French toast combo over easy eggs with Ham

Warm welcoming greeting from front staff. Friendly attentive service from wait staff. Food made with quality ingredients and generous portions. French toast was light and fluffy, my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly for a nice runny yolk, and the ham had a great sear. Hubby had the chicken friend steak it was very tender with a nice crisp covered in silky gravy. He had scrambled eggs and country potatoes that were tender and wry cooked well with bell peppers and onions. Clean warm, open dining room. We will return. Thank you JoJos

Ended up here because my partner loves the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. Environment is clean and spacious, giving diner vibes for sure! Very good temperature, which is important to me because i overheat and sweat in restaurants. My partner got the meat skillet with pancakes and it was so good! The pancakes were fluffy melt in your mouth types and the skillet was super hearty and the eggs were cooked very well. I got the club sandwich and fries, very good stack on the sandwich, even distribution of meats and good bacon on it! The fries were crispy and tasty. I love club sammies and i was delighted! Will definitely come back when visiting for the attentive friendly staff and great food!!!

My bf got a steak and it was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were real and not boxed. The fried okra was sooooo good and I'm usually not an okra gal. Jeanette was the best server!! She is so attentive and sweet and patient. It was our first time and she thought of every detail, including drinks to go. I got the clubhouse and everything was soooo fresh, lettuce and tomato especially. The salad and house ranch was a solid 10/10. I can't recommend this place enough!! A hidden gem.

Went to JoJo's mid afternoon on a Saturday. We were the only ones there. The ambiance was nice and it was plenty spacious. Lots of seating, with a little bit of everything going on in the way of decorations. The hours advertised online are NOT their actual hours of business. That needs to be updated. Our waitress was attentive and nice as well. Had there been more people I'm certain she still would have provided the same. As for the food. It was ok. Nothing grand. My husband ordered the fish and chips and it came with a bowl of vegetable soup. The soup was bland and the broth lacked a lot of flavor. Although the pieces of fish were huge, there was little to say about how they tasted. The deep fry was cooked to a perfect crisp, but the fish was mushy and I could see the disappointment in my husband's face. He was also not at all pleased with the coleslaw. It wasn't your typical vinegar/sweet dressed slaw. Something was different in it. Almost like a horseradish taste in the dressing. So, I asked if there was. The waitress asked the cook and they said no, there wasn't. Not sure what it was, but I t did taste different. I on the other hand liked it. But then again, I like horseradish. My order consisted of a chef's salad. When you read the menu and it tells you that it will have bacon and tomato wedges in it you'd think you'd be getting a salad with pieces of bacon and regular size tomato wedges. Nope. My salad came with a strip of bacon on top of it, leaving me to break it into pieces and the so called wedges were two little cherry tomatoes cut in half. The ham and turkey was good. However, cheddar cheese shavings would have been a nice alternative to the Kraft like sandwich singles that were stacked and then cut into long strips. I had to separate them all before I could enjoy my salad. All in all in tasted good, but nothing exciting. Oh! and they have a wide selection of deserts to choose from. None of which we ordered, but they're in a showcase as soon as you walk in. All looked delicious. They also have an ice cream pie kept in the back. The restaurant is nice. The waitress was nice and we had a nice lunch. Was it 5 star worthy. No. It was just o.k. Definitely not going to be our "go to" restaurant.

Chicken fried steak dinner, yummy and huge. Will be 2 meals. Limited seating outside masks required. Smaller size menu but with all your favorites. They just added pies. Today the cashier was in training and even though I asked for breakfast he told me I was getting it (I knew but I didnt argue and I wasnt upset with real mashed potatoes). Everyone was very nice.

I took my wife to this restaurant a few days before Christmas. The restaurant is weld it, open in friendly. We had a nice lunch, had the turkey club, and the barbecue bacon cheeseburger. Both came with healthy portions for a reasonable price, the fries were done, right, and the server was very friendly. The food tasted great! the only bad mark would have been that the server did not come back and ask if we needed more water. This restaurant is a welcome addition to East Bakersfield, and I am eager to come back and try the breakfast and dinner menu.

We live on the other side of town, so driving to JoJo's is always a treat! We love his catfish and his fried okra is my favorite in town! He makes a great burger, too!! Today, I sampled his Boston cream pie, delicious !

