Worst company ever. We called because our car was broken down, asked for gas and a jump to see if that would help? I assumed we could also have a tow if those didn't resolve the issue. They only brought gas, no funnel, poured it all over me and left. Said "they had other calls." But didn't even complete this call??? Furthermore when I then tried to call a different tow truck to get towed via BMW roadside assist, they picked my case back up and then cancelled an hour later. I ultimately waited until 12am to get a tow by a different company after this company wasted many many hours of my time. Garbage company AVOID at all costs. read more

Angel came to save me when my Dodge 1979 Street Van stopped giving gas to the carburetor and was stuck on the side of the north 880 onramp merging lane. Angel came very quickly after I called AAA for a urgent service request. When Angel arrived he was fast to load the van safely and transported it back to San Francisco. Angel was very precise and careful when unloading the van at the repair shop. I definitely felt much better about the situation and felt reassured by his professionalism. I'm glad to have had help that day and always think about this service I received from Angel. If I had to ever get towed again, I would hope it would be Angel. read more

I just wanted to leave a glowing review for the towing service that was provided to us today. We were driving down the street and our car started having issues. We had to pull aside but we were unable to start the car afterwards. Nothing worked, the car wouldn't turn on, we couldn't use the windows, we were really concerned. After calling our insurance for roadside service, every provider they assigned us would take at least an hour to arrive and we couldn't wait. We were assigned Angel from S&F Towing and it took only about 25 minutes for him to arrive, assess our problem, and then head out to the drop off location. We were incredibly happy with the service that Angel provided us. He was professional, patient, kind, and informative. Ending costs were reasonable and arrival time was quick, we couldn't have asked for better service from Angel and his team. Next time we have a vehicle issue, Angel can expect our call. OMG they were horrific! 1) Showed up 40 minutes later than when they said. 2) Had the wrong car to tow in their computer so he over-shot us once he showed up. 3) No apologies. Driver gave no Fs. 4) Although we double checked the address with the driver, he over-shot the destination and then DROVE the wrecked car into the parking space, barely missing running into a mailbox and refused to straighten the car up. read more

It was not rush hour. They quoted 50 minutes but took two hours. They are in Alameda and apparently quote a 90 minute minimum to most people but quoted me 50 minutes. Then they arrived and refuse to tow my car unless I pay for the tow. I had AAA premium membership. My registration was current. Somebody stole my stickers on tag. No other AAA drivers ever cared before. He rudely drove away without saying anything. Scam artists. They have an average rating of 1 star under the name S&F towing in Alameda but somehow managed to start fresh on ratings by listing name as S&f Towing! How come they respond to tow requests so far away that they take 90 minutes? They are nowhere near Berkeley. They do not send valid text updates. read more

This afternoon I picked up my car from Lexus of Marin, where it has been since July 22. I brought it in for service before Nina and I take it to Ashland next week. They discovered several oil leaks and kept it to repair them. It's a1997 SC400 w/ more than 186K miles on it, so it's not surprising that there would be issues, despite my having taken good care of it. Just past the bridge on i-580 I notice the smell of burning oil and when I pulled into the garage I notice the check engine light was on. I called Lexus and spoke w/ Greg, the service manager. He suggested I call AAA and have the car brought back to them on a flatbed truck. They would fix it and then bring it back to me. I called AAA where eventually I spoke w/ a person rather than the automated response calling itself Ursa, which was frustrating and less than satisfactory. The woman I spoke w/ was very helpful. She told me it might take as long as 2 hours to get a flatbed truck and there would be an out of pocket cost for the trip beyond the 5 miles covered by our basic membership. I authorized that. Shortly after I hung up I received an automated message from AAA that a truck would be there in 20-30 minutes. In about that amount of time the truck from S&F was pulling into our cul-de-sac. I drove my car out of the garage, the truck turned around and the driver loaded my car on the flatbed and secured it. He charged my credit card, w/ an additional $5 charge for using the card. I called Greg back to let him know the car was on its way. The car was delivered to the dealership an hour or so later. Four stars for being there more quickly than originally expected and for securing my car so neatly and delivering it safely. read more

This is my first bad review on Yelp, and I give it without hesitation. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use these guys. They will cheat you and try to charge you for services WITHOUT being up front about the costs. David showed up on a service call set up by my insurance roadside assistance. I asked for a jump and a tow, which I paid $75 to my insurance company (yes, insurance sucks too). When he arrived and I asked for the jump and the tow, he did the jump, loaded the car on the tow truck. Only after we had been driving about 10 minutes did he say "oh, that's an additional $45 for the jump". What on earth?!? I had already paid the insurance company the $75, why the additional charge? I got pissed- why wouldn't you tell me they before you did the service? Why wouldn't you say something after already being in the truck and on our way to the shop!? He threatened to 'impound' my car if I didn't pay. We had a very ugly and heated exchange. In no way should business not tell you what they are charging you AFTER completing a task. He knew that, and they know that. Terrible business practices. I would advice you to NOT use this company. They will CHEAT you! read more

