I thought Johnson was just a name, but it's turns out it's a reflection of their whole business! They suck Johnson! Bought a car just to find out they didn't leave me with the lug nut key and gave me the run around about it. Told me they'd find a solution and possible mail me one or reimburse me back for buying one. Turns out neither of that was an option and tough cookies for us. The lug nut key is PART of the vehicle in the sale. Not including this is ridiculous and then expecting me to go figure it out on my own is just poor customer service. Failure to take accountability really shows what "Johnson" means in their name. The reviews don't lie. This place blows Johnsons. Avoid it and go somewhere else where they have integrity, honesty, and take accountability for their oopsie's. Oh and it's not just "$25 dollars" It's 50+ to replace that. I'd give them a zero if i could. I've been leasing cars from then (two cars at a time) since moving to Tennessee in 2011. We went to pick up a new lease yesterday, 29 Nov 24. We had agreed on a monthly lease payment of $250. The sales agent was on vacation so his partner took over. I asked him if he knew the lease was agreed to at $250 and he said YES. When we got to the finance department the price had jumped to $258. I said no, the agreed price was $250. We were then shown into the sales manager's officer where he immediately launched into a litany of reasons as to why $250 would not work. I suggested they call the first guy we had worked with but they said no, he was on vacation. (This was total BS because his partner had just called him about another matter. LOL) At one point I turned to the sales rep we were dealing with and asked "did you not just tell us it was $250?" He hemmed and hawed and wouldn't look me in the eye until I asked him again and he said "I may have misunderstood; I told you it was in the 250s." In other words he looked me right in the face and lied. I got angry; good old-fashioned pissed-off Army-officer angry. Even though I'm retired, I still follow the Code: "I don't lie cheat or steal or tolerate those who do." The lack of integrity made me want to vomit. To their credit, in the end, they caved. I asked for my keys and the minute the sales rep handed them to me, the sales manager caved and gave us the lease for $250. But, I have lost all trust in them and will never return. Final comment . . . had the original sales rep been honest and said we can't go lower than $258 . . . I would have agreed to that price. Eight bucks a month is nothing! What pissed me off and destroyed my trust is the VIOLATION OF INTEGRITY. read more

