Simply the best candy store I have been in - PERIOD! I went to Leavenworth a few weeks back and hit every candy/chocolate store in town. It was then that I realized I only had to go to Hill Top to find the best around. Their open faced caramels and chocolate covered coconut are to die for, as are their raspberry sticks. I have been coming to Johnson's Candy for 28 years, and I'm always impressed with the quality and wonderful flavor of everything I try. Went here for the first time today, it's been in Tacoma for over 40 years! Well, $53 later I can say it's got some delicious candies! Something for everyone! Large sugar free selection, that was nice. We ended up getting a bag of black licorice, dark chocolate turtles, a box of assorted chocolates, a box of mint melty things, a box of orange sticks for grandma and my mother in law was super stoked to see Seafoam there! I hadn't heard of it but she insisted it was popular when she was a kid and was so excited to get some for her sister. Great place, large variety. read more

This review is strictly for Johnson's ice cream bars... which are freaking amazing. I concur with another yelper about their utter deliciousness. The chocolate shell is of high quality and melts in your mouth instantly. In addition, the things are big. I'm talking a small brick of ice cream that eclipses the freezer type from Haagen-Daz. They present it to you in small paper bag, handy for catching the inevitable melting drips when you can't eat it fast enough due to its sheer size. I hope summer gets here soon. read more

I went here while on Jury duty, very nostalgic look right on the corner of the street. When I arrived there were other individuals shopping for candy but there was plenty of space to walk around and not feel crowded in the candy shop. All handmade candy and it all looked so good, the woman behind the counter was very helpful on helping me choose chocolates for my wife. The candy has a nice original, quality taste to it. Not processed like the big name candies, I am proud we still have a candy shop like this in Tacoma that hand makes their products. read more

I live in walking distance now for a few years and this year I went in for the first time. The smell of chocolate.... yum. Best chocolate, good quality, close to European chocolates. The ice cream is melt in your mouth. If you get it with almonds it adds a nice crunch. Better than See's! And the employees always friendly. I recommend a visit! read more
