The company that installed my new tires broke a stud for the lugnut which had to be repaired. Since it was their fault, they referred me to Johnson's Alignment Service and I called to make an appointment. This is obviously a place where people that care for their cars frequent. I observed some classic vehicles in near pristine condition. While I thought that the repair would take only a few minutes, I could tell that the mechanic was taking his time to make sure it was done correctly. 30 minutes later it was done and I was on my way. Called them to get more info for walk- in services. Lady who answered the phone immediately asked to have my contact info so she can "call me back once things get settled". I asked when that would be, she said she didn't know. Then she abruptly put me on hold for a few minutes. When she came back on I asked how long the wait would be for walk in services (this is as soon as they had opened at 8am) she said it could be a 3 hour wait since they take appointments first. There are so many other alignment shops on Hawthorne I can give my money to, not choosing one who can't manage to be nice or accommodating over the phone. read more

front end of my 2002 Porsche 911 just didn't feel right. so I swapped out my Bilstein b4 touring struts for b8's, felt a lot better but still felt as if it wanted to go in different directions. so I took it to Johnson's, btw, reasons i took it there is, 1. High recommendations from mechanic shops around the area and 2. I don't think any other alignment shop does as many Porsche as Johnson's. I was told settings were way off and said it should feel like a different car. he was right it felt stable and firm on straight and corners. price was a little higher than some but those some don't regularly work on Porsche's. highly recommend if you want it done right. read more

I went to this place because my shop of choice was booked way out and I wanted a hand alignment. I should have just let my vehicle sit until my "go to" place had time. I'm out several hundred dollars now and Johnson's won't stand behind their work and do a re check. They upsold me on a bunch of parts that I may not have needed, replaced them anyway and the steering wheel was still off. The first re check was on them and the problem didn't go away so I changed tires and now they want to charge me again to center the wheel after fixing a radial pull. The fact that I had to rotate the tires to figure out it was a pull means they didn't do their job. Shouldn't the wheel be straight after new tires are installed if they centered it the first time? I don't feel like this place is all it's cracked up to be and the excuses reek of dishonesty. I may just dispute the charges and go somewhere else. From the other critical reviews it seems like the "good ones" are suspicious. One reviewer talked about brakes and a test drive, what alignment shop does brakes? They wouldn't let me be in my own vehicle when they took it out to drive it, so what's the deal? read more

I went to 2 other places before this and they weren't able to align my car for whatever reason - negative cambers, manufacture's specs, AWD? Blah, blah to me. I just know what I was annoyed and needed an alignment so my new tires wouldn't be wearing unevenly. This is an old school, no frills shop with a few chairs and magazines. I was gonna walk to K-mart, but they were like just hang out and we'll check on your car. Awesome! What can I say? They did my alignment in 45 minutes while I waited, they said they adjusted some bolts and screws, I paid my $52.00 and I was out the door. EASY ENOUGH. I had an appointment to get my alignment fixed when I showed up in the afternoon they inform me that the mechanic was out sick and asked me to come back later in the day. Since I had an appointment I would have expected that they call me before I take off work. When I asked why they didn't just call me to let me know the manager said he "just found out" the guy didn't come in - I find that really hard to believe since the appt was at 2 in the afternoon. They did however offer me a free alignment next time - since I told them I took my car else where. Update - just tried to get them to honor their free next time offer and OF COURSE they refused. Not only did they refuse but Steve was very rude and acted like I was lying. --- These guys are very unprofessional and don't care about customer service at all - there are lots of other companies that offer the same service, highly recommend calling them instead. read more