was my first time at this dealership. The dealership I usually go to didn't have the car I wanted. I should have waited. My experience at this dealership was not good. It seemed like a game to the salesperson. My usual dealership has always been up front and forthright. I left Johnson City Honda having been shown only a couple of things about my new car. Thank goodness for YouTube videos that taught me so much! My last car was 9 years old and so many things were new or totally different in this car. After 'settling' on a price we were taken to another office where we were told about additional things we needed-about $80 a month more! We sat across from the person who read things to us that were displayed on the desk. It was hard to follow. The man was pleasant but spoke very fast and was difficult to understand. When everything was done, we got in the car to go home. The salesperson said "You will receive an evaluation to complete on me soon. Be sure to give me a positive evaluation. On these questions, if you don't give me a 10, it's the same as a zero. It affects the amount of money I make". I drove home not knowing why the steering wheel vibrated a couple of times on the way. Unresponsive, heartless, unfriendly. They missed an important issue with our clutch and when it went out were not helpful in trying to get the repair covered by our extended warranty. The owner would not return phone calls but would send me form letters offering the purchase of ANOTHER extended warranty (after this one was not covered). I have never had a clutch go out on a manual transmission Honda Accord and we've had 3 previously (with all over 200,000 miles. This was an unexpected $5,000 repair! After confirming the vehicle was available, and receiving second call and telling them WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO LOOK AT IT, we arrived only to find it had "sold prior to us getting there and the buyer dropped off a check 30 MINUTES AGO". They knew it was sold before they called us the second time. They then tried to get us to look at a more expensive, newer model "they had just gotten in". It was an absolute waste of time and gas, not to mention how disappointed my daughter was to get there and see it on the lot (she was so excited to see it and it was the first car she was buying for herself) and then be told "oh, sorry, it just sold" after we told them we were on our way. The last insult was the man who called her after we left (same person we told we were on our way) and told her "hey, the vehicle just sold". What a disgrace......and a horrible experience for a first time buyer. RUN!!!! Don't Walk Away from this Dealership!!! When you see videos on what to look for in dealerships that are unethical, Johnson City Honda checks all the boxes. We asked for an out the door price via phone and got the run around that we needed to finance through the dealership in order to get the price. Let it be known we were asking for a $400 price concession on a $25,000 vehicle. Certainly not asking for the world. So that was red flag #1. Well the weekend goes by and our salesperson is now ready to "sweet talk" the manager to get us the small price concession on Monday. He "sweet talks" the manager and gets us our price. We communicate to the salesperson that we need to finalize some paperwork with our credit union and will be by in morning with a check and to take delivery of the car. Also, should be known that we communicated to the dealership that we were pre-approved at the credit union. I mean, I may be wrong, but feels to me like we have a deal, right? We call over this morning to set up a time to pick up the car, to be informed that they sold the car this morning. Wait, what??? One other red flag that came up along the way, wanted to run our credit the second we said we wanted an out the door price. This place is as sleazy as it gets!!! If I could leave 0 stars about this dealership I would. My husband and I drove 2.5 hrs to purchase the specific model Civic I am was looking for only to get there and find out we were lied to about the condition of the car. The previous week I was involved in a bad car accident that totaled my beloved 2018 civic ex hatchback. I was looking to replace it with the same body style, low miles, Honda certified and other specifics. After being in contact with the online salesperson that morning and explaining our situation and specific desires, I was told they would get me detailed pictures of any defects in the car before we drove all the way there. I was told she would get this to me soon. After a reasonable amount of time I had to call back to see if the salesperson was going to get back with me in order to us to make the trip and get the car that day. I then received vague and distant pics. I called again to ask the sales manager if he would mind to look over the car and be upfront about any defects. I was told the car was Honda certified and that was in great condition by Mike the sales manager. We talked some numbers and he acted as if he could care less if we made a purchase or not. Despite my husbands gut feeling to NOT even deal with this dealership, I wanted to go look. When we arrived on the lot my excitement quickly turned into disappointment. The car had two bent rims with chunks out of one tire into the sidewall, a dent in the trunk, a few scratches( to be expected on a used car), and busted tail light. The manager , Mike, said he didn't see all this because the car just arrived back to the lot. He said the car had been driven by a salesman and had not even been there until right before we arrived. We were lied to about them looking over the car twice. He refused to fix any of the major issues despite it being Honda certified. No apologies were made on his behalf and he again acted as if we were of no importance to him whether we took the car or not and made the long drive. Couple of experiences with them. 1. Bought a new car, financed it thru them. Like another review below, they add on "dealer profit" items like extended warranty and credit life insurance without even asking....not an uncommon practice in the car business. Fortunately, I know how to use a financial calculator and had the monthly price in my head before I went into the den of the lion. After he fixes up the papers and slides them over to me to sign, with a monthly figure $60 higher than I had figured, I asked "So WHAT is in that other than the car ?" "Well, it's got your credit life......" I held up my hand and said "Nope. Got life insurance, don't need overpriced credit life that only pays off the car. I die, wife can decide to pay it off or not". So he does a new set of paperwork and slides them over. STILL too high. I ask "What in STILL in there besides the car ?" "Well, you extended warranty...blah blah blah" like EVERYBODY gets one. "Nope...take that out too". And so help me, he slammed his fist on the desk and said "WHY NOT ???" "Because the car has a 3 year warranty, and if it breaks in 3 years, YOU guys are gonna fix it. And after 3 years, I'm a fairly decent mechanic, how about you let ME worry about ME ?" 3rd time on the paper work was a charm. Hit my figure within a couple pennies and I bought the car. He was not a happy camper. It was a 48mo loan.....48x$60= @2880 they added to the price of the car in a heartbeat, AND DO IT EVERY DAY. 2. Second experience: Check engine light comes on about 5 years into ownership. I should have simply taken it to Advance Auto parts store and go them to plug in the code reader, but I took it to the dealer. They did a little something, cleared the code/light and said "If it comes on again, you'll need a new catalytic converter......800 bucks". So, few weeks later, it did come on again, and I took it in for a new converter. Price came up to the 800 buck figure on the bill......until I pulled out the vehicle warranty book and pointed out the converter on that model is covered for 84 months or 84,000 miles, neither of which were exceeded. And NOT like they didn't know that either......they were planning on getting paid by me, and Honda, for the same repair. I left paying nothing.....and have never been back. read more

