I spent over two hours in downtown Los Angeles in search of a suit or a jacket and shirt for a party on the east coast. Most of what I found in the stores were polyester dominant blends or unattractive designs. Suits were shiny or tailored for a body shape that was thinner than mine. Stores are also open to the street. Needless to say, I arrived after a most depressing shopping experience. When I went to The Men's Wearhouse, I easily found street parking (on a Sunday). I was greeted upon entry. I did not know the lay out of the store and the younger salesman who was attending me asked appropriate questions about what I was seeking. My tastes are somewhat older and many of the features or designs that I had wanted are no longer in fashion. The clerk, however, was able to extrapolate from what I was expressing to help me find something that might seem close to what I would want. When I asked him for measurements he took a variety of them; arms up, arms to the side, etc. I wasn't planning on buying a shirt, but I went for it anyway. I told him that besides having some extra space in the stomach, I absolutely needed a neck collar with some give. I was going to be wearing a tie and was not about to be pinched by it. The second shirt he found me was 100% cotton and an excellent fit . I was clear about my budget and he told me what the prices were of the garments before he offered me to try them on. At check out, he told me that if I were to sign up for the store's website, I would be given an on-the-spot discount that would cover the cost of the tax. I was extremely satisfied with this shopping experience and would whole-heartedly recommend the Men's Wearhouse in Pasadena for upscale men's garments. read more

Terrible customer service and terrible quality suits. Rented a suit for a friend's wedding but little did I know that I wasn't supposed to iron the shirt as it was supposedly all polyester (cheap material). Unfortunately the tag on the shirt was worn off and none of the associates warned me about not ironing. When I returned the suit to the store, instead of listening to my experience the store associate argued with me and I was forced to pay a fee. Avoid at all cost, and if you do rent from here know that the shirts are all polyester and non ironable. read more

I bought a suit for the funeral of a close family member. I got the suit home and tried it on and the fit was a little larger than when I purchased it a week earlier. I brought the jacket in for a smaller size. The store removed the tags because I asked them to open the pockets. On the day of the funeral when I tried to button the jacket and realized the button was on the lapel in a way that didn't allow for the lapel to lay flat. The day after I needed the suit I brought it back to return it. It hadn't been worn, but without the tags they won't accept it. THEY REMOVED THE TAGS. The suit was unusable and sold as separates. Take the unworn jacket back (at least) and offer an apology. The tags are in your possession! read more