The Focus had a brake job done here a few years back. After picking it up, I noticed the parking brake wasn't working right so I stopped by Johnson's to have them take a look. Steve said the parts that they used weren't working satisfactorily and that we should replace everything with OEM parts. It wasn't ideal to have to return, but I feel I was treated fairly and the second time around, all was well. I am very aware of the costs involved in properly maintaining any machine or vehicle. I have known about Johnson's Alignment for a long while and their great reputation. With all the rain lately in the Los Angeles, it has caused some nice sized potholes. In my neighborhood, I hit a couple. I felt the alignment might be at least slightly off, so instead of taking the car to a place that uses computerized alignment machines, I made an appointment with Johnson's. Johnson's does their work by hand, and my car's alignment was out of spec in the front and rear. They corrected it, and it made a noticeable difference, and I want to say it was better than new. Terrible job at doing alignments They try and rip you off by trying to charge you more because you have aftermarket wheels or brakes. How would aftermarmet brakes change any possible thing when doing an alignment. That simply doesn't make sense. They treat your Car like trash and throw gas cans of sand in the car litterally throww The tech who worked on my front alignment couldn't even drive the car and was burning the clutch after they had " finished " the alignment was completely off still the wheel was very off from Center I understand the bushings on the car was shot but it shouldn't affect the steering wheel position rather just the way the Car pulls. So after being forced to make an 8AM appointment for a corner balance and alignment on my Porsche and letting them know I did not have all day, Steve promised I would be out by noon. Well not only was I not out by noon (more like 2pm from 8 AM after driving 1 hour to get there) but they barely even started the job and this is while i was waiting and watching! To make matters worse the Owner Steve A (hole) LIED to me about the corner balance saying it was done and spot on. I forced him to put it back on the scales and sure enough it was not even close. After some BS excuses I had enough (and still had to pay $375 for installing 2 simple drop links!) Total scam operation and dirtbags, though they will point to a car and say 'hey, thats Jerry Seinfleds car and its wheel costs more than my house!'. This review is long over due. I've been going to Johnson's for the better part of 18 years. John and his team (I'm not forgetting you Steve) strive for quality and continue to delivered on that time and again. They keep the suspension on my lifted Chevy in true working order and it always tracks right after they apply what I'd call, true craftsmanship. The same can be said for my 1963 Lincoln and 1931 Ford HotRod. All of which are not the run of the mill vehicle to perform the said work on, but I'd have no one else but them perform this type of work, as they are, simply the best at it. I've been around cars a good while at this point and as such, I am most comfortable in making that claim. You might find a cheaper price somewhere else (though their rates are competitive), but good luck ever matching their attention to detail, deep knowledge (in both vintage and modern vehicle) and unmatched quality. read more

The dealer told me I needed new Lower Control Arms. They wanted to charge me over $1300.00! John had hIs technician inspect the suspension and advised me that while they were showing signs of age, only the bushings and not the entire Control Arm would need to be replaced eventually. They aligned the vehicle and told me to return after summer to recheck the bushings. Here's why they get 5 Stars. He provided me with an estimate for getting the bushings and the shocks and struts replaced when I'm ready. The total on the estimate was only $200.00 more than the dealer quoted me for just the Control Arms! These guys are honest and knowledgeable! It's a pleasure doing business with them! read more

Came in today for an alignment. They found problems with my car 2 previous full inspections did not. John does have a bit of attitude but he's all right. These people know their stuff; saved me from spending a ton of money sooner than I want. I'm very impressed with their speed, quality, and pricing. But I'm going to keep this at 4 stars until I get back safe and sound ;) Edit: back after a 2250mi round trip. Except for adjusting to the high gusts, my steering wheel did not have to move for the entire 200mi I-5 straightway. My front right tire was balding, and the tire shop recommended a change. I've been coming here for years to align all three of my vehicles. They do the alignment by hand and not some fancy machine. This was my go to spot. Recently their prices for simple alignments have gone out of alignment. It seems that every single car I have "is hard to work on" according to them. It's funny because when I was questioning the cashier why the alignment was so expensive, one of their techs was walking by and happened to say that Mercedes are hard to work on that's why. When I said I don't have a Mercedes, I have a Lexus, he said Oh. He had no excuses as to why they are overcharging for the alignment. Oh well. Time to find a new spot. read more

Took my F430 to get it aligned and corner balanced. This place is more for the run of the mill car alignment. Although they did spend quite a bit of time on my car, I was overcharged ($680) and had to come back to get it adjusted. The corner balancing was done on an inclined surface. They don't use computers or lasers to align. If you want a precise track setup, this is not the place to go. The owner seems to be a nice guy and races Porsches. That doesn't make up for the mediocre service they provide. read more

Took my 03 ram 2500 in for an alignment. They inspected the truck before doing the alignment, the said it needed ball joints and tie rod ends. I authorized them to hangs the ball joints they charge me over $800 to do this job. They installed very cheap / low quality ball joints from oreilly and charged me a very high premium for them. I cannot even grease these ball joints. I would go back for alignment, if the recommend repairs I'll say no thanks and go else where. Good for alignment only, if you needs repairs go elsewhere because they'll rip you off! read more

I brought my 2013 Jetta Sportwagen TDI in for a 4 wheel alignment after putting on some lowering springs. Very clean and organized shop. Friendly staff. I like how Steve is right to the point and clear what needs to be done. Everything is precisely adjusted by hand which is amazing. Watching them go back and forth, over and over again till it is perfect is really nice to see these days. The price for the alignment is a bargain for the amount of labor and love that goes into dialing it in. I always like to remind myself, do it once and do it right. Even if it may cost a bit more. I had my Veloster Turbo lowered over at Pierce Motorsports and drove my car a few bays down to Johnson Alignment for of course, alignment. The person who helped me was very thorough and even asked me what I was going to use it for (auto-x, dialy driver) and how much I weighed. I headed out to lunch and by the time I came back the car was already done from the road test. I paid the lady, hopped in my car and drove off.
