I totally dig this place and that says a lot for a guy who doesn't have a single hair on his head. So what the hell am I doing here? Well, beards bro, beards. Yeah, I grew out a beard a few years ago and since then I've been struggling to maintain it myself while occasionally visiting a local barber for a quick trim. My experiences with the local shops have been hit and miss, but mostly miss due to language barriers, low quality of work and inconsistent pricing. Jorge's on the other hand was spectacular! I was the only customer in the shop, he approached my facial hair with a steady hand and cleaned me up much, much better than any other local shop has thus far. After approximately 20 minutes and some great conversation about our trips to Mexico, I was ready to pay and extremely pleased with the $9.00 price tag. The owner Sal is a great barber. He has a phenomenal story of his sucess from where he came from to where he is now. Sal has been cutting my hair and my son's(he's 14 1/2 now) hair since 2002. I have brought visiting family members & friends to this shop to get a nice haircut as well. It's a great little place. Sometimes the wait can be long if he has a full house, but it's definitely worth the wait. Sal's son, who the place is named after, works right along side his dad. It's really cool. Got to see Jorge grow up during my visits....from a little kid hanging around the barbershop to now seeing him cutting hair next to his dad is pretty cool. I took my 1 year old here for his first haircut and they were amazing. She gave us a 1st haircut certificate and she was very patient with my son. I made the mistake of taking him somewhere else for his next cut and he screamed and the stylist shoved a sucker in his mouth. I thought we were doomed for bad haircut experiences from here on out, the first one must have been a fluke.. Took my 5 year old son to Jorge's. It wasn't his first time, however he was hesitant with all the tools barbers use. We went on a Saturday at around 10am there were 2 other people ahead of us, not a long wait at all. We waited for about 15 minutes. It's a little shop with 3 cutting chairs and 6 waiting chairs. There is a TV. Definitely that local community feel when going in. When cutting my son's hair, he showed him all the tools to reassure him he won't get hurt. Jorge kept telling him he was doing good and then before you know it he was styling his hair. At the end of his cut Jorge gave him a lollipop for behaving so well. My son loved it and we would recommend him for boys cut any day. read more

Usually love the haircut I get here, the female barber is the best in San Diego. The last 2 times I went here at 2:30 they have closed sign with a we will return at 4:30 sign. I've been here a couple of times now and I'm impressed. I'm not particularly picky about haircuts, and I get a pretty simple cut, but they seem to do it better here than anywhere else I've been. The guy is *very* detailed and makes sure he gets it just right. There's also a woman who works there, but she hasn't cut my hair before. It's 11 bucks for a guys haircut, which is definitely reasonable. One downside to the place: since they are so detailed, they tend to take a while on each person. That's great, but if there are several people waiting when you get there, know that you'll be there a while. read more
