    Chicken and Biscuits
    Elisabeth M.

Met up with an old friend. The coffee kept coming and brewed just right. Friendly and attentive service. The food exceeded expectations for this small corner lot diner. We ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken was great, the waffles average. The other dish was chicken and biscuits. It was really good too.

3.5/5 -- I didn't do my due diligence while in Dallas to decide where to dine, so my food itinerary fell a bit flat following the State Fair. Whew! That's some alliteration for you! lol But, a friend recommended we dine here... it was no frills, the service was attentive and had a lengthy enough menu. At the time, I wasn't wowed by any of the menu items, but was approaching the hangry zone, so figured I'd give it a try. My Fowl Burger was super fresh with soft, wheat grain bread topped with a thick chicken patty and a lot off fresh fixins! Generously, it came with a side--i opted for the Spicy Braised Greens and BOY! did they have a kick to them! Thankfully, I had some water nearby! If you like heat, then these greens are definitely for you; I do think they could've been more balanced with the vinegar. The Irish Coffee had a bit too much Bailey's and not enough Jameson, but for a Dallas day with torrential rain, it passed the vibe check.

We had a large family gathering here and the service and food were excellent. The chicken and waffles were a favorite as well as the huevos dishes. When I am in the area again, I would come back!

By far the best pork chop and eggs I've had. Ever. I am very picky about my breakfast and they nailed it.

I'd visited Jonathan's Oak Cliff location before they moved to Forestwood and I was excited to see them finally open. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon with a co-worker for lunch and it was not very busy so we were able to be seated immediately. I ordered the Torched Cherry Limeade cocktail and it wasn't bad but I felt like it really lacked flavor. It didn't have much of a cherry or limeade punch to it, it's made with lemon lime soda, lime and Bacardi Dragonberry but it just seemed a little watered down with none of the flavors really shining through so this isn't a drink that I would recommend or order again. To eat I ordered the All In One Waffle which has bacon baked right into the waffle and is topped with scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, green chilies and pork sausage and then smothered in their signature pepper gravy and hot sauce. This dish was really good but left me wanting just a little bit more crunch and texture, next time I get it I will probably order a side of bacon and crumble it on top just for some added crunch but overall it was really good and I highly recommend it. My friend ordered the chicken and biscuit and it came with a huge piece of fried chicken breast on top of the biscuit, it looked absolutely amazing and that's what I will definitely order on the next go-round! The service was excellent and the food came out hot and fresh since everything is made to order and I'm over the moon to come back again.

Shhhhhh. Jonathon's is a secret! Well not really. The locals know it well for amazing, scratch cooking and what seems to be a new style muffin every day. How do they do it? Wildly friendly staff complement the eclectic menu of stand breakfasts/brunch fare with Jonathon's southern twist. His brown gravy is off the hook. I had it over the Chicken n Biscuit. That's a lot of food. For a lighter apatite go with the chicken and gravy off the side menu. Sure there are mimosas and beer but on the weekend there's a Bloody Mary bar!!! Are you a DIYer? Well here's your chance to be a mixologist with house made Mary Mix and all the fixns. This not so greasy spoon diner is a true find but you can only enjoy it for breakfast and lunch. Act now before the muffins run out.

My husband had been to the original location and raved about how great it was - but not the area. We were highly anticipating the opening of this location. While it was not bad, it was priceyyyy. We spent over $50 on breakfast. Everything was good, but I don't normally spend so much on this type of meal for two. We did get the Danger Dogs to start- they were pretty good. I had the sopapilla waffle with a side of bacon- it was a lot so some came home with us. My husband got the chicken and waffles. I also had an orange juice which was fresh squeezed. Overall, our server was good, food was decent- and we beat the rush in the morning (luckily). Additionally, there is plenty of parking. If you are in the area its not bad food, worth checking out.

Welcome to the neighborhood Jonathon's! I came here for breakfast and they have done a great job capturing the essence and ambiance of the Oak Cliff store. That's a positive for me since that is part of their charm! The service is always great at Jonathon's! I have always had friendly servers and the food arrives in a timely manner regardless of how busy they are, so that is a good thing! My biggest disappointment in this visit was the highly touted chicken fried steak. It was just ok...

