Incidentally, it's interesting that every review - even the "not currently recommended" ones at the bottom, which themselves contain some interesting tales - is either 1-star or 5-star. There is no middle-ground here; clearly a very polarizing establishment. Finally, be wary of particularly vague 5-star reviews from people with no review history. I've now seen and reported several of them that, upon closer investigation, seemed to be written by members of staff or their associates. It ruins the integrity of the platform for everyone when business try to manipulate their ratings for the sake of deceiving potential customers. -------- Short Version -------- We negotiated, inspected, and purchased. Great experience, 5-stars, until they delivered the wrong car to us: higher mileage, lots of damage, and didn't match the VIN we test drove or that was on our purchase paperwork. When we tried to get the car we bought, it had been sold to someone else at a convenient $1,000 higher price-tag than we'd negotiated for it. Their attempted fix was to patch up the damage, "correct" the paperwork, and send us home with an obviously inferior car for the same price. Either that, or void the contract, and accept $100 to delete my Yelp review. -------- The Whole Story -------- My wife and I tried to buy a car at Dallas Roadster and found them very pleasant to deal with. We came in for a test drive, negotiated a fantastic price, sent our mechanic over to inspect the vehicle, and then purchased it in cash. Easy and painless. Over the next few days, we started noticing all sorts of cosmetic damage (a missing inner fender liner and splash guard and some significant dents/scratches) that we and our inspector hadn't seen before. Eventually (after filing an insurance claim on what we thought was a parking lot hit and run!) we realized that Dallas Roadster had given us the wrong car! It was identical in year/make/model/trim but had all the damage we were now seeing and didn't match the VIN that was on our bill of sale or title paperwork. It turned out that Dallas Roadster had sold the car we inspected and agreed to purchase to a repeat customer who offered $1,000 more than we did. The salesman (same guy who handled both transactions) apparently didn't think to check the VINs on either of these otherwise identical vehicles prior to handing over the keys, so we were out of luck on getting the car we had bargained for even though we had paid for it in full and had a dually executed purchase contract. Dallas Roadster wanted to "make it right" by fixing the damage and "correcting" the paperwork. They did offer to pay our mechanic to conduct another inspection and also said they would repair the pre-existing damage on the "replacement" car, which they said was going to cost them $400. However, we took it to 2 different reputable body shops, both of whom said it was 100% impossible to perform a quality repair (one that didn't involve significant amounts of Bondo and wouldn't negatively affect the value of the vehicle) at that price. Both said the situation sounded incredibly sketchy and warned us to run away. We tried to negotiate with Dallas Roadster for some ground on the lost value, but they were not willing to work with us on that point AT ALL and kept arguing that this car was actually worth MORE than the car we should have gotten because it was listed at $500 higher on their website, even though it had all this damage and 3,000 higher mileage on it. We sought advice from the Texas DMV: an Investigator with the Enforcement Division said she had never heard of anything like this and was very interested in looking into it further. She opined that any dealership that made a "mistake" like this should be bending over backwards to make it right for the customer. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The total benefit they were willing to offer was $180 for our inspector, $400 to repair the damage, and $100 in goodwill (which ended up being tied to my "doing the right thing" when it came to my Yelp review). So in short, they were generously agreeing to spend $680 to rectify a "mistake" that netted them an extra $1,000. I wasted well over a dozen hours dealing with this issue and going in circles with Dallas Roadster and had nothing to show for it in the end. I ended up exactly where I was when I started. They sold our car to someone else for $1,000 more than we agreed to pay for it, and are probably going to sell the damaged car for its original listing price as well. A profitable encounter for them, no doubt. For my part, I'll let them keep the $100 in hush money and focus my efforts on lodging effective complaints with the BBB, Federal Trade Commission, and Texas DMV, all of which will only take a fraction of the time I ended up wasting dealing with Dallas Roadster.

The first part was great untill it was sold. However It was driven well and the previous dealer replaced many parts. Brian got it cheap because it needed $3500 in repairs, which he knew would not be apparent for the consumer. So, not being a Lexus dealer , these cars need to be thoroughly inpected by a mechanic, or just leave. All the cars are made very appealing on the surface, which he demands top market for. So far I have gotten nowhere with this.
