WOW! The best shave ice I've had in my life. I got the lilo & stitch & the makai. Both phenomenal. I did prefer the makai over lilo & stitch but both great options. The ice cream at the bottom ties all the flavors perfectly. We went twice during our trip. The first time someone in my party got the lilo & stitch with coconut ice cream instead of the vanilla. The second time, he ordered the same thing but the cashier (different from the first time) said he couldn't swap out the flavor of the ice cream. We thought the was weird. Jojo's is in the heart of Hanalei. You're surrounded by green luscious mountains, amazing shops, & great restaurants. The perfect spot to be in! I would rate the place a 100/10 if I could! read more

This place is decent. It's still excellent shave ice and worth going to, although there are better places in Kauai. Here was the ranking from our recent trip to the island (June 2026): Kauai Shave Ice Rankings 2026 1. (Tied) North Shore Bowls in Kilauea - very enjoyable and creative pre-designed flavor combos, nice fluffy ice, good ice cream, flavorful syrups 1. (Tied) Wailua Shave Ice - very enjoyable and creative pre-designed flavor combos, delicious toppings, very good ice texture and ice cream; too light on the syrup for one of our two trips 3. Wishing Well in Hanalei - good fluffy ice and really flavorful natural syrups; downside is it's very crowded (always!) and pretty basic 4. JoJo's in Hanalei - this is a standard shave ice place; ice was a bit compact and icy, but the syrup was plentiful (maybe too much, if you can believe that, for our one visit) and the ice cream was both generous and good 5. Hee Fat in Kapaa - great flavors but the syrup was light coverage, and the ice cream seemed gummy/freezer burned, ice was decent texture; used to be our favorite in Kauai in years past, but it hasn't kept up with other places and maybe the quality has gone down hill 6. My favorite shave ice on the island. Generous servings of ice cream at the bottom, friendly staff and great music! There are a few dedicated seats at the counter to sit and enjoy, but there are also tables and chairs around the corner in the center of the square. read more

We've been to 3/5. We were here 2 summers ago. There r some differences. Sizes are smaller but so r the prices. Also they omitted a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream e cream and replaced it w a vanilla scoop. You do have the option of adding chopped macadamia nuts. You can customize your choice but it's easier to go off the menu of various combos. I do recommend the Haupia topping. A sweet coconut sauce. Such an awesome spot to try shave ice! They have insanely good flavors - my personal favorite was Tropical Breeze. The ice is so soft it literally melts in your mouth, easily one of the best on the island. Service was super fast and friendly. The location is perfect too - close to downtown and parking, which is always a plus. Prices are are pretty much the same as everywhere else on the island. Why did we order the regular sized one? Cuz we dumb! Or maybe it was $$$ for ice. Slamming flavors and definite does the job of cooling you down. Lilikoi, mango, strawberry with macadamia nut ice cream. This is my favorite combination! Returning from our short but treacherous hike on the Kalalau Trail for a view of Napali Coast earlier, we made a stop at Ching Young Village in Hanalei. We had an early lunch then walked around looking at the various shops. I spied JoJo's. Anybody for shaved ice? Ordered - * hubby got the root beer float * daughter & I both went with Locals North Shore - three tropical flavors and macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom. We all got the Dakine size which is the kiddie size but it was very generous. There's outdoor seating. I'm not a huge fan of shaved ice but it was a nice day. To be perfectly honest, this was the best shaved ice that I've had in a long time. The portion size and that crazy syurp. . The only reason its not a 5 star is the guy making my order was pitting off negative energy. Which to a point I understand that we all have our days. Such a cute lil shop. The guy taking our order and making the shave Ice was super nice and some how we found common ground with where we're from because he likes our state basketball team. JoJo's was another spot that came highly recommended and as a lover of shave ice, of course I had to check it out. This location is in a little shopping center and is conveniently located right off the parking lot. It's a cute little stand with some unique flavors and large portions. Large meaning they only come in either 28 oz or 40 oz making it ideal for sharing. I went with the Locals South Shore and have to say it was very good and the Mac nut ice cream at the bottom was a great addition and left me wanting more. The prices range from about $9-12 depending on size and while that's a little more than I'm used to, it is decent for the size and remembering that this is located in a tourist area. There are a lot of cute shops in Hanalei when you are driving back from hiking the Napali Coast Trail. Jojo's had a good line in front of it, and an extensive menu of shave ice. I probably chose the wrong flavor (coffee). It didn't have much flavor, and I would choose a different one if I could do it again. Ice cream at the bottom of shave ice is a must for me, so it was good to get that, but as someone else said, not too flavorful. After you do a hike, shave ice is a good treat. It might be good to stick with the classics (rainbow, etc.). read more

It was pretty busy and waited in a long line, understandable though, it was super hot. Regardless waited 15 mins in line and then 10 more after ordering, so pretty steep for just one shaved ice. We ordered the Colada special, the smaller sized one. It was really good, so i get the attraction of the place, but, for that wait time, i probably wouldn't wait in line. There was not too much seating, and it was very crowded within its respective area. So expect to either enjoy it while walking around, or look at other tables from nearby locations. It is smack in the middle of the plaza, which is a great spot for business. The ambiance is always busy and the servers are always friendly. The lady that accommodates us recommended a lilikoi (local fruit) and guava combination. It was outstanding! Well, we were looking for some shave ice after leaving the Hanalei bread company for after lunch snack. He stopped in at JoJo Shave ice across the street at the Ching Young Village Shopping Center; right next to chicken and a barrel. I chose this place because from what I read they use cane sugar and not high fructose corn syrup. I neglected to verify that, but I will next time. There were picnic table seating for anyone dining in the area and a few counter seating right there in front of JoJo's where we sat. The young man that took our order was very pleasant and friendly. I ordered "Da small" A Lotta Colada w/ PINA', STRAWBERRY' & VANILLA' COLADA flavors and Haupia (coconut) cream for $7.99. All comes with some vanilla ice cream at the bottom. My hubby ordered Da Small Makai w/ COCONUT & PINEAPPLE flavors. For a small they are pretty nice size. They had a lot of flavor. Melted in your mouth. I found mine melted faster because it was in the sun in the cup. But my husband did not. We were entertained by chicken and her family up eight little ones. All in all it was very refreshing and we will return to a JoJo's shave ice elsewhere to see if they keep it consistent. As I understand there's more than just one location on the island. read more

Jojos shave ice was absolutely phenomenal! They have an incredible assortment of diffrent flavor combos such as Rainbow, Root Beer, and Pina Colada (My personal favorite). The location that my party attended was very convenient and pretty, and the ambiance was very fun with a lively vibe. The service itself was wonderful, friendly, and fast considering there was a long, overwhelming line. The shaved ice itself was really refreshing, and the personal touch of putting vanilla ice cream at the bottom is so creative and yummy. In my personal opinion, Jojos Shave Icd is the best shave ice out on the island and if yo have the opportunity to visit: 100% go! We got in line at 7:35pm. We waited 15 minuets for the person at the window to announce that the customer at the register would be the last person they would be serving at 7:50pm. Shop says it closes at 8pm and as I write this it says they are open for 5 more minutes. If you are closing up early, tell people as they enter the line. Horrible customer service. read more
