Sat at the bar for 12 minutes watching the bartender polish glasses and chat with two of the four people at the bar. Finally gave up. Hostess never said a word to the bartender, or to us as we left. Service was fabulous the last 2 times I have eaten at Josephines. Even though the restaurant was quite busy the food came quickly and was delicious. I love the bread they serve and both the veal dish and pizza were delicious. The singer was very entertaining and a beautiful little girl (about 10) had drawn a picture of the singer. It's not what it used to be. It's a shame theirs so much potential but they are getting sloppy. The chairs looked as they haven't been clean in ages. The wine tasted as it had been opened 5 days ago! The food though so delicious so why aren't they keeping up with the restaurant appearance... I hope the owner (who's a lovely lady) reads this and can pull it together again. The best --Papyrus font use has been more limited since my last review. The pastry and desert options always look great, and the breakfast options are fantastic. I really like their outdoor deck. The good --Breakfast and lunch options are reasonably priced, and taste aight. The bad --Place always seems like it's closing whenever I come in, as there are so few people, so little life, and such quiet (often bad) music. Ordered the chicken parm with angel hair and an order of manicotti. The chicken was overdone, I asked for extra cheese, did not get it. The angel hair pasta was actually hard. The manicotti was below average and the bread was cold and hard. Not impressed. read more

A group of 8 of us had dinner here last night. We all had the 2 for $30 specials. All the entrees were served with soup or salad and phenomenal focaccia bread. The food was excellent, however all of them were over-salted. The quality of the food was exceptional on its own without the need for so much salt. Perhaps the owner will see this review and take heed. Our server was fantastic, but the A.C. was out and it was very hot. I would definitely try it again because it's obvious they care about quality and ambiance. Hopefully next time the salt problem will be eliminated. read more

The pastry case is the first thing you see when walking into this beautifully renovated space! This establishment is a great improvement to the plaza and I finally have a go-to restaurant with friends and family. Good place for lighter options during the day. Breakfast and lunch are delicious! Pizza and a few tapas are a must for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of craft beers on tap as well as the wine selection. I will definitely be going back! read more

Went for the first time for lunch with a girlfriend from out of town and her daughter. I am so glad I suggested the place . All three of us loved it. We split two appetizers between us followed by the veggie pizza, also split. Everything was fantastic, especially the pizza. This was a healthy and very tasty option. Dessert was good as well. When my friend comes back to town in October, I will definitely treat her and myself to Josephine's Cafe again. Since they serve breakfast as well, I will take my husband there real soon. Can't wait. Stopped for a quick lunch on a Saturday. Not busy, only a few customers. My friend got a BLT and I ordered a burger, medium. The burger was well done, and the waiter took it back and I mentioned that I prefer it either med-rare or medium. He brought another that was med-well. He noticed it himself and apologized again. I ate it, but it was dry and burnt on the outside. Would have been nice if they would have taken it off the bill, but no offer to do so. Won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Just had brunch here for Easter and it was excellent! Tons of really fresh, obviously home made food, and 99% perfect! Pretty seating area with and upstairs and even al fresco dining by a cute bridge and water fountain. Beware, mimosas were quite expensive! What a delightful surprise this place! Tucked in the corner on Sewall's Place, it is just amazing. We have been here twice for lunch and every entree has been top-notch. Service is excellent, food is fresh and inventive, and the prices are very reasonable. So far we have had their mushroom ravioli, their salmon, their strawberry spinach salad, their chicken bacon ranch wrap, and everything has been wonderful. Food is delicious. Have eaten there many times and the food and service is always excellent! I particularly love the Josephine Salad.

The food was fine but the service was painfully slow. If you don't have a couple of hours for a sandwich then this is not your place.
