Struggling to find a brunch spot that would be more than standard and would be memorable when I knew I wouldn't be back for a while. This is where I stumbled on and I couldn't be happier. This little, unassuming joint is in the Surfside neighborhood and you would likely walk right by not knowing it's there. It's not a deli but a cool twist. The menus was awesome and interesting. Josh was sexy as fuck working the grill and the staff were nice, welcoming and funny. The comedy wasn't extra although the waitress would have you think it was. Really added to my meal though! I had the fried, soft shell crab breakfast sandwich on a croissant which was mouth watering delicious and huge. Yes I ate the whole thing. Don't judge. The coffee also was dinerish good. Strong. Food was out of this world!!! If you're visiting this deli by yourself I'd recommend sitting at the bar. It's a nice view of them cooking and the food smells really good while your waiting. I had scrambled eggs, latkes and bacon - everything was perfect! After that I ordered French toast and a latte. This was the first time I've ever eaten French toast without syrup that's how good it is! Service was great everyone is friendly. The timing of the food coming out to the table - perfect! I find this to be very important. Timing is everything and so is the temperature, in this case both were right on target. this is one of my favorite local hidden gems here in Miami Beach. the food is always delicious and the service is always friendly and helpful. I always get the corned beef hash and eggs. but today I decided to get the french toast as well. what a great decision. the homemade strawberry jam on top was unexpectedly stole the show. it's the little things on top of all the delectable food that makes everything about this place so perfect. cozy and warming enviorment and relaxing and uplifting music choice making it one of the most welcoming places I've ever visited in Miami. I thought long and hard about this review as a lot of people voted this place favorable. What I can say about it is that I was very disappointed and expected Waymore than what I got. There were two of us and I had a corn beef sandwich while the other party had a pastrami sandwich I wanted mine on a roll but all they had was their own homemade rye bread from what my understanding was. I did not want it toasted but it came toasted anyway against my wishes. The corn beef and the pastrami looked and tasted like something you would buy out of Publix and cook for yourself in a pot. I was far from impressed. Expecting to have a kosher pickle, the type pickle is nothing more than you would get on a hamburger from the snack shack at a ballfield. I also had as one of my side coleslaw and french fries... For the price of the food why use crinkle cuts out of a bag when you should be cutting them fresh? To add insult injury, there was three other people/couples in the restaurant and it took me 45 minutes to get my meal, again unacceptable!! And considering this place is steps away from the bal harbor shops, it was priced quite high considering the quality you got. Maybe I'm too much of a connoisseur when it comes to food, but I'll stick with Ben's deli up in Boca Raton... That's where you have a good corn beef sandwich. Oy I love this place! Being a new transplant to Miami Beach via NYC , I've found in general the food to be bleh *all the same* and customer service to be snobby. Perhaps this is why Josh's deli is everything to me right now. Great food , with a brunch menu that changes every weekend. I had the tuna latkes with siracha cream. Really I could have that every day of my life...no really perhaps the best thing I've had since I discovered donuts....that good it beats donuts. I also had the eggs Benedict which where something out of this world since they include bagels made fresh by Josh( again my mouth is drooling). The Boo Thing and I got seats right in front of Josh in action and I have to say whether he realizes or not he puts on a great show . Imagine watching food network live. I really wanted to like this place given the rave reviews here on Yelp. However, neither the service nor food was great. I called multiple times to place a pickup/to go order and no one answered. My cousin insisted they were open so we drove by. Since they were indeed open we went ahead and placed a to go order for ourselves and our husbands. We decided on the latkes, pastrami sandwich (x2), and Jewbans (x2). I also requested Russian dressing. The pastrami sandwiches were soggy. The meat was more Smokey and less briney than used to with NY style. The latkes were crunchy on the outside AND on the inside which had the texture of under cooked potatoes, yet borderline burned on the outside. I never got the Russian dressing. As for service, we were never greeted. Rather we felt like we were imposing, but I insisted on trying their food regardless because of all the positive reviews. I do suspect the sandwich would have been marginally better if we ate in. Will I come back? No. I'd sooner order a shipment from the institution on the lower east side in NY.... read more