I love it here! Great food, friendly staff, and wonderful home made pies and other desserts. Their fish and chips are so yummy!! Glad to have a local place in the neighborhood and who did everything they could to work during the pandemic and serve the public in a safe manner. read more

Four stars for now, but definitely on their way to five! New restaurant in the old Peking Palace location. Very similar to Spencer's (was told that the owner used to work there). HUGE portions. We ordered the catfish dinner and the chicken fried steak. Catfish was fried but not greasy. Chicken fried steak was tender. Mashed potatoes were REAL, and the gravy was excellent. Also come with a nice salad or a cup of beef vegetable soup, full of huge chunks of fresh vegetables. Menu is very limited and dinners are heavy on the "fried" options. No desserts yet, but the owner says they'll be selling pies soon. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I recommend checking this place out. I'll definitely be back! read more

First time here at Jojo's a couple weeks ago and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to post my review of the meal I had there. I got the fish and chips which was hands down, one of the most perfectly batter fried fish dinners I've had over the last year here in Bakersfield. Well the joint was pretty empty, it was extremely clean and modern looking inside. The waitress was very pleasant and my meal was prepared in a short order. We decided to try a new place that a few friends recommend. It was a Friday morning around 11. The waitress sat us down quickly and handed us our menu. I ordered the ham and eggs with a side of Biscuits and gravy. The gravy was really good and tasty! When the food was served a few minutes later the chef came out to check on us and to see how the food was. Which I thought was a nice gesture. I will be returning especially because it's so close to home. read more

JoJo's is Open! JoJo's, the new American diner style restaurant, where Peking Palace used to be, is open as of Friday 6/5! Just ate there and we all had breakfast and it was great. Make sure you go support this place so we can continue to have more dining options on the east side. The menu will be expanding over time, and is small for now. Jose the owner is great, and so was our waitress! We'll definitely be back! read more

Service was great, our waitress was super welcoming. The food has a very home made taste to it, if that makes any sense. Portion sizes are not overwhelming at all, but I did feel like the French toast breakfast was "small." My boyfriend literally finished it within 8 minutes. Stopped by for an early lunch, and I ordered the Bacon Burger with onion rings. It was excellent, particularly the bacon! Service was great, and the owner stopped by and chatted with us. He was really friendly and enthusiastic. I highly recommend JoJo's! read more

What's not to love about this place?? We originally discovered JoJo's during Covid when we'd order out from them. Always very impressed with their dinners. Then, a friend took us here for breakfast, and we were hooked. Friendly staff, top-quality food, and even homemade pies. Plus, the biscuits and gravy is fantastic, and so is everything else we've tried on the breakfast menu. The burgers are also unbelievable!! We've never had a bad experience dining here and never had a problem finding a seat. This is a place you can chill out, enjoy your meal, have a nice conversation, and hear the other people at your table. Even when the restaurant is full, it's never loud. On top of that, the owner always comes out to check on how your meal was. Really... this is a restaurant that cares about its customers. EASILY as good as Spencer's, and you always leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face. read more

I had noticed this place for quite some before finally trying it today, but hadn't tried it before because the menu seemed like diner-type food that you could find at many chain restaurants. Had I made a mistake in overlooking it? Absolutely, the food was phenomenal! I had catfish with fried okra and a side salad. Far from being Denny's-type diner fare, everything was fresh and tasty - the salad was crisp and tossed well, the catfish was top-notch and the okra was just the right amount of doneness (okra can be tricky and easy to overlook). Even the mashed potatoes stood out as flavorful and fresh - I guess I can't stress enough, everything was very fresh and delicious. I plan to go back soon and try more of the menu but just based on what I had it's hard to imagine anything not being at least good and probably very good. read more

We tried Jo Jo's Restaurant on Auburn/Fairfax in 93306 for the first time. I bought two Thanksgiving Turkey Plates on Thursday and we just enjoyed the meals today. They were delicious! I especially enjoyed the stuffing and my husband devoured his. This will be our 2021 Thanksgiving Plan as well. I saw they had a chili verde omelette special and we'll definitely be returning for breakfast and to try their chicken fried chicken. I've seen numerous positive reviews on nextdoorapp this past year and I can confirm they are the real deal!!! Let's take action neighbors to support this local family owned business who took a BIG risk opening in 2020 in the midst of all the challenges. They're making quality food and oh their pies. We purchased chocolate cream pie (whole pie) and 2 slices of pumpkin. Wishing Everyone A Healthy and Happy Holiday Season as Well as New Year fast approaching - to Kern County residents! (We're CA natives and arrived in Bakersfield mid-2018 and have met consistently kind and pleasant people from grocery stores to doctor's offices and neighborhoods)! The Best Fish And chips in town.. can't believe it Two huge pieces of cod crispy and good .. Watermelon ice tea.. Creamy cole slaw.. You can't beat this food.. Gush and chips onion rings and the soup.. no where in town do they serv food like this.. If you live on the east side and are looking for great food .. try JOJOs You will remember them.. Male server was horribly rude, poor service. He seemed to care only about our money rather than our experience. Not only was he unprofessional, he was argumentative with my elderly family members that questioned their meal - as it was not what was ordered. Will not be returning. I advise those who seek proper/adequate hospitality and customer service to stay far away from this establishment. Its not worth the time or money. read more

