Today I went to buy a shirt at pentagon city mall Jos A bank and the guy showed me there is next level to a Terrible service. There was a black lady and fat white guy. Unfortunately I asked help from him and he acted as he didn't hear me. I loudly asked for help finding my size and forced to help me is, he is super inattentive, what is worst is he said I cant try the shirt but can uses another already opens item to check. Wow The guys has no idea as it customer service and sales. I went to shop another location. This a just the climax of poor service. I would fire him in a heart beat. I recently brought in MW custom suit pants (i will not go to the one in Alexandria again) to have a pocket repaired. I received the "come get it" email a few weeks back. When i checked the store hours today Yelp indicated they were open until 7pm. When i arrived at 6:30 they had their holiday hours posted that they closed at 6. No problem. I was there late, technology is great, but we have all worked retail and this happens. One of the staff happened to be leaving so i asked if i could pickup my pants anyway. After confirming there was nothing to be done but pick them up, they brought them out. They didn't have to, i would not have had any issues with that as they were closed. However they saved me the hassle of having to drive in again. I didn't get anyone's name, bit it was the crew working the evening shift on 12/17/23. My boyfriend and I visited this location yesterday afternoon, as we were eager to get a new suit for him for an upcoming wedding that we are attending later this month. Neither of us have any knowledge about suits and were looking forward to getting some help in this area because we were not confident enough to buy online. When we walked in, a female employee was in the back, working on a fitting, while a male employee was at the cash register checking someone out. When we entered, we got no acknowledgement at all, which was fine at the time, given that both employees were occupied. Even as we continued browsing for the next 45 minutes, not once did anyone come to ask us if we needed any assistance. We passed by both employees multiple times on the main floor as well as in the fitting room, and still, not once were we asked if we were doing OK or if we needed any help - we did, but seeing as we weren't going to get any, I really didn't even feel like asking. We had no knowledge about the layout of the store, where to find what, what size and measurement we needed, etc. Eventually we figured things out with our own devices. At first I thought it was due to the fact that we are a younger couple and were casually dressed -- not that that this should affect the level of customer service we should receive -- but by the end of our visit, I realized that I had seen at least 5 unique visitors enter the store and NONE of them were acknowledged or offered help. Ultimately the 2 stars (instead of 1) are due to the fact that the sales were great and we were able to find a very affordable suit jacket. Ultimately, we did not find what we were looking for though, which was a full suit and/or slack separates for an existing jacket that we brought in to compare against. The female employee rang us up and she was nice and friendly, but the lack of attention and customer service overall for the bulk of our time there was extremely disappointing and frankly, rude. The store also did not have a great selection at all and even the non-sale racks included only a few options to choose from. Aside from the on-sale jacket, the only benefit I got from visiting in person was figuring out what size to order online. Bad experience. read more

It was time for a wardrobe refresh and a new suit. I ordered a suit online from Jos. A. Bank during one of their frequently recurring (or is it continuous) sales. It was delivered promptly. However, this review isn't about their online store. The suit jacket looked and fit fine, but the pants just didn't look good on me. For whatever stylistic reasons, the pants were made with double-pleats and simply look awful on anyone, especially if you're short. Give me a break, I'm Asian! Anyway, I took it into the Jos. A. Bank store in Pentagon City to return my online purchase. Thankfully, they accepted it and processed my return without question. As I looked around the store at other suits, I noted that ALL of their suits came with double-pleated pants. Yikes! I guess I can never buy any suits from them! In the end, I give Jos. A. Bank in Pentagon City 4-stars for customer service, but 2-stars for not having suits with flat-front pants! Final tally...3-stars! read more