This quaint and not your average deli spot is easy to miss but so worth the hassle when trying to find it as you drive or walk along Harding Ave. A dear friend brought me their cold brew a few times to work but it wasn't until this past Easter that I decided to see what this place was about. As I walked in I instantly fell in love with the decor and the way that the staff was so welcoming. What made it even better was that Josh the owner came to introduce himself. Super cool guy. He also cooks himself in the open kitchen they have. I tried the Grits and Octopus with sausage, gravy and poached egg. It was absolutely delicious and filling! Although the prices are steep, everything is cured and made fresh from within. I'm looking forward to returning so that I can try out the rest of the menu. Absolute best breakfast / brunch in Miami. No matter the menu Josh is offering that day, we have always had great meals. The krunchy spicy tuna latkes are an absolute must starter to share at the table or selfishly keep to yourself. As for the rest of breakfast, there's no bad decision. Always a fan of the simple three eggs, homemade bagels, over the top French toast or pancakes and whatever the weekend special is. Just depends on your mood and hunger. I love this little gem in Harding. The menu rotates but a staple is the corn beef benediction. I can not say enough good things about this dish. Delicious and huge ! I have never been to an eating establishment where the love of the cuisine shines through as much as Josh's. and why? Because of Josh. That's why. He made everything for us, right in front of us and it's blatant that he cares deeply about his craft. The space is small and dark, but with the sun beaming in, it doesn't feel closed in. It feels cozy. The kitchen is entirely open, facing the bar and a handful of tables offer a view of Surfside. You can see many of the ingredients ready to be used. Watching Josh take those ingredients and do some abracadabra s!@$ is worth the price of admission, especially when you taste that first bite. I had a pastrami on rye. The rye wasn't as strong as I like it, but the pastrami was tender and juicy with a balanced fat to meat ratio. The Parmesan truffle oil fries were rich and bountiful. We couldn't finish it all, no matter how much my stomach begged me to. Josh keeps it light and gets to know his clientele, but isn't overbearing. When he talks about food, the deep passion comes through. It's a genuine sales pitch and it lives up to the promise so I look forward to returning - maybe for some of that turkey he was talking about. This is another neuvo-deli - inspired by an age where delis dominated cities, but with modern flavors from faraway places. There is no pretense in a joint like this. You're there to eat and to get filled up with good food. You don't go there to be seen or "have an experience." It's the kind of place that becomes regular for locals without getting boring. Update 10/10 way better experiences as I returned to Josh's deli for breakfast the day of Matthew Hurricane and got great food and service! Just went up a Star. Also went back again the same weekend and I had a solid Benediction. Rave reviews have been generous for this little spot in surfside. You come in crushing on the feeling of the place as it's very homey. I was guest #2 for the morning as they just opened up at 8:30am I ordered my espresso and ordered the benediction and a cornbeef sandwich which seem to be the online favorites. The namesake was maning the kitchen which I thought was cool in the open kitchen. He may have been behind on his prep or something or he really has focus on fresh eats because he was still working on batches of bagels and topping them off. 20 minutes in he decided to start on my benediction. I didnt see any fresh cutting of the beef or anything but at the moment the dish made it in front of me it was less than exciting. Eggs Benediction: Bagel: Great Potatoes/hash: great Corn beef: UPDATE 10/010 : MOIST..... and no longer dryyyyy . He threw water or some fluid to reheat it on the skillet but it was dead... Hollandaise sauce: nice and lemony but barely on my dish Eggs: overcooked.. I was looking for yolk to ooze all over my hash. This moment would never come. Update 10/10/16 ooze happened!! 30 minutes in he was trying to work on the only other table's order of smoked salmon when I decided to 86 the sandwich. To which he instructed the waitress to give me 10% off. A set of parents and 2 kids sat down and walked put in all this time because the kids were hungry. A Josh's "first name basis" guest which was the only guest prior to me had a fresh juice and also 86 his Chow Fun order he had made earlier and said he may come back later. Josh's Deli is located in Surfside, FL. The location can be a bit hard to see from the street, but once you stumble upon this hole-in-the-wall deli you will never regret the day you did! The interior is quaint, which can fill up quickly if it is lunch hour as I found out today. I usually go during the weekdays where it is a little less hectic. The staff is very personable and I was greeted as soon as I walked in, even though they were very busy! It's this types of attention to customer service that makes a great restaurant! I ordered the Soft Shell Crab Croissant today, which was TO DIE FOR. It was an omelette with a whole soft shell crab on the croissant. it was served to me fresh off the grill, like the VIP that I already am there :P, but it melted in my mouth to perfection! I have tried a few of the other things on the menu, and everything is delectable. They cure their own meats in house, and everything is Kosher and fresh made daily. Josh's Deli is a true gem in the town of Surfside. Every time I go there, I need to take a nap afterwards, which is terrible being that I need to return to work!!!
