Tailor is absolutely awful. I asked to have the button on a pair of brown pants fixed. She used black thread to reinforce the opposite side of the pants (that wasn't broken) despite the button I requested to be fixed literally falling off when I had them returned to me after a week. I had to go to another tailor to have the black thread removed and the button actually fixed, costing me more money. I also asked to have a white vintage slip repaired and to be gentle since it was older. She dragged it on the dirty front counter and when I politely asked her to be gentle with it she yelled that she didn't wash her hands so they were dirty and the slip was going to get dirty. There are so many other tailors in the area, take your clothes elsewhere if you care about them. read more

OVERPRICED. RUDE. SLOW/LATE. The women working here are fantastic and friendly. If you see the guys working the counter, keep walking. They are rude and not helpful. I had a simple alteration done (the alteration lady was nice), but took a week to get back and when I went to pick them up over a week later, they were still not done. A simple call or act of kindness would be nice. Customer service is not the 2 guys who work there's strong suit. If in a bind, I would recommend them, but they are overpriced and not quick for what you pay. read more

I am beyond thrilled! They really are miracle workers here!! I brought them my mother's wedding gown from 1964, stained and discolored and just assumed it was way beyond saving and honestly I expected to be turned away. Not the case! With the intricate beading and lace, I'll admit I was petrified to leave it in their hands, but the owner reassured me with such absolute confidence that he would take care of it that I decided to put my trust in them. Even so, I was completely shocked when I picked it up to see how stunningly beautiful the gown was ... truly restored beyond what I ever could have hoped for with zero damage!!! I really like this place - the staff is very friendly and my laundry comes back perfectly folded and smelling fresh. They are also wizards at getting even the toughest stains out. However, this all takes days. I dropped my laundry off for wash and fold this week (around 9:00am on Tuesday) and it was not ready until Thursday evening. I don't think that's reasonable, so I will often go to a different place where I can get it same day. Not sure what their system is. read more

These people are absolute miracle workers! We have been cleaning out our closets recently, and we had a number of articles with bad stains that had been set in for years. The stains ran the gamut from sweat to wine to who knows what, and they had all been through intense treatment either by us at home or by other dry cleaners. We took all of them in to Joseph Cleaners as a last resort, with the expectation that they'd return still damaged and we'd need to get rid of them. Four days later, every single item is pristine. I wish that I had taken before photos, because after photos alone of crisp, new looking clothes obviously wouldn't do justice to the work. I'll need to update my review the next time i get a bad stain removed to show what they're able to do but, for now, just trust me that this is the place to go to revive your clothes in need of care. read more

I've been a resident of this neighborhood for 18 months and tried a few other cleaners before switching to Joseph. I wish I had found this place sooner. The overall quality at Joseph is very high. They are very timely with their work and I'm very happy with the cleanliness of my clothes (including a few tough stain removals!). I live in New Jersey work in New York I use my local cleaners and when I show them certain stains, many times they tell me upon pick up that they could not get them out. I than take the garment to Joseph Cleaners which is near my work and they have always gotten the stains out. Wish they were in New Jersey But not easy to take laundry bag on public transportation. I will start off by saying they do a good job tailoring clothes however, they are no different from the other hundred cleaners on the UES. However, they are a bit pricey. I was told to hem a skirt would be $35 and was able to negotiate to $30 however, I decided against it and went to blocks over and was told $15. Needless to say, the cheaper spot did a great job. If you don't mind paying extra for the same thing another cleaners can do for much cheaper then go for it! Also, the owner of the cleaners is the furthest from welcoming and friendly. read more

The price in the store was much higher than what was quoted over the phone and was much higher than what I have seen in the neighborhood. Larry (at Joseph's cleaning) is amazing! This is the cleaners I go to for any piece of clothing I really care about. If it were 3 blocks closer, I'd go to Joseph's for everything. Larry is a miracle worker. I recently brought in an expensive silk skirt that had discolorated stains throughout. Larry made no promises but said he'd do his best. His best, as always, was outstanding. I got the skirt back three days later with no visible​ signs of anything being wrong. Amazing! Larry saved a skirt I was about to toss. I have brought my dress shirts to many cleaners and they all end up with either collars that are curled under or flipped up, or there are pressed wrinkles in the shirts. I feel it completely necessary to right a review on my experience with Joseph Cleaners. Unfortunately my friend's pet had an accident on my brand new sofa; being new to the area I brought it to the first dry cleaner's I saw (not Joseph's)- I got the couch cushion back, still completely stained and was told there was nothing else they could do. I read review's on Joseph's Cleaners and how they work magic with taking stains out and decided to go there. BEST DECISION. Larry was so helpful; he offered to call the manufacturer to see what material the couch was to best treat the fabric and even called me when the cushion was ready. He completely got the stain out, the cushion looks as new as the first day I got it! Doris was phenomenal and an absolute lifesaver. I had previously had my wedding dress tailored and picked up two weeks prior to my wedding. Little did I know that I would lose another 5 pounds in the next two weeks and would have to get it re-tailored! My tailor was away so I was really in a bind, and Doris came to my rescue. My wife sent a blouse for dry cleaning with a small stain (maybe 2 mm?). After 4-5 days there was even a larger stain and all the buttons (that were bright gold) were rusty and opaque and there was a stain around every button. They offered us to remove the buttons and clean it again. When we came back the buttons were sawed back in a very "primitive" and "coarse" way (done very quickly -- without interest) and of course, there were additional stains. The guy in the front desk was rude and defensive (and never got a formal apology "it's the brand's fault that they produce bad quality buttons", really that's the way to reply?). I give them 2 stars because the attempted to call the blouse store to get the buttons again (without success) and gave us back the money we paid for the blouse. I wouldn't bring ANY of my clothes for cleaning here again and wouldn't recommend you to do it. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for this place for awhile. I've only ever used them for alterations, but the woman who does it (her name is slipping my mind at the moment) is so wonderful! I had a bridesmaid dress that came it HUGE and way to long. She completely transformed it (in a reasonable time, I think it was done in a week and I wasn't in a rush so I imagine they would accommodate if there was urgency) and it looks a million times better. I found the price to be reasonable (between $80 to $100 for MAJOR alterations). Will be using her again to fix some dresses that have major tears in the seams! Also, I appreciate how early they're open on a weekday so you can easily pick up or drop off. read more
