horrible customer service. On star dispatched him to jump start my car's battery that's been having problems for a while. I had to leave for work, so i had my building's valet service take care of the whole operation (yes i know how it privileged it sounds, just bear with me). At around 9:31am Jose calls me looking for the place and I direct him via phone on where to go. I don't hear anything until 7:30 pm, so I finally call him to ask what's up. He tells me that the car wasn't able to start after jumping it. I asked him why he didn't let me know earlier in the day so I could have coordinated it with the dealership and get my car fixed. He told me I wasn't there and he's "nobody's secretary". I told him that I was at work and he could have at least given me an update on the situation. He then hung up on me. I'm beyond livid. Never buy a Cadillac, and never use this asshole's service. He refused to pick up my next call, so I left him a message telling him that I would be writing here. read more

I had my vehicle towed by Jose's Towing from enclosed private property. The video footage shows one of the tow trucks workers following an employee into the building as the garage door was closing, preventing the door from closing. Provided no permits for the tow when an employee of the building questioned them as they were leaving. They were so fast that no one noticed until the very end and by the time I was notified I ran down and they drove away pretty after tresspassing onto private property without my consent for a tow and did not leave any documents on how I can get my car back. I have been trying to contact the company asking where my vehicle is and they tell me they cannot disclose that information, this is completely illegal. I was not aware a spiteful ex girlfriend can get a tow company to agree to tresspass into private property and tow a vehicle without the consent of the tenant from the property. They lied to the building manager saying they changed a tire earlier and needed to check on the car, later comes back and admits to lying to the building manager. Now I am stuck trying to get my car back talking to their rude operators who hang up and do not let you finish a sentence. One of the guys said if you have the proper paperwork then show up to our location and we will give you the car, then when i show up... there is literally no entrance unless you call them to let you in so then when I called they told me to go away. My car got towed, that's fine. It was my fault. However, I call in, and this woman responds saying "Honey you hafta come in to pick ya car up" She hangs up. Leaving no address, no further information. Not even informing me that I needed to call "40 minutes in advanced" so they can get my car ready. I pull up to the lot at 7:30 and I call them, they said they'll see what they can do, and asked me "didn't someone tell you to call 40 minutes in advanced?" Like NO. No one fucking told me. This place is sloppy, don't even use any of their services, I'm sure they'll be JUST as rude. Either way, whether you need your car moved to a junk yard or whatever it is. Don't go to this place forsure. It's currently 8:38pm, they said the price to get my car out the lot would increase if I didn't pick it up within 24 hours, I'm speculating they want to have me wait till the next day so they can profit. What an unprofessional towing place. I know I am at fault for being towed, but you would think a business would AT LEAST be efficient with all services. Pathetic place. Not sure if this is a Jose's Towing company-wide thing or it's just individual driver, but I was very unhappy with what happened. The driver insisted to keep my car himself instead of towing it to the junk yard as I requested. I was waiting for my towing company to come (called by my insurance agent) when this Driver, Manuel Mendoza saw me and stopped. He offered to tow my car for $85 to my place, where is 5 mins away from where the accident happened. On the way he heard me talking to my insurance agent and discussing towing the car to the junker, so he offered to tow the car to the junk yard for me at $150. When I gave him the check for the $150 towing fee, I only wrote down the amount and let him fill it out--he put down his name rather than the company name. I was a bit skeptical, and what happened next shocked me more. Since it was late at night and no junk yards were open, he offered to tow my car to a place that he know without charging overnight fees, and tow my car to the junk yard next day morning. Then he intended to leave without leaving me a contact number. I asked for his phone number. Second day morning I called him but nobody answered, so I called Jose's Towing's office phone. Soon he returned my call and QUESTIONED ME ABOUT WHAT I TOLD THE TOWING COMPANY. Yeah, he actually blamed me for calling the office. Then I asked him to tow the car to the junk yard. He started asking me to transfer the car under his name. I kept saying that I want this car to be totaled but he kept saying he wants to take care of my headache and it will be much easier transferring the car to him. The conversation didn't go anywhere and I had no time to waste so at the end I agreed to transfer the car under his name. Later he called me again and asked me to cancel the previous check and write a new one for him since he lost the first one. I was busy at work couldn't contact the bank right away and I was leaving for my vacation, so I told him to wait until I come back. Two days after that I saw him depositing that check. I got a flat tire and my insurance said that Jose's towing was on their way. So I decided to give them a call and let them know where I was at so they wouldn't get lost. When I spoke to the dispatch. They told me they couldn't do the job and canceled on me because they wanted me to go through my insurance. WHICH I DID. Overall the dispatch was rude and I wouldn't trust this place. read more

