If I could leave 0 stars I would. I came in to get 2 used tires and before I got there he asked for size on tires. I gave him the size and he said they had them. Got to the shop tires were replaced and he said the check engine light would be on for about 40 miles or so. I'm driving home and my car is jerking the entire time. I drive back and come to find out the tires were a different size. He then tells me he'll give me two more tires for the other ones that weren't changed and I said okay that's fine. I leave come back and still ended up getting charged the same exact amount as I did for the first two. Not even a week goes by and tires are already having issues. I guess that's what happens when you get used tires.. nothing but issues and the guy there just tries to scam people for more money. Would not recommend!!! read more

Wish I could give 0 stars honestly. This business is so shady. First I show up and they said they had 2 tires for $50 + the balancing fee of $22 and tax. I said great. Then I went to get my husband and his car so I could drop mine off and run an errand. When we got back, maybe 15 minutes later, he said he actually didn't have the $50 tires and he has ones for $70. So I said fine, I need the tires. After that he tried to tell me I needed to replace the stem valves on each tire which I've never even heard of. I didn't agree to that or ask him to do it. I left my car there and came back to pick it up to find that the bill was $260 because they replaced those parts even though I didn't ask him to. After all that I drove home and my car was shaking like crazy. So my husband went back and they would not offer a refund or any type of solution. Obviously I'm very disappointed that what I thought would be about $144+tax turned into $260 and I'm probably going to have to take it somewhere else even though they offer a "30 day warranty". Not sure what that even means if they won't refund you or fix anything when you have a problem. TLDR; Typical shady car repair shop. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Wanted to charge $225 for two crappy tires with a gash on the sidewall claiming that it's perfectly fine. $100 for two tires, $50 for mount and balance!!!!! $50 for a valve stem!!!!!! I bought some new tires online and just needed them swapped onto some rooms I had. Called around to a couple of tire shops to ask what they charged for doing that, and Josh's said $21 per tire, which was a little less than the next higher place, so we went to Josh's. On the phone I told him that I need new tires to be mounted on existing rims, and I want to keep the old tires that he will be taking off. So we get there and he's the rudest tire guy I've ever seen. Just rude and unhelpful, afraid to get his hands dirty and required us to unload all 8 of our tires and stack them in the spot he specified. They did the work, and the bill is $28 more than what he quoted on the phone. When we asked, he said there's a $7 per tire dismount fee. As if we didn't already tell him the old tires would need to be dismounted on the phone? Anyway, I paid it. But I paid in cash and needed $4 change. He searches his pockets, pulls out a huge wad of twenties, finds 2 ones, and tells me to load my tires back into the truck and he'll go find the other $2. So I load my tires up, then have to wander around his shop searching for him. Finally I find him and have to ask for my two damn dollars. He acts like he forgot about it and bums $2 (a one dollar bill and another dollar in various coins) from the flunky working in the shop. He also sells guns but they're all extremely high priced. Talked with 7 different shops trying to find a place that would take care of rototiller tires for me. I would have don't it myself but didn't have the tools and figured it be less expensive to just take it somewhere else. Against better judgment, I took them here because this was the only place willing to change them. Said they could change them no problem and it'd be pretty cheap. Then I got the bill. Should never have made the mistake of going here. It would have been cheaper to drive all the way to south Austin or Pfluggerville to a lawn equipments/small engine shop. Myo, the shop worker even said that "I'm doing cheap for you, the owner wanted to charge you almost twice as much per tire". I don't know what's cheap about this. Kicking myself more making the mistake of going to this dump. Definitely won't do it again. Look at the receipt and what they were changing for yourself. $10 per tire to dismount $10 per tire to write brush the rims $10 per tire to mount the new tires to rims $5 per tire for a new stem $5 to recycle both tires I was there for maybe 20 minutes... Absolutely absurd. $35 would have been more than enough for BOTH tires. The only thing remotely reasonable at all was the recycling fee. But most places won't even charge that if you're doing business with them. Otherwise, that's average price for that. Point being, doing waste your time on this dump. Absolutely not a good business. They came out to try and put it on my car and the technician working on it stated that they did not balance it. I wonder how many more people get away without asking. This place - WOW. My spidey sence got me out of there thankfully with limited damage. This place is a joke..owner is 100% a con, very verbally agressive and will oversell you and overcharge you as you get into his back and forth. I should have looked at the reviews before i ever turned into his parking lot. I just needed to replace a blown tire on a truck I am selling, hard used tire to find, but he had last week, so I came into today to get put on and conversation led to all the others were in bad shape. I dont disagree that other tires probably could be replaced but the bait and switch that started after that was CRAZY. I should have educated myself before looking for a spare boat tire but I didnt. I thought I found a decent deal for a tire and rim but when I brought it back to my boat (which had a blowout) my husband inspected it to find out it was an 8 year old tire with dry rot. The used tire I was sold sells for $10 more at discount tire for a NEW ONE!! clearly I was taken advantage of because I am a women! Again I should have done my own research prior to buying and didnt because we were in a bind with a trailer flat! Its partly my fault for buying such crap but geeze what happened to good ole honesty! Scammers took advantage of my father an elderly old man. Provided a tire they claimed was new and had a bubble in it. Tried to return it and offered 20$ for the tire they originally charged 170$ for. I was at this shop on September 21for a tire sensor light repair. I was sold 4 new Lexus claimed tire sensors. The sensors and installation for $1266 and two new Michelin tires for $350. A tire busted the second day while driving. Walmart told me that Josh's mounted the wrong size, used truck Michelin tires inflated as high as 81psi on my 33psi sedan car. I was at Josh's Tire four times all to no avail, with no help but lies and empty promises. I had to go to Costco to buy four new Michellin tires where I discovered that the sensors sold to me by Josh's tires were used, off-market defective sensors. I am a retiree and my son that just returned from a Japan deployment was coming that weekend for a visit. I was defrauded of over $1600 at Josh's Tire, spent $985 at Costco, and still have my tire sensor light on. If you love yourself and your life, stay away from this Josh's Used Tire Shop. read more

