If I could post more stars, I would. It was a pleasure to meet Jason Mikaeli, and learn about fine Persian carpets. He showed us many beautiful and very fine carpets, including Qum 100% silk carpets for our enjoyment and education. We came home with our heart's desire of a fine, traditional Persian Tabriz mahi carpet. It is made of lamb's wool (kurk wool) and silk. This design is called mahi (fish) because the images of leaves resemble fish. Delighted that this rug will only go up in value, and that we will pass this down to our children. Jason Mikaeli included an appraisal for insurance purposes. We are looking forward to obtaining a Qum silk carpet, or a Tabriz pictorial to hang in our home in the near future! We realized that Jason moved to Carlsbad and his Gallery is now called Mikaelirug. Jason remembered us immediately. We showed him a picture of the living room. Jason explained to us what type of rug and which size fits best. Then he pointed us to three rugs, narrowed it down to two rugs, looked a couple of times again at the picture and made his final recommendation. We did take the top two rug choices home for a week and then came back to Jason. He looked at the new pictures of the living room with the two rugs and came to the same conclusion as before. I needed to have 2 large carpets washed, with one of them with a 3-inch razor tear (I did not even know about it). They did an outstanding job in both washing and repairing the tear. I went to Golden Rug to see what selection they might have for a rug for the living room and dining room. Jason was wonderful to work with and really listened to my wishes. I have several hand knotted rugs that feature a lot of reds and deep blues and I wanted similar colors in preferably hand done rugs in the other areas of the house. He has an excellent collection and he had me sit down to look at some options he has in photos on the computer in order to save my time and from having to dig through piles. I was able to identify that there were enough great options for us that I will be back with my husband soon to make some decisions. In the meantime I wanted to purchase a small 2x3 hand rug for my entryway. I also didn't want to pay a huge amount for them since it is for a high traffic area. Jason took his time to show me the options taking into consideration the cost and coloring I wanted. He even explain the quality, age and some of the designs and their significance. It was obvious he is extremely knowledgeable and also passionate about his business. He realized he had a new rug that had just been cleaned and repaired and hadn't been put in the inventory yet that might work for us and I LOVED it! It's a beautiful rug for the inside of my doorway and I love the look with our red door. Also just a note to people that Jason has designed some rugs himself and even though they are machine made the quality and design are lovely. They are also really affordable.