Bum owner is rude and condescending and uses intimidation tactics. He acts like I should grovel at his feet after paying the ridiculous fee to get my car back. They also snuck in an additional $95 "equipment charge". When I called to inquire about the charge, he told me it was because I didn't give my keys to the driver. I was never presented the option and he simply responded, "it is what it is". Legalized car jacking at it's finest. Take my cash and just give me my car back loser. read more

Greedy and dishonest. They charged for a lien fee yet they had my car less than the 72 hours required by law. When I questioned them, they said they had my car for 3 days. The law clearly states 72 hours not days. After calculating the time they had my car, it did not amount to 72 hours. When I questioned them they got extremely rude and defensive. I will reporting them for the illegal practices. They also charged an additional $95 for the use of "special equipment" which turned out to be snatch blocks, something regularly used by tow companies at no additional charge (I called other tow companies to confirm this). S&F Towing is an unethical and dishonest company and I would never recommend them. read more

His yes ma'am's and no ma'am's barely masked his asshole tendencies. Sorry for my true feelings coming out but after waiting 2 1/2 hours in a fast food parking lot in not the best neighborhood after just getting off work near by I think anyone would agree. The reg just expired in Jan. He told me he was red flagging the vehicle and to call a commercial tow. I called a tow for my son 2 weeks ago. His tags are expired 3 months. Driver never said a word. Towed it and we had great conversation back to my house. This S&F tow driver was extremely aggressive seemed very agitated and took pleasure in telling me I wasted a tow. My husband told him to leave and then he became confrontational. My husband walked away and this driver did not stop. Trying to provoke my husband. I told the driver sorry to waste your time pls leave. I called AAA and told them what happened. This driver LIED stated I the card holder was never present just my husband. WOW!!! I filed my complaint. Here is what I think this guy is trying to do, he feels he just got a Free tow, Now that I have read all the other yelp complaints it seems right up their alley.he didn't have to work because AAA would pay him then he tried to solicit his company to be the commercial tow. Terrible service! Lie after lie! First they tell you they need the key for your car, so we arranged a time. 3:11pm on the dot. Please be there or leave car unlock so we can access car... I make sure to be thee on time so I can get my car to the shop.. It's 4:04 and the guy just showed up! He kept saying he was on the wrong entrance of the parking lot when in reality there is two entrances and in either one you can easily find me! If you have all the time to wait go for them! But when you have a job, children and other things to attend to, this company it's not reliable! Ps, Guy was nice when he showed up, but no apologies at all after waiting for one hour! I called S&F towing to request an itemized invoice for insurance purposes but had the misfortune of speaking to the rudest, most uncooperative human possible. The driver issued a 3x5" scrap of paper with the amount of the tow but nothing else. No company name, no mileage and no pickup or drop off destination and Mr. Rude said that was all that was required. My insurance company is certainly not going to accept that so called receipt for reimbursement. He also rudely told me he would have his secretary call me but I knew and he knew that was not going to happen and of course it did not. I wish there was a lower rating than one star because they certainly earned zero. read more

He navigated my neighborhood and the cars parked on the street with ease. He delivered my car as if I had driven it there and parked it myself - close to the curb, not at an angle. Driver of 2415 was not wearing a face mask. Given his interaction with the public, I felt at risk. I told the driver this. He said that I accused him of being "infected" instead of just putting on the required face covering. I had scheduled an appointment for tow via my insurance carrier. My carrier confirmed that they had sent the dispatch request to S&F towing. When the tow truck failed to arrive I called them and received a very terse apathetic response that they knew nothing of the request. My carrier confirmed that the request was sent. S&F tow offered no solution and I had to get a tow from Double AA. S&F tow is extremely unreliable and their service towards customers is horrible. read more

Wow! I read all of the 1 star reviews. This was not my experience. My son's car broke down at Planet Fitness in Richmond. I called AAA. They sent this company. AAA has them as S 'n F Towing in Richmond although the sign on the truck simply said SF Towing, Alameda. JULIO was the driver who helped us. He arrived in 15 minutes. He was fast & efficient. He carried the car to Hilltop Ford. I told him I wanted to Yelp him so could I have a biz card. He didn't have one. A Google search also didn't come up with the company. I was just driving on I5 at noon in Stockton and a S&F tow truck merged onto the freeway from Hwy4 and cut across 3 lanes and I had to slam on my brakes in order to not get rammed from the side by the tow truck's erratic driver. He then moved into the fast lane and preceded to speed away at about 80 miles per hour. I guess he was in a hurry to get back to Alameda, I hope he doesn't kill anyone on the way! read more
