunch spot, and I liked that it had a unique Mexican twist on everything. I ordered their chilaquiles and a coffee, and both were solid. The chilaquiles were flavorful, well-portioned, and had that perfect balance of crunch and sauce. You can tell they put thought into their dishes. The coffee paired really well and didn't feel like an afterthought like it does at some brunch spots. Service was friendly and the place had a good energy without feeling overwhelming. It does get busy, so I'd recommend going a little earlier if you want to avoid a wait. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you saw it on HeyLA. Great food, cool atmosphere, and a nice switch-up from the usual brunch spots. I'll be back to try more.

A friend raved about this place and we had it in our "must try" list so what can I say about it now…read morethat we have tried it? Well my best way to explain it is if you're a foodie and love to check out different places, this is probably a great spot, but if you're someone who is looking for convenience and just wants to eat, this is probably not the place. The food is pretty good. We live pretty far so it was kinda fun to take the drive. We are maybe in-betweeners (lol) sometimes foodies sometimes just convenience so since we had time and were looking to try a new spot we were ok with the inconveniences, like parking, wow, finding parking is challenging, and the wait... geez... the wait... if you come a little later like brunch and are super hungry bring a snack. It was just the 2 of us and we waited almost an hour to get seated and then we also waited a long time for our food to arrive. The place is not huge so it's understandable. So taking those things into consideration, and that the food was pretty sold, we really liked it, I give it a solid 4 star rating.