By far the worst customer service that my fiancé and I have ever received. The associates at this store act like they don't want to be there and it shows for the three times we have stopped at this location. We brought a tux here and it was pretty obvious the level of detail to attention that's given to the Caucasian vs African Americans customers. While working with an associate on our first visit, we literally had to track him down to give us an item that was in the back room. He kept ignoring us but his detail to attention on four other customers (Caucasian) seemed flawless. All four customers who came in after us were greeted promptly, given service, and checked out. Even after seeing this obvious treatment, we still decided to purchase a tux. Two weeks later, we got a phone call letting us know that the tux was ready for pick up. We wanted to use their alterations so we went online and made an appointment. When we arrived at our appointment date and time, a woman that worked there told us that we had to wait an hour since the alterations person was busy at the time. No apologies... nothing. We told her that we made an appointment a week out and that this was unacceptable. Of course no manager was on duty for us to voice our complaints so we left and came back to get this alterations over with. I would never refer this store even to my worst enemies. No customer should have to walk into a store and feel like a burden. I refuse to come back to this store. In fact my fiancé needed to buy a second tux. Rather than going back to this location, we went out of our way to go to the DC Jos A. Banks location. Received far better service at that location by Yusuf, the store manager. I accompanied my now father-in-law here to buy a suit for our wedding when he forgot his back in Florida. Walking in we were not immediately greeted as I would expect in a suit-store. We kind of hovered around the register until a woman came out of the back and told us the suit fitter was on break and to browse while we waited. He came back in about 10 minutes and was helpful in picking out some off the rack suits for him to try. He is a VERY difficult customer, and I applaud the gentleman who helped us for his patience and assistance. We did walk out with a suit that was ON SALE (??!!) for $200. I was happy they could help us in a pinch, but the pricing seems pretty high. Maybe it's standard but I don't buy suits so I cannot compare. read more

As with most guys I hate buying suits and it's about as fun as a trip to the dentist, maybe worse since they can't put me under to buy suits. Be sure you go here and look at what's on sale since the same basic suit can cost $200 more if it's on sale or not. Also be on the lookout for them trying to sell you suits that are too tight and claiming that's "how they should fit" as one salesman tried to argue with me. I have to wear these things daily so I want it to be comfortable. If you are firm with them and don't let them upsell you too much this place is alright but still not a fun experience. We walked in today with my elderly parents and my husband and were immediately greeted by a nice salesperson (lady) . She measured my dad and helped him figure out his size. The reason we had walked in the store was because my dad was gifted shirts that did not fit him and he was exchanging for better size. Everything went smoothly until this rude salesman (gray suit) approached the cash register. He made assumptious remarks regarding our ability to pay for the new shirts we picked out as they were not the same price as the ones being returned. At first I was confused and asked "what's the deal?" As in what's the problem? "Oh there are no deals happening" He goes on to point out how these shirts are "more expensive". You can exchange from one of those other shelves- - pointing to another table-- OKAY. We did not ask for this at all..My husband and I both asked how much more expensive? He then said "ohhh these guys are here to spend money". No one laughed. Thinking it would be in the hundreds the way he spoke about it. The sales lady then announced that its $7.00 more which is more then ok. We paid and left feeling a bit insulted? Never again will I take my dad out post christmas to this location. The salesmen are pretty helpful and they have all sizes and styles in stock. BUT....the tailoring stinks. Of the six things I've had tailored, only two have come back right the first time. Three pair of slacks, fitted the same day, came back in waist sizes ranging from "huge clown pants" to "marginally tight" to "just right." What am I, Goldilocks? I really don't have time to keep revisiting the store. I'd be a regular customer if you would just give me what I pay for. I don't recommend shopping at this location. read more

The staff are very friendly, and the offerings are what you would expect from this brand, but the tailors are pretty terrible. They don't listen to what you want and when they hand you back something that was obviously done incorrectly they will argue and say "that's just a wrinkle!" Feel free to buy here, but if you want your suit tailored, go to an actual tailor. read more

I've purchased many JAB suits over the course of the last ten years and I have never had any issues. I made a yelp account specifically for this review Unfortunately, I have spent my last dollar at this store as this location is without a doubt the most incompetent group of lazy employees I have ever had the misfortune of interacting with. I was truly astounded at the lack of customer service from these folks. I am however, ecstatic to say that an experience that should take two weeks tops, has finally ended after 4 weeks of a grueling customer service clusterf*ck and I couldn't be happier. There are 1,001 things I would rather do than ever get within 10 feet of this store again and that list starts with my taxes and doing somersaults across a football field covered in glass shards and LEGO bricks. Overall this experience was worse than the holocaust and the trail of tears combined and I would discourage even my worst enemies from even accepting a coupon from this pathetic excuse of an establishment. read more