That said, I needed an outfit for this weekend, and my wife and I went to MW on Lake Ave. They were slammed, but Brock still fit us in- which was super helpful. I went in 2 hours before a very important interview. I was dressed professionally for the interview but I was missing a blazer. I was helped by a gentleman named Eric. He was extremely nice and informative. I asked for a clearance blazer and was back with in a minute with the perfect blazer. The sleeves were a bit long and I asked him if there was something he can do quickly just so I can get to the interview. The current state of men's professional attire is at the lowest point in recorded history. And the competition for professional attire just doesn't exist. If you want a suit.. where else can you go then "Men's Wearhouse"? (Macy? JCPenny? Nordstrom?) I urge the staff at Men's Wearhouse to live up to the duty, responsibility and obligation (of selling merchandise that ENHANCE the buyer) As oppose to some garment that is simple/uncaringly/recklessly draped on ones back. There are a lot of ideocracies about suits (all the associates at men's Wearhouse knows them.) Wearing a "men's Wearhouse" suit signals to other (you are the most mediocre non-competitive non-ambitious person. I called to ask to place an item on hold, and the employee didn't ask for the item number and just tried to say Come in. I've had two amazing experiences with this store. My wedding suit journey started with a tiny high-end bespoke studio in downtown that hardly had anything to try on. We then decided to try Men's Warehouse which had an abundance of suits to try. The staff were very attentive despite it being somewhat busy at the time we went. I quickly got my measurements done and various shirts and accessories to try. Walked out happy with almost everything I needed. I came back around 4th of July and they were having a Military Appreciation Event (25% discount!) I was amazed by this and also by the fact that the gentleman helping us, Alfonso, was kind enough to credit our recent purchases with the discount. Came in a week ago with my suit pants. Spoke with a middle aged gentleman about tailoring. He informed the pants I had could not be expanded and informed me that I could come back with the new pants for hemming, and specifically that hemming could be done same day. The problem here is I brought in my own suit not purchased at the store. When I came back the following weekend with the right sized pants someone claiming to be the manager, said he could do it in 15 minutes. Once he found out the pants are not theirs, he turned me down saying their was a two week lead time. How fucked up is the communication between the mens warehouse team that their employees don't even know their own policies. Let alone to turn someone away after their own internal mixup. Blakey, Lakey, or whatever the young manager's name is does not understand basic customer service. It's not like they were busy either. He was literally standing and shooting the shit with his employee. All he seemed to care about was telling me that that older man wasn't the manager and that he was. He even said "he's only there a couple times a week". Brother, does that even matter? There's a problem in front of you, fix it. Calling yourself a manger is a joke. Recently, I started looking into getting my first suit, but being non binary, assigned female, I knew that would not such a simple search, as not all places are comfortable serving those of us who are part of the LGBTQIA+ communities. A fellow non binary friend had a good experience at Men's Wearhouse and recommended them. But I hesitated for awhile because I didn't know if their experience was something that could be experienced chain wide, or an individual store thing. I was leaning toward ordering online so I wouldn't have to risk transphobia and the cost would be less expensive most likely, but ultimately decided to give them a chance, since I saw they offer free measurements and I figured I could at least have a knowledge of my size to use for more accurate online ordering. I called the Pasadena store to see if they would be willing to provide measurements to me, and was told that that would not be a problem. The time finally came to make my visit. I was nervous but also excited in some ways to be taking these steps. One of my brothers took me and we walked in the back door. Walking toward the middle, near the cash registers There were several employees. I wasn't sure who to go to to get started, but one of them (George) approached and asked how he could help us. When I explained that I was there for measurements and that I was non binary, he showed no signs of discomfort at that. When I told him the colors of our flag and that I wanted them in the suit, he helped me look for a few things with those colors. He was also very respectful to my brother. As for the measuring part he did it very professionally and delicately so I was not uncomfortable at all. I appreciated that he was not pushy, but did offer feedback about how an item is traditionally worn, where it sits,etc. I ultimately decided to make a purchase after all and as part of the package a tie was included. I had one already but George made sure to look through the ties for one that had one of my flag colors! I wasn't able to take it home that night, unfortunately, but was grateful that the reason was due to alterations being done, so the suit would fit nicely. And I wouldn't have to worry about taking it elsewhere. When the suit was ready we went back to try it on and it was such an awesome moment, even better than the first night which was already pretty amazing and magical. Especially because of the mirrors they have there that help you see from multiple angles! George was not there but we were helped by Christopher who was also very respectful of me and of the two siblings that went with me that time. He didn't make us feel rushed when we had questions or wanted a pocket square that was close to my colors, etc. (Neither did George). We ended up having the suit held for me at the store for a bit and made another visit to purchase the few items to make the suit perfect for my special day. Each time everyone was so kind and those that recognized me from before asked how things were, shared in my enthusiasm, etc, including the woman who worked the registers ( I THINK her name was Maria, but am not certain). I was able to be freely ME! Something I don't take for granted. Thankfully I never had any interactions with hostile customers, another thing I don't take for granted. One more thing that i appreciated: they gave me a garment bag that did not have their label on it. Which meant that it was more subtle and would be less suspicious if certain non supporters saw it. The main bummer is that the prices are definitely out of range for us and quite a few others. Had a friend not wanted to buy my suit and accessories as a gift, I would not have been able to get it nearly as soon as I did. If you sign up for their email list, there are almost always sales and clearance (65% off, many times, which really is helpful). Since my own experience I have been spreading the word now, especially to my LGBTQIA+ friends that this is a safe space for us with an amazing selection! As is their phone support who I called after my visit to compliment George and the store! And am leaving it here too just in case it will help someone else. read more

I went the Men's Warehouse store this week on a Monday morning, and was planning to buy two suits. I was seriously considering purchasing Joseph Abboud suits, and wanted to know more about them. There were three sales staff in the store, and I was the only person there. One salesperson was on his phone and the other two appeared to be having a personal chat. Eventually, I was approached by a salesperson and she asked if she could help me. I said sure, and mentioned I was struggling to find my suit size because the sizes were all mixed up. She said, "I know what you mean, I have the same problem." I told her I'm usually a 44r. She made no effort to help me find the 44r's. I asked her about the suit fabric: type of wool, wool blend, quality (superfine 100, or 120)? She said, "What does a superfine mean? All I know is they're a good wool blend." A quality suit has a full or half canvas lining. Canvas shapes to the body, making for a better fit. I asked if the suits have a canvas lining. Her response was, "I don't know what you mean." Another member of the sales staff piped up and said, "We don't sell canvas suits." I found a 44r jacket and tried it on, and wanted some feedback on the fit. However, the salesperson had disappeared. At that point I thought I'm in the wrong place to make a purchase and then promptly left the store. Questions: Why don't the sales staff keep the sizes separated on a routine basis, and help the customer find their size? Why isn't the staff better trained on the details of the goods they're selling, and about suit quality in general? Shouldn't the salesperson stay with the customer? Conclusion: The front office needs to fully train staff and monitor the employees more closely. read more