I will admit to being mildly annoying after my car was towed post-crash. One moment we were on our way to school and a few minutes later I suddenly had a lot of things to deal with. Someone called for a tow and a nice dude from Jose's asked me a few questions and gave me a card with the number to call to find my car after I sorted things out. And I called, a lot. Because, after all, it was now a really crappy day, we were now without our family car, and I sort of didn't know what I was doing. The dispatch person was very nice and didn't seem fazed at when I would call back to verify information she'd already given me. (I had really horrible handwriting that day). Honestly, my day sucked and the gentle and friendly manner of the people at Jose's Towing helped it suck a little less. Would have liked the salvage yard to be a little more conveniently located but seriously, it wasn't hard to get to and in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't the biggest deal in the world. Horrible business. I scheduled a pick up for the next day early, at 8am. When the driver got here I asked for some paper, or proof that he was taking my car, as I wouldn't be going with him in the truck. He got mad and left, leaving me missing my car maintenance appointment, as I had to urgently find another tow. I called the company on the phone to get another driver, but the driver himself picked up the phone, so I'm guessing this is a one person company, and the driver is Jose. I just met Jose tonight under less than ideal circumstances. i won't go into much more detail other than to say that Jose made our night. Jose was the nicest tow truck driver we've ever met. Now some people might say that that doesn't mean too much, given the reputation of most tow truck drivers. Jose raised the bar tonight as I'm sure he does every day. This tow service was completely unprofessional. My friends car was towed and when we arrived the parking lot was flooded from all of the rain in San Francisco. the tow driver refused to transport the car safely out of the lot and simply said "stick to the right and you'll be fine". My friend ended up sustaining damages to their vehicle on the way out because of the path being obscured by water. The company refused to accept accountability, swore at us, and told us to call the cops if we had a problem. DO NOT use this towing service. Not trustworthy, shady business practices. My parents' car broke down in downtown SF and needed their car towed to an auto shop in Daly City. Google maps, as well as the AAA phone representative stated that the total distance is 7.7 miles. We were aware that towing over 5 miles means that we'll have to pay out of pocket, but when the driver arrived he insisted that the towing would be over 9 miles. On top of that, his attitude was flat out unacceptable, refusing to listen to anything we had to say. We tried to politely explain to him that the AAA rep, as well as google maps, stated that the total distance from our location to the destination was well under 8 miles. However, they were charged for 9, at a premium of $15/mile. At the destination, the driver unloaded the car so poorly that we had to call AAA a second time to get the car re-positioned. Half of the car was in the street, and we could have easily gotten multiple citations for it had we not called for a second tow truck. On top of everything, the driver INSISTED that we paid cash, and even told us that there is a $5 charge for using credit cards. $5. Now, I'm not an experienced merchant by any means, but that is simply unacceptable. My advice, avoid Jose's Towing by any means possible if you don't want to get ripped off by someone who is actively scheming of ways to take advantage of you while you're in need of towing service. I've filed a complaint with AAA regarding this issue in hopes that they crack down on low-quality contracted companies. read more

Illegally towed my car after I stopped in a parking lot to use the restroom. They have a guy sitting in the lot with a tow truck around the corner just waiting for anyone to leave a car. Blocked my phone number and were rude when I arrived, one of the staff members called me an idiot for leaving my car in a lot and not in the middle of the road to use the restroom. Proceeded to charge me $350 to get my car, but threatened to charge me double for "overnight fees" just because I said I would be taking them to court. If you look up the previous owner you can find in the public records that his license was taken for illegal towing practices. Now he owns this business under his niece's name and has been causing her trouble ever since. I feel so bad for anyone associated with this man. Go somewhere else for towing, trust me. You don't want to be dealing with these guys years later like I am. read more

