Very cute shop with nice atmosphere. Connected with a home furnishing shop, gift shop, and kids clothing boutique. Coffee shop offers many drinks options and limited little bites. They have a walk up window for the amazing outdoors seating (slightly loud due to Main Street traffic. Service was slightly limited questionable since they forgot the quiche then asked if we wanted warmed up or not. We responded yes and was handed a prepared wrapped quiche and instructed to use their microwave and plates to warm it up on our way when we asked about the order status (knocked off 1 star for this). read more

Joy Bar has really stepped up in recent years. First, their selection has gotten a lot wider. In addition to more expansive seasonal menus (typically with latte, mocha, cold brew, and chai options), they have a solid lot of house specialties (the staples). Of them, I've enjoyed the Cinnamon Toast latte while my wife is a fan of the Berry Haze. I've been trying to do sugar-free syrups when I can as of late, and thankfully, Joy Bar has a larger-than-average assortment of them on hand. While the coffee is still the biggest strength, Joy Bar does offer more. Whether you need a baked good, a bag of beans, a chocolate bar (courtesy of local artisans Eigen), or a gift, Joy Bar has you covered. The baristas are always friendly, and while there isn't always a table to spare (inside at least - patio seating is usually open in nicer weather), the atmosphere remains comfortable. High Point is practically hemorrhaging coffee shops at this point, but even amid the heightened competition, Joy Bar is a reliably good option. read more

I had a good experience at Joy Bar. I ordered an iced americano with cold foam and purchased their pumpkin bread. Both were delicious. The coffee was smooth and the cold foam added a nice creamy touch. The pumpkin bread was from a local bakery (forgot which one) and it was flavorful, making it a perfect pairing with my drink. We stopped in for a little pick me up from Joy Bar Coffee and it's the cutest coffee shop! I love that you can either order from a window outside or come inside to order. Our barista was super friendly, I was having a hard time deciding which drink I wanted to order off of their fall menu and she was awesome giving me suggestions. I went with the Pecan Pie latte because the barista told me it took the longest for them to perfect and it was the best selection for me. I love pecan pie and while it did taste like pie, there was also the strong, bold coffee flavor I loved. The inside is cute and spacious and I live that they sell trinkets from outside vendors. This place is in a prime spot for anyone looking to fuel up for an evening in downtown High Point, or just to find quiet refuge to talk with a friend or get some work done. They have a nice sized patio with plenty of natural growth that can be enjoyed, and even a window where you can order directly from the outdoors. They're also adjoined to some neat stores selling an eclectic mix of items where you can sip (carefully) and peruse! My standard drink is an iced mocha, and the one they served up had a nice deep espresso flavor while also a perfect marriage of chocolate. As a new coffee drinker, i need that hit to cut things a little, and with some milk I found it all very well balanced. In the past, this place used to be called 83 Custom Coffee, and you can still find some things around that are branded that way, including their mobile coffee bar outside. One of my favorite coffee spots in High Point. Staff is always pleasant and welcoming. The space is very cozy and ideal for getting some work done. It's generally pretty quiet and most people just come and go. There are a lot of options on their menu and they usually have seasonal menus. I usually opt for their delicious apple cider or their freshly blended Matcha. Once had a marshmallow infused fall drink but forgot the name. It was delicious though. This cafe is a dream. I ate lunch in the outdoor garden patio facing the street, with a fire pit and a wind chime on a large tree. Such a picturesque setting, I almost forgot I was on Main St. The Halloween drink menu "What We Brew in the Shadows" mesmerized me. I chose the Frankenstein, a lavender blackberry matcha with a chocolate swirl, served hot, and with oat milk as recommended. It was just the right level of sweetness and the flavors worked so well together. There is indoor seating as well, with restrooms. This cafe is attached to a furniture store and flower shop. It was fun to lounge and people-watch the busy walk-up order window that is available at the front of the store. They were playing some good tunes, including The Smiths and The Cure, that I suppose would be considered 'oldies' now, but endeared me even more to the café ;-). read more

After trying a few other places and finding 83, I made it a point to come here every day I was in town. Twice even on some! My visits only took place at their coffee truck, not the physical store. Stopped by here with some friends the other weekend. Super cute inside and out. There is a window outside for ordering and a ton of space inside. The place itself is semi connected to some cute decor stores that we didn't have time to explore. Seemingly cute all around downtown though. When we arrived, we could tell the poor baristas were struggling. Then one left and the other was solo. She was trying to manage a window and a line of 6+ people solo. My friends and I tried to keep orders simple to help because she was clearly flustered. Eventually it died down and she could take a breather. And we asked her to take a photo for us. She was super kind. The cold brew coffee was a bit weak with all the ice but nice nonetheless. I kind of wish I got a speciality drink or latte instead as they looked good. First time trying 83 Custom Coffee today. I ordered from the outside window and the barista was very nice and professional. I enjoyed a cup of drip coffee and it was smooth and tasty. The barista informed me that customers could order, sit, and enjoy their orders inside. They have treats / pastries made by Cozy Cannoli (if you haven't been there you are missing out, try their croissants). I will be stopping for coffee again soon. read more

Found the cutest coffee shop. Unfortunately, because of COVID the inside is closed, but they have a nice safe walk-up window for everyone to order from. I've been here twice so far and both people I've encountered were super nice and patient. There is a stationary coffee truck outside as well, it wasn't open but I'm assuming sometimes it is? They also have a cute little area up front outside with some greenery and some tables. Very inviting and inviting. I'm a sucker for specials and flavored drinks so I kind of jumped at the campfire smores mocha drink. My new favorite coffee spot in High Point. 83 Custom Coffee, located on North Main St, used to be hosted out of a coffee truck, but has now opened its doors to a clean and modern cafe indoors (until the Coronavirus). The coffee truck is still parked out front so you know you've found the right place. They typically have one barista working with one espresso machine and two hot coffee choices. Their espresso beverages are incredible! The flavor of the espresso is caramelly and perfect. And yes, I know that's not a real word. I've had an iced Americano, a mocha, a strawberry mocha (chocolate covered strawberry latte), an iced chai latte and a few other seasonal treats. They were all so yummy! They serve pastries from Camino Bakery in Winston Salem and if you haven't had them, you should. I love their ginormous cookies. They are a perfect combination of chewy and crunchy. Their almond croissant is also a solid choice. For now, they're open and operating out of the cafe window. So walk up and support local. You won't regret it and you'll be caffeinated in the best of ways. read more
