Cool REAL 50's Diner vibe, moved from Pennsylvania about ten years ago? Bright & airy, lots of shiny things ;~) Love the Pesto Omelette here & the Deep Dish apple pie. Housemade Corned beef hash & eggs was chunkier & I liked that but didn't have the caramelization I prefer but tasty & freshly different, properly crispy hashbrowns. Saw some tasty Biscuits & gravy my dad would love. GOOD coffee. Friendly servers. Food & apparent cleanliness has always looked a lot better than their recent 43/100 food sanitation ratings ; hope they Tighten THAT up, calling it A-OK because of that, could be 4/5. I had the special of the day, which was a garden omelette with pesto. It had about as much flavor as you would find at a Perkins restaurant, which in my opinion is very bland. However, our waitress, Gwen, was wonderful and I would say that it made up for what the food lacked. I also had the tomato basil soup, which was watery, but the male waiter behind the bar who brought it out was also a good server. They were very prompt in refilling coffee. We've eaten there a number of times before. Good food, portions and price. Our family was going to eat lunch there yesterday. There was a picture of a political candidate and former office holder in their window. I don't understand why a business would get this political especially in these times. But the food was a major letdown. I ordered a $14 plate and expected a decent portion size, but what I got was laughable. It was like something I'd whip up at home or grab from McDonald's. And the 'gourmet' touch? Sandwich cheese on top of the omelet. My partner's country fried steak was overcooked and burnt to a crisp. Given the wait, you'd think they'd at least try to get the food right. It's especially egregious considering we're talking about Lake Geneva, where people pay for parking and expect a certain level of service. We spent 1.5 hours at the restaurant, and most of that time was wasted waiting for subpar food. Needless to say, we won't be back.
