A church, a set of electrical wires and some pulled pork. The three intersect in most direct of ways within this homey joint in the middle of this railroad town named Temple, Georgia. From the outside to the inside, it is a fairly classic countryside establishment that has a homey feel to it and a welcoming, yet confusing to outsiders atmosphere. All the classics are here: pulled pork, baked beans, fried okra, potato salad. Walking in, the couple resident guests who likely consider themselves part owners give the stare down, in the same fashion that they do for their cat when it drags in a rattlesnake into the house. Asking if the sauce comes on top or side of the pulled park, the waitress pleasantly informs that the chef does either depending on the day, thus going back to check what kind of mood they are in today. Yeah, it's that kind of a joint and there is nothing wrong with it. It is a different world than the city that's a mere half hour away. As far as the meal, the pulled pork is all-right. A bit dry, not particularly fresh, but standard mass produced pork. The okra is excellent. The potato salad is very vinegar centric, to a degree that made it a bit hard to actually finish, but could be of flavor for some. With all of that said, Jones BBQ is still a much better option than the fast food options in town and worth a stopover if passing through Temple. We'd been hearing that the food was pretty good and the people were nice, so we stopped in today for lunch for the first time. We got there at 1:15. Walked in and few people looked up (workers and customers), but no one spoke. There were probably 10 tables occupied in the restaurant. EVERY other table had dirty dishes on it (probably 20 tables). We stood there for a minute or so and looked for a clean table in the first room and didn't find one, so we stepped into the second room. Same story there. So we sat at one of the dirty tables. I know for a fact that at least two employees saw us, because we made eye contact. We sat at a dirty table for almost 10 minutes. Not ONCE did anyone say hi, tell us they would be with us in a minute, apologize for the wait, offer to clean the table, or even smile at us....nothing. So we got up and left. Lousiest experience I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Have never felt so unwelcome in a place in my life. I worked in the foodservice industry for a long time. I know about it. Maybe they were short-handed, but anyone knows that a "hey y'all, sorry about the mess. We are short-handed today. Pick you a place to sit and I'll have it cleaned off as soon as I can" goes a LONG way. I'd have sat happily and waited. Would have bumped up my tip too (and I already tip heavy). I know it's hard work, and I appreciate that....but when you don't even make an effort to speak to me, I won't be back. read more

Order a hamburger steak well done...had to send it back and it still was,nt done...they dont care either when you complain...19.00 bucks for a salad an baked potatoe...the place use to be good...if your a regular or friend you can get good service and food ...but if you aren,t...different story read more

There aren't a lot of restaurants in Temple so we've eaten here a few times and this place has decent BBQ. The chopped pork comes smothered in sauce unless you request otherwise, and their BBQ Chicken (which is delicious) is only available Thursday through the weekend. One weekend I called to order it (Saturday afternoon) and they were out. It was a little ridiculous to hear they were out when the item is only available a few days. However, their Brunswick Stew is great and their ribs are quite good. Their steak fries/sweet potato fries are the typical frozen product, but they are served hot. This place has the best biscuits! I come to Temple about once a month and every time I do, I stop and get a hoop cheese biscuit. They also have good sweet tea. I have never had their BBQ but everyone raves about it. read more

Country sides were pretty awful for somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. The okra was still slimy on the inside. Cornbread and coleslaw were a little better, at least it was mayonnaise based. The bbq was sub-par and ran right through me. 2/5 will not be going back. read more

This is a small hometown Bar-b-que place it's well know to all the locals. If you are driving thru Temple on Hwy 78 stop in and get a Ribeye don't let the appearance of the building change your mind, this is one of the best steaks you will ever put in your mouth! (Remember are you going for good food or a fancy place I'll take good food) The dining area is clean and comfortable! Not pricey either! They have a buffet everyday with a salad bar also. Don't forget to order cheese sticks they are the best! If you want Bar-b-que their sauce is thinner than most and more on the vinegar side. Never had bad service here. read more

My all time favorite BBQ their sauce and the tender meat just melts in your mouth , every side dishes is awesome ,lol the whole time I'm eating ,I'm verbal mmm mmm mmm !!! It's so good, I usually don't care for Brunswick stew from any where, but it is a must have along with your meal ! I always have to top it off,with their homemade banana pudding, so yummy! I enjoy the atmosphere so much I'm not in a rush to leave, they make you feel at home and don't make you feel like it's time to leave! My travels don't usually take me through there very often but when they do, I have to stop in ! Oh almost forgot to add it is very wheelchair friendly and tables are easy to pull up to and tables are the perfect height! read more