I brought a tire back that was egg shaped which was making the front end of my truck shake and since Ed, the guy that sold me the tire along with Josh the owner marked the paperwork wrong as to which tire was replaced (it was the front right tire but they marked it as the rear left) . They said the only way they would replace the faulty tire they sold me is if I paid $16.99 for the mount and balance bc a guy that only worked here for a few days did my paperwork wrong and charging me the $16.99 "was the only way he wouldn't get an ass chewing from Josh." I've read all the bad reviews on here about Josh's operation but haven't personally had any issues until now (this is my 7th tire purchased from these guys). Believe the reviews. After paying more I was waiting for my car to be fixed as the owner saw me as a person of color and decided to say "hey we won't take your car unless you pay another $28 dollars." I have 4 new tires that I bought from pep boys with the receipt that I was going to install myself with tire spoons but I figured I'd get some prices. I took one look at this place and thought I was either gunna be robbed by the riff raff help they have working on cars or my wheels fall off on the way home. I approach one of the clowns asking him how much to mount ,balance, and new valve my wheels with the tires I supplied that I had the receipt for. While I'm asking he passed gas. It was gross,loud, and obnoxious. It sounded like someone ripping a very wet bed sheet or someone pulling very old plywood off the walls In a house. I have been a long long long time customer of Josh's Used Tires and usually have received excellent service and acknowledgment of being a long time customer. However, this past December I had 2 studs replaced on my right front tire as well as new tires. On March 3rd my husband was driving down MoPac & the studs broke off! Our car immediately hit the pavement and skidded and the tire rolled down the freeway! We had our car towed to Josh's and was immediately hit with defensiveness. We were given practically 101 reasons why it was not their fault. It seems their main contention is we have custom wheels and, according to Josh himself, is a major factor in breaking studs. We have had the same custom wheels on our vehicle since the day we bought the car in 2003...never had a problem. I know many people who have after market or custom wheels and their tires don't break off and roll down the freeway. We were also told by Josh that we need an alignment...well duh!...after an abrupt stop and drop to the ground one would expect to need an alignment. I understand it may be hard to say exactly who is at fault or who is responsible in this situation. However, we have 13 receipts from services we have had done at this establishment in the past year alone averaging $160.00 per receipt. I would think the owner would have done more to keep a long term customer...but he did not. We were a loyal customer but nothing was done to even meet us half way. Needless to say we will not be back & will have to file an insurance claim. It is known that every unhappy customer takes at least 10 with them. I will not refer anyone to this establishment and if anyone asks me I will make sure they are aware of this situation. read more

I was helping a former foster kid who was sleeping on the streets, no food, no money - in the freezing wind and rain sleeping outside. He went "to work" for this place 12 hour shifts. Basically, it's like this: We go in to get some work done (alignment). We are told $59.99. We ask about other services (tire related) and ask about the price of them but are not given it. We sign a blank ticket listing services with no amounts. Work on everything is done without any word. Later, the amounts are filled in to total $250 ("oh yeah, we forgot to tell you about labor"). When we ask why there was such a BIG difference between the two, the only response is to go down the list of services... and uh... that's about it. "I mean, you signed the ticket" (even though it was blank at the time?!?!) Maybe we have put up with this as a general public for so long that automotive places don't think to get work approved before performing it, especially when it's such a big difference. Dont waste your time or money here. Very shady business practices. My tire had a leak and after a new tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) it was still leaking so I went back. Then they sealed the rim to the tire which looks ugly and nasty which I could over look if it fixed the problem but it didnt. Then I noticed they broke my air valve but the guy apologized and said he would replace it. Next day tire still leaking and has black gunk all over my chrome rims and the TIRE VALVE wasnt fixed. I go back and not only do they deny I was a customer he has the nerve to call me a liar. I asked to speak to the owner and I got the run around for 20 min and they refused to give my any info or where "Josh" could be reached. At that point I felt my SAFETY was at risk and I got out of there before anything happened. Avoid this business AT ALL COST! My husband took his truck there today to get used tires for 1. he needed them and 2. he needed to pass inspection. Problem #1 my husband drives a truck the original tires that were on it were 20's. These idiots put car tires like really small freaking tires on my husbands truck. Problem #2 They put the correct size tires on them. My husband takes it to get inspection done - it doesn't pass inspection because of the damn tires my husband just bought. Josh is just trying to make a buck with shitty tires. I was there to get two tires to take with me as I was installing four wheels on my car same day at discount tire. Discount inspected the tires and found one with two small nails in it and the other with a very old string plug. They weren't able to install them as they were not safe. I took the tires back and it was just a big hassle to get different ones, he just wanted to patch these up again. Finally after a long wait when I get my tires and got to discount one of the tires was a little bumpy and would cause vibration but it was safe enough to install. Overall josh sells shit tires with nails or patched up holes in them and will avoid any kind of return! read more
