Should have read the reviews This place has been referred to me by my personal dentist for a treatment they could not provide. I immediately stopped going there after my first visit due to the excessive amount of money with hidden fees they charged. I don t recommend that place to anyone I will also warn my personal dentist who is very respectful to stop referring Bandala dental immediately. Respond to Bandala group: Not everyone carries hundreds of dollars in their pockets to pay such big bills, and your office charge an extra 3% for using a credit card, it s call a surprise. Even though I found your service that was done by a trainee by the way very expensive I did not get frustrated, I have been very honest and sent the payment from my HSA account to your office but ...another surprise the payment has been returned without explanation. I checked with my HSA and they confirm that the payment has been refused by your office, I never had any problems before and now you send me a letter treating me to send a collector. read more

Here are just a few of the very concerning violations of the 5 Principles of Ethics Dentist's are required to uphold. Honestly, I am not sure how aware Dr. Bandala is of the issues I have had as Treycee is the "gatekeeper". She is the receptionist and all email correspondence goes to her as well. But a DDS is responsible for his staff and they are required to provide medical care in a timely manner, to treat patients with respect and include them in their health care diagnoses and treatment plans and to treat them equally-despite their insurance. Unprofessional and petty Business Manager, Treycee, delayed my care and refused to make appointments for preauthorized work despite Dr. orders documented in my chart. Told me, I "was not a priority", "difficult from the beginning" and never missed an opportunity to point out they don't normally accept my insurance (Medi-Cal). She treated me differently than other patients and made it clear she did not like me-felt above me for some odd reason which, again, is related to my insurance. While in office, checking out after a procedure I was stunned when Treycee made a snarky comment to my face about how I'm "getting dental work for free!". So inappropriate! My medical diagnosis was never clearly outlined to me and when Dr. Bandala discovered additional problems, I was not contacted. I only discover when I call in to schedule appointment or follow-up on authorization and it's Treycee, the Business Manager, who relays it to me and only in relation to insurance and them getting paid. She said it is standard operating procedures in their office for her to give medical diagnoses over the phone (although admitted it is not standard procedure for most dental offices) and if you want details, your overall oral health and next steps you have to schedule a consultation with Dr. Bandala. She did not offer me an appointment or explain how much my insurance would be billed for the additional consultation. I had procedures done under sedation but was not given pre-treatment instructions or told I needed a chaperone to escort me home afterwards. Hence, while in the office-in the dental chair- I had to frantically contact family members and see if they could uproot their work day to come pick me up once I'm done. I have decided I'd rather have cavities and need a root canal than go back and be treated by Dr. Bandala-even if I could get an appointment made, which I've been attempting to do since mid-January when Dr. Bandala told me to do so. Treycee has blocked the process despite authorization from my insurance. As a Buddhist with a Master's Degree who has dedicated my life to helping others (hence my "poor person's" insurance) I have always been respectful and kind to Dr. Bandala and his staff when in office and on phone. It is very disappointing to have had such unprofessional treatment. I would not want anyone to experience what I have and recommend you avoid his office at all costs. read more

Dr Bandala did porcelain veneers and gum recontouring on a family member. It changed my family member's life! To this day, they look very natural. When they see other dentists out of the area, they compliment them on the great job. He completed this 16 years ago and there have been no problems - just a more confident, attractive, and happy family member!!! I can't thank him enough! read more

I never enjoyed coming into the dentist as much as I enjoy it here! There is almost never a wait, the office is super clean, the entire staff is very friendly and they make you feel right at home. I highly recommend this place. read more