I went to rent tuxedos for an upcoming wedding and I found the prices to be a bit high but chalked it up to the higher cost of living. But this is all a ruse people, as the email address is never answered. They think Yelpers are stupid, by posting a response to a negative review, to make it look like they care. Yelp should allow us to report such abuse, and have their reply removed from our review. Don't be fooled people, this store and its corporate office are all sh!t. Now a tip for my fellow Yelpers - if you need a suit, go down to Los Angeles street in downtown and stop by any number of men's suit stores. They have suits for $69 that match the quality of Men's Warehouse. All suits are made in China these days, and Men's Warehouse or Jos A. Bank all get their suits from the same manufacturers as these downtown stores. The suits you find downtown are the same, just at a much lower price. read more

The customer service is absolute garbage here. Came with a large groomsmen party with the intent of getting rentals at our appointment time. Did not receive any greeting when we entered. Stood awkwardly for 10-15 mins in the middle of the store with the large group without a word from any of the employees. Rental desk tells us to go to the register. Register tells us to go to the rental desk. Finally an employee comes to help us but was less than friendly. I asked what suits they had and he threw down a few options on the table (very limited by the way). No explanation. No advice. With that kind of service, it just didn't feel right to pay $249 per person to rent when you can probably buy the full ensemble for the same price. We left. read more

Alfonso is really amazing at what he does! My fiancée and I went in for the first time to get a new suit for an event we were attending. Alfonso was really great at helping us out despite it being a full house in the store. He even helped us color match the dress shirt and tie to the suit. They were also able to accommodate us with a quick turnaround on the alterations! We enjoyed our experience so much that I ended up getting my dad a suit here, through Alfonso's expertise. My dad had a stroke many years ago and is unable to use the left side of his body. Alfonso was very patient and sensitive to my dad's disability, and I truly appreciated that from the bottom of my heart. He even joked around and brought my dad a stylish hat to finish off his look and my dad honestly looked like a million bucks. He looked so happy looking in the mirror and I give Alfonso so much credit for our wonderful experience. Just last week, we returned again to Alfonso to buy a tux for my fiancée and he did not disappoint. This guy really knows what he is doing and goes above and beyond for his customers. His suggestions are always on point and we trust his opinion 100%. We are also moving to the Valley soon but my fiancée straight up said he will still be returning to this location to see Alfonso for his future suit needs. This review is specifically giving 5 stars to Formalwear Manager Nathaniel. I basically dumped my problem onto him last minute to solve. . . and I really do mean last minute. I called him up explained my issue, and he told me the only way he could literally help was if I got down to the store and took all the measurements and submitted the order within 30 minutes and not a SECOND later as the system would be shut down and I could not get my suit on time. 25 minutes later . . . still with 5 minutes to spare, Nathan took care of me and got everything done. It was the fastest fitting I had ever done . . . but he said he had done faster. I cant thank him enough for saving the day! read more

Today, I was returning a pair of pants that ripped only six weeks after I purchase them. I was told that I needed to purchase another and there was no reimbursement or incentive on the new pair of pants. They stated the pants could not be repaired. I was a bit disappointed that there was no consideration on my trying to find some type of alternative. I like to think that I am a fair guy and willing to find some type of solution, but I felt dismissed by their manager working today. She did not even try to maybe give a discount or maybe include some small items with the new purchase ( ties, socks, etc). She seemed to make light of my business. I have been doing business at the Lake Avenue Mens Wearhouse store in Pasadena Ca for almost a decade, but will likely have to reevaluate my future purchasing decisions, especially at that location. Rented a tux and turned out okay. Came in on a weekend to get fitted and the two ladies working there seemed to never smile, nor provide any help, just wanted me to quickly decide and purchase. It was as if I did something wrong, was not supposed to ask questions, and felt like I was somehow inconveniencing her (the manager), really poor attitude especially considering there was no other customers. I came back on another occasion and another lady was there and she was also pretty cold and unhelpful. HOWEVER, when I came back to pick up and return my tux, I had some questions and I was served by a super helpful staff named Eric who pretty much salvaged my overall bad experience. He helped explain a lot and fixed some mistakes made by his colleagues. If not for this guy, I would have given this place the one or two stars it deserved. Tuxes are pretty nice, some stylish and traditional offerings, but if you can't get the right size or get time to decide, then no real point. read more
