A well deserved treat after a long hike! Very refreshing and flavorful. This was our second visit to jojos during our trip and this time we got the #6 and #10. I will say #2 and #6 are my two favorites so far. There's a little bit of a wait but it's well worth it! Great location with other shops to walk around too as well. read more

Excellent root beer float shave ice. As good as any island I've been on. My wife got the Kona Coffee Sundae. Nothing fancy- Coffee ice cream, mac nuts, and chocolate sauce. When you have great ingredients, it doesn't have to be fancy. Amazing! I'm guessing Lappert's ice cream. Took a little while to be waited on, but our orders came out quicker than expected. read more

Lots of different flavor choices to choose from, my husband and I opted for the local north shore flavor which came with lychee, pineapple and melona flavor and ice cream inside. The shave ice is a little chunky but it tasted good altogether. Service is quite quick, and there are tables for people to sit and enjoy their shave ice. read more

"If this was my first time trying shave ice I'd never order it again, anywhere" - Me. JoJo's has a few outposts on Kauai and, based on this visit, I'll be avoiding all of them, with ease, from here on. It wasn't the fact that they were very backed up and I had to wait (about 10 minutes) to place my order. No, it was the fact that what I was served tasted awful: Far too much ice, not very "shaved", not nearly enough syrup, and ice cream that (when I finally found it) tasted cheap. My goodness is this place GOOD!!! We went back, maybe we will go a third time before we leave the island. We ordered the Colada Special, it's really tasty. Very fruity and the flavor soaks through the entire portion of ice. The colada special has pina colada, strawberry colada, and banana colada. They are all equally good flavors. Also just found out that they make all of their syrups with pure cane sugar, no artificial stuff. At the bottom there is a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream, so creamy and not overly sweet. Yum!! Both times we've gone around 7pm, an hour away from their closing time, and have had no line at all. The servers are all chill and work quickly. You can eat your shaved ice on any of the tables just outside their little booth. All tables are relatively clean. Really recommend it! read more

Tropical Breeze was delicious. The macadamia nuts in the ice cream added an extra oomph that really deepened the flavor profile. So good! The shave ices come in 2 sizes- the small one was actually big enough for the 2 of us to share. The coffee shave ice combo from the menu (forgot what it was called) wasn't as good as the coffee one from Wishing Well Shave Ice. read more

I'm on vacation in Kauai right now. We've got shaved ice every day. The best buy hand was from Jojo's. I ordered a a loda calada and it was the best thing I've ever tasted. I don't even like coconut and the coconut cream on top was so delicious. The ice cream in the middle was game changing there wasn't a splash of ice that wasn't doused in syrup. It was so delicious and if I ever come back to Hawaii, I will be going there right away. no need to say the lines were very long because of the amazing and viral taste that is Jojo's but don't fear their service is fast and amazing and well worth the wait. I would sleep in a tent outside just to get Jojo's. read more

Wow! Amazing shave ice! We shared a Colada Special. Pina colada, strawbery colada, banana colada) with macadamia nut ice cream and homemade haupia cream topping. It was nighttime and raining when we went and there still was a line for this cold treat. There's a good reason why. JoJo's is awesome! We have some famous shave ice places back home on Oahu. JoJo's is tied for first place, making this a must try. Service is fast and friendly. There's lots of parking in the 2 private lots of Ching Young Village. This little hole in the wall is incredible. It was a hot and humid day, 3 people were working in this stand and they were incredible. Friendly service, good recommendations, and it was ready super fast. They had plenty of seating nearby and we finally understood the hype around shaved ice. We waited so very long to get our shave ice. I don't know why there were so many people in this little area at that time. So there was that... But really my shave ice was quite good. The only reason I took a star off is because my partner's version had so many nuts in it I just felt it distracted from the shave ice. I mean we should've read the small print, but jeez... We went to JoJo's based on online recommendations that there would be a dairy free ice-cream option. The employee who was working told us that they only had regular ice cream. Based on others experience, I think it is possible that he is incorrect and the"coconut" flavor could have been dairy free, but as it was not marked that way on the menu and he didn't seem to think it was dairy free, we didn't risk it. read more

Been coming here for years, and while prices have risen with inflation it is still worth it. The macadamia nut ice cream is delicious with the coconut shaved ice, the kona ice cream is amazing too. Service is quick and friendly, as is the environment-- it's got kind of a food truck feel and the tables outside are nice and shaded to enjoy your treat. Personable and tasty! read more

When coming to the northern side of Kauai, getting shave ice at JoJo's is a MUST! We have frequented this fab place three times and they never disappoint. The staff is super friendly, chatty and make you feel welcome. JoJos serves perfectly packed ice and even the small is quite large. Their flavor options are plentiful. The fact that one of the cashiers actually remembered that we had been here a couple of days ago was the snow cap on top. Patio tables are nearby to sit and enjoy in the outdoor mall as well as bar-type seating out front or take it and go to enjoy. Parking can be tricky but there is plenty around. I got the rainbow with vanilla ice cream scoop and it was yummy! In Vegas we have shave ice too but this one was just good in a different way. Maybe it's the Hawaiian air lol but it just hit different. The people behind the counter were so nice and service was efficient. There was a bit of a line but it went by so fast. Shave ice wasn't worth the money nor the time. We tried the wishing we'll shave ice and it was delicious. We wanted to try another place for the heck of it and Jojo's shave ice was not as good as the wishing well! It didn't have much flavor at all! The vanilla ice cream tasted super processed! At least we tried it and we know that it's not for us. I would recommend you all to go to the wishing well. read more

We have been serving great shave on Kauai since 1992. We started in Waimea and then expanded to Hanalei on the north shore. We upgraded the stores to the latest and best shave ice machines in 2014, switched to compostable cups in 2016.

Meet the Manager: Eric T.

Eric left the corporate world to work with his wife in supporting and giving to less privileged kids. The result is Makanalani, a free camp for less privileged kids, and located on the north shore of Kauai. ALL the Jojo's profits go to support the kids camp. Such a cute lil ice cream shop. You can smell right outside the door. It is very pink inside…read more I got a banana mac-nut brittle and a cookies & cream milkshake. And it was so good. It's a small shop so they only one group inside at a time, which I loved. They don't do tester but no need all the flavors are so good. This places warms my heart. I loved it so much. I understand that people have bad days but the girl behind the counter had a horrible attitude. A customer was asking more information on what the creamer used in the drinks was. The server was extremely short with her and it ended up that another customer in line had to explain the creamer to her! She also just couldn't care less about the customers or any questions in general and was very short with everyone. I won't let that take away from this awesome spot though. I got the mango smoothy and lilis favorite that is matcha, lavender, and coconut and it was very good!

I recently stopped by JoJo's Shave Ice about an hour before closing and found quite a crowd already there, both ordering and waiting for their treats. I decided on a s'mores ice cream, thinking it would be a quick pick given the late hour. As I waited, I noticed a bit of chaos at the service window. It became clear that some orders, including mine, were being forgotten. A few customers approached the window to inquire about their long waits, and it appeared that the staff was overwhelmed. One worker even mentioned that sometimes they accidentally swipe away orders on their system and forget them. After a 20-minute wait for a simple dish of chocolate ice cream topped with graham cracker dust, marshmallow, and a bit of fudge, I was underwhelmed. The lengthy wait for something so straightforward was disappointing, and there wasn't anything particularly remarkable about the flavor or presentation to make the wait worthwhile. In summary, my experience at JoJo's Shave Ice didn't live up to the hype, and the service issues added frustration to the visit. While the place may be popular, the quality and service I encountered were less than impressive. read more