This place is a diamond in the rough. Incredibly friendly staff, and the owner/chef almost always makes a point to come out to greet his guests, despite probably being the most hardworking man alive. The food is incredible, with substantial portion sizes at a more than reasonable cost. The french fries are elevated with the perfect amount of seasoning salt. The seating and menu is somewhat limited due to COVID, but the tables are always spotless, and the specials are routinely replaced and never disappoint. Bring your friends. I would rate it six stars if I could. read more

Just a note..it looks dark from the outside but they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Open everyday 9am to 6pm for now. When Covid is over the hours will change. read more

First time diner, ordered the fish & chips and catfish to go for dinner this evening. Gonna make it simple, both dinners were delicious and most importantly, fresh. Who knew you could get great fish & chips other than the coast; and Jo Jo's were way better than most my husband and I have had along the coast. The cod and catfish were both lighty battered, generous portions and not greasy. The sides were also tasty and all traveled well. Will be going back to try other entres. Stopped by today for a quick bite, it was their first day opening. I got the Bacon Burger and my wife got the Chicken Avocado Sandwich; both were delicious! Prices are reasonable and affordable and customer service was great. Multiple people checked in on us. Glad to see another restaurant in the North East. We will definitely be going back. Doesn't look like much on the outside but my girlfriend and I gave it a shot anyway. The food was great and the service was even better. The waitress was very attentive and once we were done with the meal JoJo came out and asked us if everything was good. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone in the area. read more

Have been here several times. Decent food and normally good service. Was very disappointed today. Had chicken fried steak and eggs with home style potatoes. The best way to describe the food was that everything seems steamed. Nothing had any crispy edges or coating. Everything was soggy even though it was fried. Very disappointed. Last year I made a large reservation for about 10 ladies to celebrate someone and on the way to the restaurant they called to confirm the reservation (about 30 minutes before), but I did not hear my phone. When I arrived, a distraught friend told me that they did not have our reservation so I asked what the issue was. The manager told me because I did not confirm, they were not sure they were going to hold the table. I apologized that I had not recieved a call, but asked if we could still have the table (I was there on time and could see the large table with the reservation note on it). The manager begrungenly said they would allow us to still dine with them, but they said they would not seat us until more of our party arrived. I asked if we could wait for our party at the bar, but they said they would not because every seat at the bar was taken. So just a heads up, you cannot stand at the bar, you cannot stand around the restaurant, and they do not have a place to sit and wait for your table, you just have to stand outside (I'm sure it has to do with safety or firecodes, I didn't argue, we waited outside until people at the bar left). Once we were seated, the staff was not friendly. Wondering if we should leave or not, I called a friend who works near the building who frequents this place often on what I should do. He told me to go back inside and that the staff would be nice. When I returned, a new server came to our table with a tray of shots and said they would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. I figured maybe the manager and that other server was just having a bad day, my friend must have called the restaurant and asked his most trusted server to help us, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. I didn't want to risk it another bad experience, so I haven't returned since. A few months ago during the whole Cesar Chavez news broke out, that friend who frequented the place went with another friend to the Botonist and was talking about the news while they were dining. The manager overheard. Later when my friends were getting ready to leave, the manager started becoming upset with my friends and told my guy friend, "I HOPE SOMEBODY R*PES YOU". Stunned, he asked her to repeat herself and she did. My friends left. The chefs and building are wonderful, but obviously something needs to be done about the management and staff with being professional and treating customers with respect. I've worked in the service industry and understand how stressful it can be, but I have always been able to keep my cool around people who are trying to enjoy a nice meal. Hoping they recieve the help they need as I love to see my community thrive.

This afternoon, I made a brief stop at Jojo's, a popular burger joint located in the northeast part of our town. I was on a mission to grab some delicious burgers for my husband and myself. We had enjoyed their burgers on a previous occasion, and the taste had left us wanting more. Even though I was in a bit of a hurry, I decided to make a detour to Jojo's because I knew their burgers were worth the extra effort. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the tempting aroma of the grilled burgers. The menu board displayed a variety of options, from classic cheeseburgers to more adventurous creations. I quickly placed our order and waited for it to be ready. The staff was friendly and efficient, and it didn't take long before our order was ready. As soon as we got home, we opened the paper bag to reveal the steaming burgers. The buns were soft and fresh, and the patties were perfectly cooked. The toppings were generous, and the sauces added a burst of flavor to every bite. We savored each mouthful and enjoyed the delicious meal. Overall, Jojo's didn't disappoint. The burgers were just as scrumptious as we remembered, and we will definitely be back for more. read more