On Tuesday 08/27/2024 my wife and I when to JCH to look at Honda Odyssey vans. Jose Cooper from sales met us as we parked and exited our vehicle. I told him what we were looking for and they did not have any on the lot. He told us to wait a minute and he wanted to check and make sure. He came back out and said that they had one in transit and should be there any day. So we went in and got some numbers on a trade. The numbers were too high so we told them no and we were going to leave. Jose asked us to wait a minute and he went and got his General Manager Jason Prunkard. Mr Prunkard set down and started talking numbers. We told him what we wanted and he told us it should be there any day. We went over what was on the vehicle and he was acting like he was reading it off the computer. I asked him for a print out of the vehicle so I could look it over and he said he could not print it because he didn't have a vin number for it. I should have known better then and left but I didn't and he told me that he usually sold these vehicles before they came in. We got to the right numbers and Jason told me that I would have to put a $1,000.00 on my card and it would be mine. I asked if it wasn't what we wanted would I get my $1,000.00 back and he said sure so I put a $1,000.00 on my card and left. On Friday 08/30/2024 we went back to JCH to check on the van and to at least get a copy of the window sticker and we were told they could not give us one because they didn't have a vin number and they didn't know where the vehicle was and when it would be on the lot. We left empty handed. On Saturday 08/31/2024 we when to Kingsport Honda and they did have a Honda Odyssey Elite on the lot like we wanted. We worked on a trade and we purchased the vehicle. I called Jose Cooper at JCH and told him that we found another vehicle and I wanted to get my $1,000.00 credited back to my card. He told me to wait a minute and put me on hold. Jose came back and told me that JASON Prunkard said that I was not getting my money back. I then ask Jose to let me talk to Mr Prunkard and he told me that he said he was not talking to me. So I hung up and called my BANK. They are working on this for me. I received no merchandise, no vehicle and no paperwork and they still want my money. This is wrong and not good business ethics so if you don't want taken, you better find another dealership, like KINGSPORT HONDA or someone who has honest work ethics. read more

Purchased a new CRV in October but did not drive it much until January due having a company car. We live over an hour away from the dealership. This vehicle has 1500 miles on it and had to take it back due the apple car play had to be factory reset because it did not work which meant we had no GPS. And just found out the locking lug nut tool was not in the vehicle. Which meant if we had a flat tire no one could change it without cutting off the lug nuts. Will never purchase another vehicle from this place and will not trust having it serviced there either. They told me you are due to replace your brake pads that have only 1mm, but I went to Kingsport and they said your pads are 7mm and not necessary to replace They replaced my rain sniper motor. After two months it died again and it is still in warranty. They then told me what they replace last time was not Honda brand so the labor cannot be covered. I paid $200 for the labor which I should not if they asked me to use Honda brand!!! Update 2019: The new motor, again, failed to work after 2 years. So I changed three times of the same thing in 5 years!!! I paid $380 this time for a Honda motor!! Even worse, my A/C fan makes noise now right after their service!! I told them and they did not admit this was caused by the service. So I have to pay again if I want to fix it!!! read more

I contacted them about a car on their lot as seen on Carfax. I emailed to find out if car was still available. They contacted me several times by phone and email asking me to "answer a few questions" first without mentioning the car I was interested in. I decided to visit the lot and look for it. It wasn't there. They emailed me again saying the car was available would I like to schedule a test drive. Scheduled it for 9 next morning. Checked Carfax before I left home - still there. They event sent me a text to make sure I was still coming. When I got there was told the car had sold. The best case scenario is that they don't care about you or your time. Worst case scenario they practice the old bait and switch. Do not trust what they say. read more

I would not recommend purchasing a used car from this dealership. I purchased my 2nd used Pilot in January 2020. Less than 2 days after purchase the fly wheel snapped off. The dealership was kind enough to tow and repair it at no charge. Unfortunately, less than 2 weeks later the emission light came on. Returned to the dealer for repair. Did not get this repair covered but the sales manager cut the cost in half. However he was very condescending and tactless handling my concerns over the poor quality of the vehicle. His response was to tell me that if I had purchased from a private owner I would have had to "eat" the whole amount. My first pilot was from a private owner and that car lasted over 300,000 miles. It is now 4 months and I am looking to have to replace the injection system. The technician at the Morristown Honda dealer found leaking shocks and cracked bushings. Bought a new Honda at Johnson City Honda in 2019. Lots of stuff added to contract that I didn't want. I told them what I wanted and what I was willing to pay. The contract they made up added over $3,000 to the price; I, unwittingly, did not review the contract before signing and was taken on this deal since the "finance manager" (I think it was just another salesman in cahoots with the salesman), talked all sorts of casual yak to keep my attention away from the contract, so I signed where he told me to and it was then all over. Update 6/2021 - I called Johnson City Honda to get my 2019 Honda National Highway Transportation Administration unsafe vehicle recall taken care of and the girl on the phone had me repeat my VIN number to here 4 times as she pretended she could not understand me (even hitting her phone's mute button as she was reading it back to me the third time). Don't know what she was up to, but based on the "bad deal" I got when I bought the car, had no reason to believe they were going to deal with me honestly on this recall. Figured they were going to try and get me to agree to other service that I would be required to pay in order for them to take care of the NHTSA unsafe vehicle recall, before I could get my car back, I decided to take my Honda to a reputable dealer instead of Johnson City Honda. read more

I can't answer the phone during the day and have told them I can email or text. They refuse to send me a price via email or text. The fact that they won't put anything in writing makes me question their integrity. I have gotten quotes from other dealers via email that outline the entire purchase. I refuse to give them by business if this is how they choose to operate. Yes, a phone call may just take a minute but if I state I prefer to get a price over email, do not try to force me into speaking with you over the phone.
