Large perch dinner (fries, 2 hushpuppies, bread)
Amanda B.

The perch pieces were large and I got 3 of them. I didn't know about this place before today but it was amazing! The perch has a nice spice to it and was extremely soft and moist. The jumbo shrimp were actually jumbo!! Awesome portions and very tasty. Mild sauce for the shrimp was crazy good.

Fish was on point, tasty and cooked just right. Only downside lack of seats. Great customer services.

I agree. Please don't rush the process. The perch reminds me of home . The order taker was great.

It was busy but not packed as it was relatively early. We had to wait about 15 minutes before we got a booth in the main dining room. Our server was awesome, Linda! She was friendly and efficient! On top of her game! It's old school inside but the food and baked goods are delicious! My sandwich was good but I want to try them for breakfast. Hubby enjoyed his omelette! The food is great and home style prepared. It was nice to go back in time!

When it arrived, I cut it in half to check the temperature and found it was overcooked and served cold. I sent it back expecting a fresh remake, but I was returned the same burger, already cut in half. It was clearly reheated rather than remade. The top bun was steamed and soggy, while the bottom was wet and hard in places. The lettuce was hot and wilted, which would not happen with a freshly prepared burger. Based on the condition of the food and other reviews mentioning similar issues, it strongly suggests the burger was microwaved rather than properly remade. My partner ordered a medium-rare steak for his NY skillet, but it came out tough and overcooked, showing a lack of attention to basic temperature instructions. There was also an order error: the French toast was missing from his order and only brought out later after we flagged it and checked the receipt. Our waitress did apologize and offered to have the burger remade, but given the quality of the first attempt, I did not feel confident the kitchen would prepare it correctly on a second try, so I declined. Management ultimately adjusted the ticket to resolve the issue. When we paid, the host/cashier did not ask whether we enjoyed our meal, which added to the impression that customer experience was not a priority. The only positives were the sweet potato fries and the lemon rice soup. Overall, this visit fell far below acceptable standards in both food preparation and service. I would not recommend this restaurant.

The service was just a tad slow being that the menu wasn't too broad. I ordered the mozzarella sticks with fries, an add on tender and a slushie. The mozzarella sticks and fries were tasty and the tender was nice and juicy definitely will buy again, next time I'll try to go up on the heat scale. Only thing that I'll probably pass on is the slushie, it had good flavor but the ice too liquid ratio is off, I actually ended up with a cup of dry ice, not cool for the price I wanted to order a small but you only have one size (small) for 3.99.

I wouldn't call this fast food chicken since they don't have a drive-through. When you do order at…read morethe counter, they make it hot and fresh. It usually takes about 10 minutes...if you don't wanna wait - just order ahead and go pick it up. I've done both and inside it is clean and fresh! Onto the food let's talk about this excellent chicken. These are not tiny chicken tenders. They are large juicy, crispy and seasoned in a way you might not think until you've tasted it and then you'll know you need this flavor in your life. For me, I've tried both the medium and the hot varieties and if you want a little more kick go with the hot because the medium is really like a mild. They have a great dipping sauce for the chicken and I also recommend adding some honey packets as well. The fries that come in their basket are seasoned to perfection, crispy and great in the sauce too. I have had their slider with coleslaw and pickle, but for me, I just prefer the chicken strips alone themselves. All in all this is one of the best chicken tenders I've ever had. It's a step above Byrds Hot Chicken because of the size of the chicken.

I was like cool but I didn't want that. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. I asked the cashier if I could get it without the bun and she walked to the cook and stood there. She didn't tell him anything but came back and asked what did I say. I repeated that I wanted my sandwich without the bun and she seemed very confused. I think it was the fact that I disturbed her phone texting or whatever she was doing on her phone. At that point she had an attitude with me so I just said it's ok. Never mind. She bagged up my food and I look in the kitchen. The cook still had his blue gloves on and stuffed some French fries into his mouth then proceeded to make an order. Oh my God! I have been to this location before but never have seen this cook or the cashier before. I'm going to have to scratch this restaurant off of my go to list.

I will try again but i hope this place an turn around or they will lose a lot of customer that just started to come here seeing it was already a new place before it was sold.

It pains me to leave a low review on such a classic, but after visiting Schoop's for the first time…read morein nearly a decade, I left pretty disappointed -- especially for a place that's long been a Region staple. Everything is a la carte, which I understand for a diner, but the pricing felt pretty shocking. A single burger runs close to $9, and a double cheeseburger is $18 -- without fries or anything on the side. That's double the price I remember, with no noticeable improvement in quality. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and unfortunately, the chicken just wasn't great -- a little chewy and not the best quality. The highlight of the meal was the Irish nachos, which thankfully taste just as good as I remembered. The ambiance hasn't changed much -- which is expected and even a little nostalgic -- but things like the bathrooms are definitely starting to feel dated. Service was fine, though I never did get a drink refill before deciding to just go ahead and pay. Overall, I hate to see a local classic like Schoop's decline, but based on the prices and food quality, I can understand why folks might think twice about coming back. I know I am.