I have always been treated with compassion, respect and professionalism by this dentist and his staff. You have replaced teeth, cleaned teeth, drilled teeth and pretty much had to put up with my whining and complaining. Through an unfortunate event in January I had a gate knock out my front tooth. I ended up so happy with my new front teeth. They are now white and perfect. You patiently listened to me and mentored me all the way. I love you and your staff. Somehow my previous review was removed. So let me repeat it. Please read this entire review so that you do not make a terrible mistake by going to Dr. Jose Bandala.. I went to him for replacement of an old crown on a front tooth. Dr. Bandala suggested that I have the other front tooth that was perfectly healthy replaced with a crown too, He said that was the only way the teeth would match. I followed his advice. When I went in to receive the crowns and have them permanently cemented, the color was Florescent white. My teeth are a natural shade of ivory and the bright white was unnatural. The dental assistant told me when Dr. Bandala was not present that the color of the crowns looked fake. So, I asked if he could tone the color down a bit. He agreed and I went in the following week for placement. When I got home, over the next few days , I noticed the color was a little gray. But nobody said anything about it so I thought that it was just me. Over time I started brushing my teeth more frequently and harder. I tried whitening toothpaste. Several months later the tooth root broke on the front tooth that had the original crown placed. I returned to Dr. Bandala. He informed me that I needed an implant and that I needed to place a new crown on the opposite front tooth and one on the healthy tooth to the other side of the needed implant. He said that the implant may change the gum line so it had to be done. I had spent over $2000. only a year before for the crowns on the 2 front teeth and I could not afford to have an implant and 3 new crowns done. So, I agree to the implant and the tooth to the side to be crowned because Dr. Bandala insisted that it had to be done. When I went to receive the crowns for placement, again the color was Florescent white. They did not look good. Even members of his staff told me they " glowed". I asked if he could tone down the color, He agreed and I returned the next week for placement. This time, the color was still off, neither crown matched my other teeth, nor did they match the existing crown on the front tooth that he had placed less than a year earlier. I asked if he could redo the color again because I wasn't happy with the results. He refused, His dental assistant told me in private that at least the revised color didn't glow and was less likely to be noticed. I felt pressured. I had spent 4 months with temporary crowns on front teeth while allowing the implant site to heal. The temporary crowns were awkward and thick and The thickness caused me to talks with a lisp. I do not normally have a lisp. It was embarrassing and I was so tired of feeling self conscious. I did not feel that I had any choice but to accept the crowns, Dr. Bandala quickly cemented them in place and had a member of the staff shove a form in front of my face for my signature, I signed it because I felt pressured to do so. It was an agreement that I would not take him to court in case of a dispute. When I got home and really looked at the crowns, the implant crown had a slightly green cast. This caused the opposite front crown to appear slightly gray. Dr. Bandala had tried to tone the brightness down apparently by having blue and grey added to the color. His experiment with color failed. The side crown was even a different shade. I was horrified and returned to him just a couple days later. I told him that I was extremely unhappy with the color and asked him to redo the work. He refused unless I paid full price. I had just spent about $7000. out of pocket for the new work. I could not afford to pay all over again. He refused to admit his mistake. He got his money from me paid up front, plus thousands more from my insurance company on top of that, Dr. Bandala made a fortune. Keep in mind that I had gone to him initially to have one older crown replaced and ended up having 3 perfectly healthy teeth removed at his insistence. 3 freaking crowns in the front of my mouth and all 3 a freaking different color. My life has been changed drastically. I am now so embarrassed of my teeth. I can't afford to have the work corrected. My Insurance will not cover any portion of having it redone it because it would be strictly cosmetic. I am ashamed to smile and it's now been several years and I still can not afford to have it redone. Dr. Bandala is incompetent with color match for a simple crown. Don't make a mistake. Stay far AWAY from this dentist! He not only is a horrible dentist but he is fraudulent in his billing practices. I have been dealing with him and his office for over 6 months to get one fractured tooth fixed!!! My experience: At the time of my first visit I paid cash for full root canal and crown. He didn't get all the nerves so my tooth still hurt terribly and he had me come back, removed the crown, put on a temp, and said he would take care of the revision costs because he guarantees his work. I said great and waited for my new crown to be made. 4 weeks later no one from his office called, when I called to check where the heck my new crown was the biller told me I owed an additional $2,000 for new crown, revision root canal, and now a post and core. I expressed I already paid and discussed my conversation with Dr. Bandala and how his warranty covered this second procedure. She proceeded to escalate her tone, tell me I was wrong, and I owed money. After fighting with her and finally speaking with the doctor he said I was right and I only owed only for the post and core because the root needed more structure than the first time. I said ok (against my better judgment to go back to this office) I got my tooth redone and new crown. No more pain, I was happy again. Then I get a statement from my insurance that he billed them for over $800, but I've already paid cash in full and Paid cash for post and core!!Once again, called the office infuriated and biller proceeded to tell me they not only billed insurance but I had a balance of $340! This is CRAZY and is more stress than I need over a crown. I told Susanne the biller this is fraud and I would not pay the balance and I would not let Bandala charge my insurance because I already paid! She called back said they'd "take care of my balance" I said good bc I wasn't going to pay but that the insurance was already billed and they couldn't reverse the charges. I'm not letting him get away with this and will be reporting him to the BBB, my insurance, and any other patient protection agency I can find. My yelp review is the first thing I can do to make patients aware this dentist and his office are the worst and to steer clear!!! Avoid being screwed with and go to an office that has a legit dentist and a staff that has their head above water. Plus, all of his equipment is from the 1970's and extremely antiquated. I grew up in the East Bay Area and had dentists in Pinole, El Cerrito and Oakland, but I can confidently say Dr. Bandala is probably the best most well-rounded dentist I have ever had. I have been to his office about 4 times already and I can truly say he is genuine and cares about his patients. I had my top 2 wisdom teeth removed, as well as a filling. I went in later in the week because I felt pain on one of the surgical sides, and he did not hesitate to see me during my lunch on same day notice. I advise everyone to not ever come here! I had a horrible experience here, sadly the dentist DDS Bandala was actually really kind and helpful. But his billing staff and receptionist were HORRIBLE, I hate to write negative reviews. But the fact is I wouldn't want anyone to go through the same experience as I did. My first visit was actually quite nice and I wasn't so nervous after sitting down and talking to my dentist. But my second visit everything went downhill. I was getting charged with all these hidden fees and worse of all after one of my procedures. I wasn't aware or told there was going to be an outstanding balance in which my insurance did not cover.!! I came out ready to go home and rest but was stopped on the way out; Saying I had to pay $120 dollars; I was so tired and felt really drowsy from the anesthesia. At the time, I was in no position to confront the hidden fees. So I just paid the amount I was told, and the next day I received another call stating I still owed money this time $250 dollars. I was so angry, let me just say I have Delta Premier PPO benefits and I have the 80/20 plan. Sadly this should have never happened. read more

