Been there twice, this will probably be my last time. We had a party of 15 and were crammed into an area where everyone was uncomfortable. We had to ask to have an additional table added to give everyone sufficient room. We waited almost 45 minutes before we placed our order. A member of our party ordered a salad and had to ask for a fork. Needless to say it also took time to get our drinks as well. After ordering, our food arrived in a decent amount of time and was good. The portions were small for what we got. The only complaint about the food was a sandwich that was ordered included mayo. The sandwich was remade and was right. The cocktail sauce was congealed in the small container that it came in and had a weird smell to it. I do not fault our waitress for the time it took us to place our order. I believe that there was not sufficient staff working this evening. Management should have seen that there was sufficient staff, or at least helped out to make sure dinner service was handled efficiently. As others have said, bring your pocket book. Great restaurant for tradition fish camp food. Great shrimp dishes as well as flounder. They have many choices and combinations. The onion rings are the best I've ever had. There hush puppies are next to none. The tartar sauce is perfect. Wait staff is well trained and efficient. You may have to wait on a table on weekends. If you enjoy old fashioned fish camps, this for you. Here since 1952, I love the knotty pine walls and booths. When your seated you get a free tray of hush puppies and tarter sauce. The hush puppies are addictive. Bite size, you can pop 'em in you mouth one after another like popcorn. I like the tarter sauce, not overly sweet as some are, they use sweet and dill pickle plus some onion giving it a slight bite. The food here is not greasy, because if it was, my wife and I would not eat here. If fried seafood is not your thing, they have a large broiled seafood menu selection as well. I love the salt and pepper catfish, while my wife leans toward the flounder. The menu has everything seafood, plus steaks, chicken and sandwiches. The slaw is good being vinegar based, as I don't like mayo based slaw. All sides we have tried are good. The service is always friendly and attentive even though it can get very crowded especially Friday and Saturday night. My wife and I would rather eat at a place like this than a chain or a fancy smancy place where it cost 2 people over $200 for a meal. Nothing fancy here, just good food and friendly service. Plus 2 people with dinner, drinks, tax and tip can get out for about $25-$30. My kinda place! read more

Worst service I've ever experienced.. Was really looking forward to eating at this restaurant.. Walked in to see it was seat yourself to which we did.. We sat for 15 minutes no one even acknowledged that we were sitting there. Meanwhile several waitresses stood around talking to each other or making small talk with their table.. So I get up and ask someone if someone is waiting on us and she then says yes of course so I sit back down and we wait an additional 10 minutes to which no one still acknowledges is and we at this point hungry and frustrated get up and leave.. Not the way to obtain repeat customers that's for sure I pass this restaurant every time I go to visit my family and I will never be back.. read more

Fish is good. Would have given a five star, but the bench seating is bad and the atmosphere needs work. Service very good.

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a restaurant online but I just had to this time. I had been looking for a good old time fish camp since Friendly Road Inn closed in Greenboro. I found this restaurant online and just had to try it. I have a seafood restaurant 3 miles up the road but it serves the typical seafood everyone else serves. I convinced my husband to drive an hour and half so I could try Jones Fish Camp. I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I was with the food! I seriously almost cried. It brought back so many memories of the fish camp I grew up with. The food is phenomenal! We have been back several times and if I could convince my husband I would go there every Saturday night! My favorite place to get fried seafood. It's been around for generations. The best hush puppies and tarter sauce around. Stuffed clams are a favorite. Recommend the seafood platter for fried choices. They oftentimes have fresh caught other fish (sea bass, flounder, etc.) and shrimp that the owner goes to the coast to catch. The main reason we go is for the all-you-can eat crab legs - best deal around with great butter/garlic-butter for dipping and two sides (get the cole slaw and/or the onion rings). Their tarter sauce is so good and their hushpuppies are great! The fried seafood is pretty good and the salt and pepper style is the way to go. pulled in next to a pretty little pond where the fish camp is situated beside. this little camp can get packed! Our server was quick, friendly and attentive. I got the broiled shrimp with garlic sauce and it was simple, delicious and plenty. the rest of my party ordered the seafood platters and the portions were HUGE. tons of variety and all deep fried in a light batter so that you don't lose the fish. Great decor, I love the fish that are displayed on the walls. The benches that we were seated on were quite uncomfortable. Even me and my husband, who are average in weight, found the benches to be too small to get comfortable in. read more

Been several years since I've been there but NEVER again! I called in an order on 8/7/19 for a seafood platter. The guy I spoke to asked if I wanted the regular platter or the deluxe. I asked what the difference was. He said I'd get 2 extra oysters, 2 extra scallops, and more hush puppies. I thought what the heck and ordered the deluxe. After all, it should only be a couple bucks more. When I went to pick up the order and finally got waited on, the cashier says...GET THIS...your total is $36.33 --- I said "HOW MUCH"??? She repeated it then said, the "deluxe" platter is $33.95 plus tax. Jones fish camp doesn't have an online menu so when I placed the order I failed to ask the total figuring less than $20. WRONG! I went ahead and paid them. When I got to the house I checked the platter to try to figure out just why it was so special. This was what was in the box, 4 scallops, 4 oysters, 2 pieces of flounder filet, about 10 clam strips, maybe a dozen baby shrimp, 1 stuffed crab, 1 stuffed clam, and about 50 hush puppies. not very good. expensive and the food taste like it's frozen prior to frying so nothing fresh, but it could be other places are the same. Went two weeks ago for crab legs. $ 26.95 per person. The wait was very long especially considering they were not that busy. The crabs were sub-par and instead of them being ready each time your finished with a stack you had to wait 20 minutes in between refills which is ridiculous for all you can eat. The Hush puppies and even the tartar sauce were terrible, french fries were even undercooked. We drove 60 miles to enjoy something we rarely get to have due to price and we were very disappointed !! Next time it will be a chinese buffet and order by the pound!!!! I gave it one star because the old style atmosphere was the only thing we enjoyed. read more

We ate here on Saturday August 2nd....it took us an hour and 5 minutes to get our food! My husband could not eat his broiled fish it was so spicy, he told them just to take it off, because we did not want to wait another hour...so they still charged him 6.50 for baked potatoe and small corn on the cob! My daughter ordered a flounder fillet sandwich and it came with a FROZEN fillet. They might get their regulars ordering the senior menu, but will never get my business again. Worst fish camp I have ever been too. 3 out of 3 times I have been sick there. The employees are rude, unless your a regular, and they are completely oblivious to whats on the menu. Also not to mention, their tartar sauce is made in a trash can. You can blatantly see it on their Facebook page. Each time I have been there the service was rude and cold.