Terrible service. When the driver arrived he parked at a different entrance to the location where my vehicle was broken down. He didn't want to pick it up there and wanted the car brought to him. When I told him I couldn't move the car he was frustrated and talked so fast I couldn't understand him. Then, he wouldn't honor AAA's first 5 miles for free service. Instead, he gave a flat rate of $189 and wouldn't explain the breakdown of costs except saying it was $15 per extra mile. When I told him that the overage was 4.5 miles and this should be $67.50, he simply drove away without saying anything and parked half a block up the street. I went up to talk to him and he mumbled something before rolling up his window. A few minutes later he walked over to me and repeated the $189 figure. He said I'd have to call AAA to dispute this. Then without saying anything he quickly walked back to his truck and drove off. He was super rude and uncommunicative. This is no way to treat customers. I had to get a tow from South San Francisco, CA to San Jose, CA on the morning of Labor Day. I was quoted by AAA an arrival time of 3:05AM, but the truck ended up coming around 5:45AM. However, I was not in a bad mood about this, because AAA and Jose's Towing were so passionate and caring about making sure I was okay on the side of the freeway. It was a super busy holiday weekend, so it was understandable that they were flooded with other people with urgent towing requests. When Jose's Towing came to tow my car, they were super nice and greeted me with a friendly face. Keep in mind that this was at 5:45AM, so it was nice to see that I wasn't greeted by a sleepy and cranky truck driver who could have been a headache to deal with. These guys were the total opposite and made the whole process super friendly! They even towed me from the auto body shop to my friend's house in San Jose, which they didn't charge me for. My car decided to shut down and throw error icons at me in a high-traffic one-way shoulder-less road, late on a busy Saturday night. I called AAA and they contacted Jose's towing. Jose himself came to pick me up. He was the epitome of composure and reassurance after finding me frantic from being stranded, honked at, and yelled at for an hour in my broke-down car. After assessing that his wheel-lift tow truck could do the job, he confirmed with me and we were off. It sounded like his crew was pretty busy with all the radio chatter, so I'm grateful they were handling the stress for those of us in trouble out there. Everyone made it in one piece! read more

My wife was in a car accident and Jose Towing came on site to take her car. In a very stressful situation the driver of the tow truck, Carlos, was calm and helpful. He kept reminding her that she was okay and cars can be easily replaced. In addition, he mitigated the onlookers from bothering her while she called the insurance company. He never tried to rush her. He even towed the car to our apartment in downtown SF so that we could take out all our personal belongings before he took the car to the lot. Not having to carry everything home or get a cab was a huge nicety and really helped. The car was taken to their lot as we agreed. When I called the next day to make sure that they could release the car to our insurance company, the receptionist was very helpful. She quickly pulled up the info on the car and reassured me that there wouldn't be any problems with the INS company taking the car. It may seem odd to give a tow company a high rating. Living in SF has me predisposition to detest them and meter maids. But in this instance the service was quick and easy but more importantly - the people were kind and friendly. read more

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! Their permit has been revoked and they are not supposed to be conducting business anymore. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM IF THEY TRY TO "help" you. They will overcharge you. I was in a terrible car accident and they preyed on me and cancelled my triple aaa call somehow because they claimed to be with triple aaa. Come to find out they are NOT a contracted with triple aaA, left me with an incredibly expensive tow fee for having gone a few blocks and took me to a shop that charged hundred a dollar a day for storage. All this happened while I was in an ambulance being checked. They are scam artists. I am filing a police report and anyone else who experiences this with them should as well. Disgusting. read more

Jose's Towing really helped me out. We went out to see the fireworks show in Foster City and when we got back to my car, it wouldn't start up, and to make a long story short, I ended up having to call my roadside assistance around 12:30 AM. They hooked me up with Jose's Towing and they were able to get down from SF and help me tow my car to my mechanic in the dead of the night. I hear 4th of July is a really busy evening for car troubles. The roadside assistance text message said the truck would take an hour to reach us, but he came in 35-40 minutes, so not bad, especially if the truck's coming down from SF on a holiday. The driver was friendly and everything was professionally done. We dropped my car off at my mechanic's, and he was on his way to his next tow. Thanks again for the service! read more

All I gotta say is they are lifesavers. Battery died halfway back to the south bay, but i made it to a gas station. The driver was also in the parking lot finishing up another call. He jumped my battery and waited to see if the charge held. It did not hold the charge, so he towed me to my mechanic's lot for the best tow rate I ever had in the bay area. I was referred to them by AAA. After being told it would only be 15 minutes I left my office to meet them at my car. After the first 15 minutes I called again and told it would be another 10 minutes... Ok SF traffic etc..., I understand. After the next call I was told it would be another 10-15 minutes and I told the person on the line that I had been waiting a while and I was very unhappy. I was told that "it sounds like you don't want our service and I will be canceling the call". And even though I told her that I didn't want them to cancel she said she was cancelling the call and hung up on me. Ray was sent to help me tow my car out of the Auto Return impound lot after SFMTA towed my car there. Auto Return is shady AF but Ray from Jose's was so great! Pleasant, professional, and went beyond the call of duty to help me move my car into the garage even though the battery had died. Perhaps other people with negative reviews had different tow operators. I received a flat fee for $95 which felt steep, but a lot of other companies like AAA won't tow a vehicle from the Auto Return lot. 5 stars for Ray, 3 stars for the price. read more
