We found this gem and I can tell you that it was WONDERFUL! We walked in and were greeted with smiles and excitement. There is a bar and comfy sitting area and plenty of tables. I'm going to full up admit that I did a terrible job getting pictures so you're just going to have to trust me. I got to see and visit with my daughter and granddaughter so was over the moon! We ordered the Grilled Lamb Chop Lollipops and the Brisket Risotto Balls for an appetizer. There are only 3 lollipops but they were INCREDIBLE! The presentation was beautiful! The brisket risotto balls were good. Think "boudain" balls. Reinspired and tasty. I ordered the Duck & Rope Pasta, my other half ordered the Beef Arrarbbiata and my daughter and granddaughter shared the Steak Frites. All of it was delicious! The duck confit in the Duck & Rope Pasta was perfect! Don't be scared on this one. It is worth it! For dessert, we ordered the Ferrero Rocher and HOLEY MOLEY! It was huge and delicious. Came for brunch and what a wonderful time was had! We grabbed a spot on the patio and Johnna was our server. She was friendly, attentive, and gave some great suggestions. We started off with a pitcher of mimosa and the duck taquitos. I'm usually not a fan duck however I was told to give it a try. If you hadn't told me it was duck, I probably would have thought it was chicken. The mimosa was a build your own, it came with 3 juices - orange, pineapple and cranberry - and you got to pour as much or as little juice as you wanted. Between the two of us, we each got about 3 glasses. I got the French toast, which tasted like a deep fried donut, in a good way. The outside was crunchy, the inside still had the pillow custard texture. However in my opinion it needed more of the apple pecan slaw especially if you weren't trying to drown them in syrup. My friend had the chilequillas which she really enjoyed but did mention a few times that it was a little spicy. We ended the meal with dessert which was rich and luscious but oh so delicious. I came here on a Sunday evening to grab dinner for one. It's dark and intimate on the inside and it also has a patio where they played sports on the tv. It wasn't too crowded but it looked like there was one server and one bartender. The bartender pitched in to help out even thought I sat on the patio. She also helped me with my order. As an app, I got the duck taquitos which were fantastic. They were crispy in the outside and I liked the cream that came with it. As an entree, I got Zoe's carbonara and I didn't like it too much. Such a cute place with excellent service and calming atmosphere. We started with the brisket balls then moved to entrees of wagyu beef roast and lamb chop. Derive was Overwhelming!! I have 3 different servers come to the table to ask if they could take my order! I only got the opportunity to order appetizers, which I wasn't mad with because they were so bland that I didn't want to waste my money on food, unfortunately. I will say that the brisket balls were very fresh and the sauce was really good, but the flavor as a whole was lacking. I expected to bite into the balls and be surprised, but wasn't. If I had to compare them to anything they were like Boudin balls then ordered the duck taquitos thinking they would have a little more flavor and they didn't! They were fried to perfection though. A BIG welcome to the neighborhood for Chef Victor Hugo, his team and latest creation, Bucket & Rope!! I am a huge fan of what they are doing. For openers, the building has a lot of history, going back to the late 1800s it was home to Liberty Bank and actually located a few blocks away. Over a decade ago, the building was targeted for demolition to allow for street widening project. It was a purchased by a management company for $1 and then relocated to its current location. Shortly, after that is when Green Door Public House operated until the latter half of 2024. When they closed and moved out I was hopeful the space would continue to be used for a restaurant of some type and little did I know that plans were underway. Chef Hugo and team swooped in, made a few improvements, established a new menu and wallah...Bucket & Rope is on the scene!! If it was possible, I'd give them 10 stars!! This has quickly become my favorite place for food, sips and great experiences. It took me forever to make my way there but since doing so I've been there almost weekly. The food is that amazing!! To date, everything I've tried has been mind-blowing delicious. So far, I have tried Rope In A Bucket which is there spin on calamari...this is a must have for a starter. From the sandwiches section of the menu, I've had Mike's Burger which is Wagyu served on a brioche bun with all the trimmings...simply delicious!!! My favorite item from the entree section is the Blackened Texas Redfish. It's served a creamy parmesan risotto, green beans and mango-habanero salsa and it never misses!!! For dessert, I've had their pecan pie which is