    Brunch Kabobs

Having had the pleasure of dining at their other location on Beckley, Jonathon's Diner, I kinda of knew how this experience would pan out, and I was not disappointed. The wait on a Sunday at around 11 AM wasn't too bad, about 20 minutes. We started out with the Brunch Kabobs, which is smoked sausage, ham, and bacon with a coffee glaze, super yummy!! I ordered the Migas, and my dining partner ordered the Breakfast. Both were super delicious and were devoured rather quickly. That happens when you're hangry!! Definitely check this place out. It's tucked away behind the Forest Car Wash & Detail.

Chicken fired steak as big as the plate - that's what I read in a review and that's exactly what I got! It did not disappoint. A couple of over easy eggs and some of their brunch potatoes finished out my plate. Highly recommend this for the CFS fans. My wife had the Nooner - a brunch burger - it was delish. John was our server and did a great job, restaurant was busy but my coffee cup was constantly topped off. I'd say for a busy restaurant the noise level is what could be expected. Great spot for breakfast or brunch!

    Country Benedict with a biscuit

Walked into a warm welcome. Great mom and pops style place with a great down home breakfast. Started with a vanilla latte, that came perfectly sweetened, no extra. I ordered the country Benedict sub the English muffin for a biscuit. The gravy was on point as usual. Overall extremely pleased. I came pretty early so there was not wait.

We had breakfast in the hotel and our server was helpful, friendly and had a sense of humor. We visited the pool and were surprised that it was not heated. The hotel gym was decent, could use a better (newer) bench but it had the basics. Our room had everything we needed (the bed was quite soft) and a great view of the eye across the street. My first shower would only get warm and not hot so maintenance had to come up and show me a safely button to push which allows the water to get hot. This was after texting with hotel staff (a very helpful option) but surprising that they didn't just tell me about the button and chose to send maintenance. We were in room 852 on the North side of the hotel and overlooking the eye. We came back from dinner around 10 on Saturday night and were kept awake until about 1:30am. I guess Main St is where people choose to drive their cars with the music so loud it feels as though it's in your hotel room. The motorcycles and cars also like to rev their engines.... A LOT. The windows appear to be single pane and they don't keep any noise out at all. Due to the noise level, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.  Being on the 8th floor and feeling like I was in the cars that were driving on main st and blaring music 2 nights in a row was incredibly disappointing.  If this was a 2 star hotel, okay.  That is not the case.  Upgrade the windows to double or triple pane.  Your location is great, service was friendly and efficient, but one generally wants to sleep at night and that is not possible at your hotel. We even asked the front desk on our second morning if we should change rooms and were told Sunday nights were quiet. I should have listened to my gut as our Sunday night was not quiet. Although the amount of cars & motorcycles wasn't as much as on Saturday, we still heard several cars with music blaring or motorcycles reviving their engines until around 1am. This was the beginning of a long overdue vacation and birthday celebration and it did not get started on the right foot unfortunately.

That's when the very kind gentleman--who we later learned was Victor Hugo--let us know another table would be clearing shortly so we could move. Top-tier service already For appetizers, we went with the brisket balls, duck taquitos, and a pitcher of pineapple mimosas . Let me tell you... those duck taquitos were SO good That crema?? We started off with a pitcher of mimosa and the duck taquitos. I'm usually not a fan duck however I was told to give it a try. If you hadn't told me it was duck, I probably would have thought it was chicken. The mimosa was a build your own, it came with 3 juices - orange, pineapple and cranberry - and you got to pour as much or as little juice as you wanted. Between the two of us, we each got about 3 glasses. I got the French toast, which tasted like a deep fried donut, in a good way. The outside was crunchy, the inside still had the pillow custard texture. However in my opinion it needed more of the apple pecan slaw especially if you weren't trying to drown them in syrup. My friend had the chilequillas which she really enjoyed but did mention a few times that it was a little spicy. We ended the meal with dessert which was rich and luscious but oh so delicious. It was a cholesterol mouse that was covered in a hazelnut chocolate shell with a raspberry sauce. Overall a great time was had & I'd gladly go back to try more.