I came here to buy my first suit and had a very nice experience. The good: the associate I worked with, Curtis, was extremely patient and helpful throughout the entire process. He worked within my budget to find something that was going to make me look good without breaking the bank. The bad: I've been in this store several times and it seems like I need to make myself known to the associates. This wouldn't normally be a problem if they were swamped, but if I come in 15 minutes after you've opened and I'm the only person there at least say "hello." Four out of five stars because of the awesome experience with Curtis when purchasing my first suit, but lack of recognition from the rest of the staff. read more

Only a 1 because it won't let me put zero. First trip in ordered shirts....wrong items sent to me twice. Got to drive 40 min in to store, pay for parking to return shirt. I order a couple "custom" made suits and eagerly go back 6 weeks later only too have pants than are so big I have to hold them up and suit tops made for someone half my size. They reorder and tell me it's another 8 weeks to get the suits redone but they will get me a free 1905 suit for my troubles. Ok sounds good, so I go in on the appointed day and the tailor is not there so I cool my heels for a while, still no tailor. In the meantime I try to use some of my bonus points, for 1500 in purchases, to do an upgrade, but they are not showing up. An hour late the tailor rolls in....I cancelled everything...I need a whole new wardrobe and so do a few close friends....won't be getting it there. Never do business here. Wasted an hour of my time for them to look for my suit because they couldn't find it after having it for a week as they do alterations. When I tried to pick it up at a prescribed date, they made me wait (without saying anything) while looking for it and at one point, asked me to look for it myself on the for for sale rack. While I was looking for it, my sales man (who sold me the suit) had to remind me that I purchased my suit on a discount. While pointing at the expensive suits... he condescendingly commented that the suit I purchased wasn't expensive. Even if I paid $300 for a suit... $300 is ALOT of money to me. Then... I had to show them proof of my bank account of my purchase even though he remembered me and have in my possession the pick up ticket. This is actually my first time trying out JoS... and unfortunately will never come back. I did not feel like a customer. While the manager and the sales guy was researching the system for the record of my purchase (45 mins has passed at this point), the sales guy was laughing at one point showing no respect. At one point, the sales guy had to entertain a friend that walked in instead of either looking for my suit or resolving the situation. I felt like I couldn't afford to buy a suit while in the store. Treated as I wasn't even there and no mistake happened. I wanted to leave but had to wait for them while they figure out how to refund my little bitty money. Never again. We've been to the moon; we've sent human-made and engineered machines that have visited over 70 planets, asteroids, and meteorites in the solar system and beyond--we've yet to figure out the challenging task analogous to rocket science of providing plain black tuxedos at group rates. This is unfortunately too difficult for some people; namely those at the Jos a Bank in Pentagon City. It requires four simple steps: (1) stating you want a group rate for a tuxedo rental; (2) providing names of each person in said party; (3) said individuals arrive at the closet jos a bank location to get fitted; (4) Jos a bank provides the tuxedo to each individual before the event requiring the tuxedos. This did not happen after over a dozen phone calls and hours on the phone. I beg all of you to use someone else for tuxedo rentals. I wouldn't wish the agony and heartache that this location caused on my worst enemy. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. And if you do go here, DO NOT under any circumstances, use their tailor. My husband bought a suit here earlier this year. It was an average suit. Then he got it "fitted." It was a disaster. The pant legs were extremely short-- at least they agreed to correct that. They also ruined the blazer, but wouldn't admit it saying that the slim fit jackets fit that way. While we were at the store, numerous people came in with complaints about their alterations. A few months later, my husband asked me to re-hem the pants as they had already come undone. But it turns out that the tailor had actually cut too much material off the pants and so had to jerry-rig a hem. It is the most amateur job I have ever seen. Much worse than anything I have ever done myself and I am not a tailor. Buyer beware. read more

Both my husband and son love the selection of shirts, slacks, sweaters etc... that Jos A Bank has to offer and I enjoy shopping for them but I must say that the sales that Jos A Bank offers are confusing to say the least and I think they want you to be confused so they get you to buy items that are not included in the sales!!! This issue could easily be remedied by stocking correctly. How difficult is it to stock the various styles together as opposed to comingling all the various styles and also CLEARLY and CONCISELY displaying sale criteria. The staff at this location is AWFUL, they don't even know where the items that are on sale are and they aren't very good at helping you find the sale merchandise either... all they are interested in is ringing you up!! read more