served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Recently, I stopped through for brunch and had the Hot Chicken sandwich along with an order of Blueberry Pancakes...all delicious!! Thankfully, I'm fairly disciplined when it comes exercising otherwise, I might have issues thanks to Bucket & Rope. The staff is top notch! Everyone is always friendly, welcoming and seem to enjoy what they are doing. Add to that, on many of visits, Chef Hugo has been present and spends time greeting guests and ensuring things are running smoothly. As for parking, there is a small free parking lot next to building. Otherwise, there is some street parking in the vicinity. Lastly, when you visit, as you enter, be sure to look up (out of all the times I've been there, I never noticed that until my most recent visit...what a nice touch). Came here on a Thursday evening surprised to see how empty it was since it had such good reviews. I guess I was just late for happy hour. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive throughout the evening. I ordered my food and it came out quickly and delicious. You have to look for it because it is in a converted brick building that is very much part of the ambiance. 2. Not sure about the name, but there is a bucket and rope above the entrance. 3. Relatively small place about 12-15 tables close together 4. Service was 9.5 5. Food was 9.5 a. We had calamari that looked like chicken fingers verse the usual round circle type. It was delicious! b. I had the 2 redfish with risotto , one branzino , and pasta dish. C. We did not have dessert but we did have cocktails that were very good too. Arrived at 5 on Sunday to find staff lounging in the couch area but was seated at a table quickly. I asked our server 3 questions about beverages from what appeared to be a full bar and she was unable to answer any of them so I ordered water. She started walking away and had to be called back to take my daughter's drink order. We both ordered side salads; daughter Kale Arugula Caesar and plain dinner for me. Waitress was unable to tell me what salad dressings were available so I quickly picked one out for myself from other salads on the menu. Waitress later returned stating that they had no more arugula and was that ok with us: no suggested substitutions from the chef or any indication what would be arriving. We rolled the dice and said fine and our salads arrived immediately, they had already been made so why ask? My daughters Caesar not only had no arugula it had no kale. Just anemic looking romaine. No sooner had I taken a couple of bites of salad our entrees were plopped down in front of us. I ordered the Bronzino with quinoa cherry tomatoes and capers. My food was uniformly beige and unappealing. Fish was cooked fine but tomatoes and capers had had the life cooked out of them. My daughter ordered steak frites: cook was wrong temp, broccolini served on top of frites and frites had zero salt or seasoning. Waitress never came back to check on us until we had finished poking at our food to clear our plates. When she saw that I had eaten very little of any of it she asked how it was. I responded "meh". She chuckled nervously and said " not good but not bad, ehh" as she started to scurry away. I called out to her and said I would like dessert and asked if they had the pecan pie ( several things had been "out") and she said "oh. For sure!" Only to return and say they were out of that as well. My daughter and I both ordered the bread pudding which was oddly soggy in spots, crunchy in spots and chewy. I ate the ice cream and called it quits. We then sat and waited, and waited for our check. I eventually got up and walked past the lounge /couch area where our waitress and other staff members were sitting to use the restroom. To be fair, our waitress was at least folding napkins. I was there for a volleyball tournament and stayed very close... when I browsed Yelp and saw a 4.9 rating I had to visit and let me tell you.. I was so so so happy that I did! I got a cup of corn chowder ( I could not believe my fav soup ever was on a special that day). Soup was light and creamy and so so tasty! I also ordered tuna tartar. Beautiful presentation, so much flavor and quality! Last one was a lunch portion of Gigi pasta w shrimp. I know and love food and those were the juiciest shrimp I have ever had! Dish was colorful, so much taste... it has walnuts and penne pasta was cooked perfectly, all that w pesto sauce! Wow! An amazing experience and the following day I brought my friends there for dinner! This restaurant was a nice and not too far away from the convention center. There is outdoor and indoor seating and the brunch was really good. We ordered the angry bird and the Ruby's grilled cheese. The tomato soup was really good! The Angry bird was an interesting flavor. It is really spicy and sweet. We went for lunch today and upon sitting down, we were given bread with the best pesto (must order a pesto dish next time) Our server was kind and attentive.