Dr. Bandala was very nice. His office manager Amanda is incompetent. Everyone who works with TMJ cases (as their office does) knows that it is often characterized as a medical condition, meaning that it needs to be covered by medical NOT dental insurance. Even though it is her job to do billing/insurance claims, she could not and has not been able to submit the bill to my medical insurance properly (instead submitting it as a dental charge) and thus, my insurance company keeps denying it as I don't have dental coverage through them. After two rounds with her and a YEAR and a half later, I received a bill today for the full amount of the service. According to my insurance company, she still didn't submit it properly despite them sending her detailed instructions. Completely ridiculous. Do not go there unless you are paying out of pocket. It's not worth the billing mess. read more

I have only recently left Bandala Dental, but this is due to me moving from the Roseville area. I was with Bandala Dental from 2011 - 2017. Dr. Bandala is very nice. He's very diligent with his care. He doesn't pressure to have expensive work to be done right away; it's only when it makes sense to get it done that he recommends it, and when he does the work, he does it well. I have had root canals, crowns, and fillings done by him. Most of my other interaction with the office was with Nga and Terry. Both are very good and professional. Unlike the other reviewers, I found Amanda to be fine. The worst I can say about Amanda is that a few times I had to play phone tag with her--she had said she'd call me back, but didn't. No big deal in my book. If I ever move back to the Roseville area, I would go back to Bandala Dental without a second thought. read more

Went to Dr Bandala office with a tooth that was bothering me . The office staff was very pleasant and got me in the same day . The Dr and assistant took care of me pain free . Dr. Bandala is amazing! Walking into his office and meeting his lovely staff terry the front office is so pleasant and so sweet offering me water and coffee and assuring me I will be well taken can off taken back by Kathy such an open and sweet person walking me through the office (which I have never experienced) and then meeting Dr. Bandala so open sharing his experiences. Explained right in the beginning that he will be saying lots of things that may be overwhelming but it's for him and he will go over the details later. Checking my tongue, neck to the left and right going through one tooth at a time I was so amazed at how detailed he was no dentist has ever done that for me. After the exam he explained everything by taking pictures in my mouth with this camera so I can understand better. He explained everything in detail with examples that I could understand. After he left feeling a bit crazy his assistant Kenny and Kathy explained that yes it's a bit over whelming but we are an all inclusive office Dr. Bandala has his own lab in the back where he teaches us how to make models and appliance as well as in house crowns they further went on to explain each and every detail about my treatment plan, addressing every question I had and after all my questions were answered terry came in with the treatment plan and cost breaking it down as easy as can be the difference between my insurance and my portion, and on top of that giving me more options to make the ideal treatment affordable for me with the portion I had to pay. I am so happy with Dr. Bandala and his staff an all inclusive office where I don't have to be referred out with the best treatment for my smile I am so happy and with such a caring and loving staff backing him up I have no hesitation with him.
