Josie's is one of my favorite spots in Lexington. I used to only go for brunch, which is their speciality. My favorite is the Chevy Chase special or a waffle! I had never been for anything but brunch until one day I went with a group at dinner and WOW! Their spicy burger and fries is one of my favorite burgers in Lexington! I was so surprised that their lunch and dinner menu is as good as their breakfast. Josie's has also adapted well to the pandemic. They have converted part of their parking lot into a covered patio, and all servers are required to wear masks. read more

Josie's is a staple in the rotation for me. They serve breakfast ALL. DAY. What more can you ask for, honestly? Their pancakes are delightful, as are the omlettes, and eggs benedict. On the lunch menu, I've enjoyed their Reuben, burger, and chicken salad. They are all great! Their fries are tasty, but you should also consider the sweet potato fries. Their dinner specials are always awesome. I've never had anything I don't like. Basically, Josie's isn't fancy or really that hip, but it's a great little eclectic place with delicious food. The only downside is that, when they are busy, there can be a bit of a wait and they don't take reservations or call ahead. read more

There is nothing special about the food at this place whatsoever. The food is very OVER PRICED. I ordered the Chevy Chase special not only was it terrible it had a price tag of close to $18 for breakfast! The eggs tasted like they had a ton of nonstick spray on them and the gravy was disgusting. The gravy tasted like sweet red peppers had been added to it. And they charged my husband $5.50 for 2 sausage links. Our waiter never came back and refilled our drinks. We only saw him 2 times the whole entire time we were there. read more

This was a delivery during COVID 19. The delivery was fast and the door dash delivery person was great. I ordered the quesadilla of the day (it wasn't named on the menu, so it was a surprise). It was some type of ground beef. A little greasy, but overall was cheesy and well seasoned. Good with sour cream, though I wasn't super impressed with their salsa--tomatoes just didn't have great flavor. I also ordered a grilled pimento cheese, and though it's what I would call "trashy" good, it was suuuuper melted. You couldn't really tell it was pimento rather than cheese dip or something. Grilled pretty well, the bread wasn't burned or too dark. But it was great for breakfast after a long night shift. Would also make great hangover food! Fries were ok, but a little cold. Probably due to delivery. The breakfast potatoes were better and had more flavor. Their "good bacon" is just bacon, but it is "good." This place has a lot of sandwiches and omelets as well as breakfast plates available. Probably better in house when not having to be delivered across town. I would eat here again. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to have brunch here for the first time. As we walked in, a hostess that was an older female just rudely stared without greeting us or even a smile finally decided to seat us after I told her we needed a table. Despite the unfriendly welcome I was delighted at the rest of the experience. Heather is an excellent, friendly waitress that took care of our needs! She recommended the Florentine eggs Benedict which I thoroughly enjoyed, the spinach was melt in my mouth good. My boyfriend had the Cheezy Omelette with a side of the cheesy grits, which he described it as the best he's ever had. Josie's is one of my favorite breakfast stops in Lexington! The best place in the area for a good classic breakfast. Tends to be pretty busy on weekends during breakfast time, but definitely worth the wait. Today when I went, I had to ask a few times for the waitress to bring out my coffee, which I ended up finally getting by the time our food came out. This was a little disappointing cause I always like to drink my coffee before my meal! I got the Chevy chase special: 2 eggs, hashbrown or grit casserole, a biscuit and gravy, and your choice of meat. I'm a Cincinnati girl, so I was so excited to see they serve goetta here! Such a cute restaurant! Cece was our waitress and so sweet. The whipped cream on the pancakes was unbelievably delicious!! Sweet with a hint of vanilla. My favorite little local breakfast spot! When I was in college and lived on park ave which is just a hop, skip and a jump on over. They have the absolute best waffles, cheese grits and sausage! I love the hometown local feel. When you get coffee they use mugs from all around. The staff is very friendly and generally the wait isn't too bad but the have complementary coffee and water in the waiting area! I've visited the Georgetown location a couple of times but this was the first time trying Chevy Chase. All three times I've had Josies I ordered from the lunch or dinner menu and all three times I've come away thinking it was "fine". Nothing that blew my mind but also nothing to really complain about. Josie's has always been a favorite brunch place of mine! I returned this afternoon and was very pleased with my meal as always. Service was quick and prompt even though the restaurant was full. Josie's is always full of people, but I was pleasantly surprised that there was not a wait to be seated. Waffles or pancakes are always an excellent choice because they include powdered sugar, butter and whipped cream on top if you so choose. Here is my first impression, three and a half star, breakfast experience: I'd tried the other location when it was off Harrodsburg Road, but the few times that I went by the Chevy Chase location, it was closed. I'm still unclear on whether or not they're now open at this location on Sundays. I found out on Twitter that they were the one of the only places that I found open for breakfast on Christmas Eve, so here is where I was for breakfast. I decided to go with the Two & Two. Which consisted of two eggs, two meats and a biscuit. I chose my eggs over medium and they were a tad too browned for my liking. The waiter mentioned that they have Goetta as a meat option, I'd never heard of Goetta, so I asked him to explain. Goetta is apparently common in Cincinnati and it is a sausage and oat concoction made into a patty. I wanted to try it, but the waiter said that I would have to order it as both of my meats. So... the verdict is that the Two & Two meat choices have to be of the same meat. If you try the Goetta here, let me know what you think... I might have to make a trip back to try it. I decided to go with sausage. They were the biggest link sausages that I've ever had and I wasn't too find of them. If I had to do it over again, I'd have went with Goetta. They have a quiche and pancake of the day offering and I overheard someone mention that the pancakes of the day were white chocolate drizzled in raspberry sauce. The people at the table over got an order of pancakes and they were huge.... It looked like there were about four or five in the stack. I decided to order a side order, one pancake. I can tell you that the pancake was the one thing that they got right. The waiter mentioned that he was bringing me a refill but the next time he stopped, instead of reminding him that my cup was still empty, I just asked for a soda to go. He ended up charging me for it! So not only did I only pay for my one cup of soda, I paid for the one to go soda too... not a big deal, just not cool. read more

This is truly a great place to dine. We stopped in for brunch and I honestly couldn't decide what to have. The very helpful friendly waitress helped me with my decision. I went with the pumpkin chocolate chip pancake stack with whip cream and I am so glad I did so. This was by far the best pancakes I believe I have ever had. The food is perfect, the staff is friendly and prompt. It is a great place to take the entire family. It is tucked in the back of Chevy Chase Plaza and so good. My relator brought me and my partner here to celebrate our latest house purchase. It seems as though Paul Ryan and his family at here when they were passing through Lexington and our relator said "if it's good enough for Paul Ryan, its good enough for us." LOL. I love good breakfast. And I like to go to Josie's for their Egg's Benedict. Going on a weekend you can expect a crowd. But if you go on a weekday, it's much less crowded. Delicious coffee. Cheesy grits. Excellent servers. They also make a really delicious pot roast at dinner time . Huge serving. I need 3 attempts to finish it. No matter if it's been busy or not. On every visit I've made each server made me feel as though I was their only and most important customer. It's always a delicious treat to enjoy a meal here!