I wish I could give zero stars to this Jos A Banks location in Pentagon City Mall!!! My husband bought 3 suits from this location on October 7. It is now December 19 and he still does not have his suits. OVER TWO MONTHS! On first purchase, the store associate who helped him said that he would call when they came in, which would be in 3-5 days from purchase. (As is typical from my husband's previous purchases from Jos A Banks.) He was never called when they came in (to measure for alterations) so when he called a week later, a woman at the store checked and said they were in. We went over there, and two of the three suits were there, so he was fitted. It was extremely annoying that all three suits were not in but since all three suits were the exact same, the alterations "expert" said that he would match the 3rd suit. Again, no call when suits were ready, so my husband called about a week later and they were said to be ready. We went in and he tried them on. One of the suits had not been altered at all. The jackets did not fit. One of the pair of pants were uneven by about a 2 INCH difference at the bottom. At one point, a store associate tried to convince my husband that the pant legs were even!!! As we sat there, and all looked at these clown pants!! It was comical- I thought it was a joke or a hidden camera show. Sadly, it was not! Nothing fit correctly. The store said they would fix the alterations mistakes. Once again, my husband was not contacted about suits being ready, it was going on 2-3 weeks, so he called and spoke with the Store Manager, Nathaniel, who seems to work very limited hours. Working around Nathaniel's schedule, we went back while the store manager was present and when my husband tried on the "fixed" suits, they were AGAIN incorrect and did not fit well. Pants were off on length again and one of the suit jackets was extremely snug. This is the fourth time we are making the drive over to this location for this process and still NO suits! He was re-fitted again and Nathaniel, the Store Manager, said they would completely re-order the suits and start from scratch and alterations would be free. In the meantime, my husband missed black Friday deals on suits, Christmas deals at other stores, etc. And not to mention, his 3 new suits that he planned to have for the holiday season (and two weddings that we attended) never materialized. Where in the world does it take over two months to get suits?!?!? Custom suits from Italy don't even take that long!!!!! My husband has been a long time Jos A. Banks customer. He has bought tons of suits from other locations without any problem. I've told him to get his money back and we can go to another location, but he's giving it one last try to see if they are ok. He is going back over there today to pick up the new suits in hopes that they are correct. I highly doubt they will be. I couldn't drive over there with him one more time so he's going solo this time. This management team and the sales associates at this location in Pentagon City Mall have zero respect for their customers and have been extremely apathetic to this crazy situation. The only person who even seemed to care was the alterations guy, and he doesn't appear to know how to do alterations based on what I've seen so far from that store. Once my husband gets these suits (if that even happens?), we will NEVER shop at this location again. We may even switch to Men's Wearhouse as my husband has never had any issues with that company in the past either. It's a shame that this has gone on so long and that the store management does not seem to care or follow up on any of this. Suits are not cheap, time is not cheap, and this is completely unacceptable and ridiculous quality and customer service! Jos A Banks should be ashamed of this location! read more

Absolutely the worst suit buying experience I've ever had! Extremely poor customer service, from both the manager and sales assistant. After being greeted (by the store manager) who said "What do you want?" not welcome sir, how are you?, good evening...no...he said "What do you want?" as soon as I walked in. I politely said, "I'm here to buy a new suit". I was then directed to speak with a sale associated as he just stood there. After approaching the sales associate, I soon realized that she was somehow even ruder than he was. After first being ignored, and then withstanding some very rude comments for a few minutes whereby she indicated that I have no clue what I'm talking about (although I don't claim to be an expert, I've previously purchased several suits so I definitely have some clue). I was enticed to eventually leave the store. I've never experienced such rudeness, unprofessionalism, and frankly unwillingness to help me find what I was looking for at a clothier. There were maybe two other customers in the store besides myself, so I sense the rudeness was not due to being overburdened by customers that evening. Many of the suits that I currently own are from Jos A Bank, and I absolutely will not buy there again. A suit a large purchase, and should be treated by helpful and patient sales reps who assist the customer in that purchase. I hope readers realize that there are plenty of clothiers in the DC metro area with much friendlier sales associates and who offer the same suits at similar or lower prices. So, if you plan to make a large purchase like a suit, why not shop where the sales associates want your money, and are willing to help you find what you like in a friendly manner?
