Honestly this was a really bad massage. Me and my friend were so excited for these massages and we walked out very disappointed. The staff seem nice but their techniques were completely off. I always get a massage and I knew it was going to be a bad massage when they used a little bit of lotion instead of oil. And the way she was massaging me was extremely rough and it seems very rushed. I kept making my legs stiff so she aware how much it hurt even though I ask her for medium when she asked for my preference. It was obvious I wasn't relaxed at all. I couldn't wait till it was over. I am not even sure where to begin with this review. First, the masseuses here are just about all great. They really pay attention to what you request and it helps that they check a few times if the pressure for the particular massage is good or not. They are also friendly and always very attentive. This place is a gem, it is located just few blocks from my place and now I am hooked. The biggest plus is the prices, they are fair and don't charge you an arm and a leg for a basic massage. They have so many options to choose from and for the most part you can walk-in as well. I practice making an appointment simply to make my life easier. I was highly disappointed when I entered this establishment. They say don't judge a book by it's cover, so I stayed. When we got there, there were 2 people working and they each had clients. We had booked an appointment prior to coming and we still had to wait 20 mins. The communication was a huge barrier and I couldn't communicate as to what I wanted. I wanted to use their restroom before the service and they ran out of toilet paper and it took so long for me to communicate that. If that doesn't set the tone for where this is going.. idk what will. Next thing that put me off was they asked us to pay before the service. I have had massages several times and several different places and was never asked to pay before my service. The massage was mediocre. I was practically on my phone waiting for time to pass. As I look up, the person working on me had pulled his mask off. Which was uncomfortable. The pressure was so light, it was almost ticklish. I also added foot scrub which ended up being leg scrub and the amount of pressure that was used then left like my skin would just fall off. It would have been great if the scrub pressure was used during the massage and vice versa. The crazy part about their customer service was that they saw me on my phone and obviously not relaxed and there was no change made- not in the pressure, not with the mask being off, not with anything else. It would have been nice if they asked. I wasn't about to explain myself when my friend was getting a massage done as well with a curtain in the middle. I didn't wanna ruin her experience. I went back. I was having horrible headaches and my right side was super still. Spent the week at ComicCon. I needed a good 90 minute massage. Upfront here. I dropped a star from my last visit because I felt guilted into increasing my 20% tip to 30%. I would have no problem tipping more as I felt so much better after 90 minutes and my 2 day headache disappeared. My tight right side and left sciatic nerve felt less painful. So I'm not familiar in massage tipping. Most places have a sign up requesting a specific amount of tip based on the length of time of your massage. This place didn't have that. So I assume 20% is good. Handed him a $10 tip for a $50 massage and I get the disappointed look and him saying...it was a 90 minute massage. So I added another $5. He still was not happy or grateful. Just shook his head. Like seriously...tell me what is the correct and proper tip for a good 90 minute massage. Maybe $20...he did do a great job. I was looking forward to returning next week. But now I am hesitant because although I have no problem tipping, I don't like being around people whom I upset when I'm there to relax and feel better. Great massage for my husband and I. I had a guy and he had a lady. They were professional, the spa was clean and we were treated well. They did ask us if we wanted to get a longer massage when we checked in but fair play to them...everyone needs to make money and maybe they just thought we would enjoy that one more. My friend and I spent a whole day on our feet for an event, and afterwards, we decided that we would reward ourselves with a massage. We searched for nearby places on Yelp, and found Joy Foot Spa. We called for their last possible appointment. They're located on the upper floor of a plaza on La Cienega, and honestly, at that time of night, we just felt out of place because all other businesses nearby were closed, and the streets were fairly empty. But my feet and back were killing me, so it didn't REALLY register with me at that point... They have a row of massage tables separated by curtains. The water for the feet soak was hot just the way I like it. The whole massage was so relaxing and I loved every minute of it... until a lady came in halfway into my massage, and started moaning loudly on the table next to me. I didn't think it was okay for me to start giggling, but it was awfully distracting. At this price point, I can't expect private rooms that will block out others' moaning, but hey, I was loving my experience up until that point, and CLEARLY, the lady next to me was loving hers as well. read more

I thought she did a great job and relieved the tension in my forehead, upper back/shoulder and foot. I had just gotten a Thai massage right before going to Joy because I didn't feel the 1st massage did anything for me. I just got on yelp and that's how I found Joy Foot. It's perfect for getting tensions out after standing all day or long running workouts. I forgot to ask the masseuse's name. The Masseuses at Joy Foot spa aren't fluent in English (but Mandarin) so there is a slight language barrier. Parking is available. They accept credit card without an issue. Then when I'm ready to pay I only wanted to tip 5 bucks and she was telling me that it should be 10 bucks tip. Don't go here! My husband, sister and I made a reservation all together at 6pm. My sister and I went back, the massage was very noisy, our therapist were talking to each other the entire time, and would leave for minutes on several occasions. During the massage, the therapist belched in my sisters face, which I cannot begin to describe how disgusting that was. At the end, we found out that they didn't take my husband back at the reserved time so my sister and I had to wait for 40 minutes until my husband massage was over. At the end we still tipped $10 each as a courtesy, and were asked if we could please tip more. When we informed we felt that was more than sufficient, they laughed at us and asked again for more tip. This is up to a 4.5 star affair... It's not the best Asian reflexology establishment I've been to, but it's up there. Being married to a Taiwanese female I've been to countless places, including those in Taipei city. My therapist had pretty good strength but not quite the hands that beat you into the ground. I'm a DEEP tissue massage lover so I enjoy a little pain with my massage. That being said, I left super relaxed and all my kinks and knots post-golfing seemed to be "gonzo". Oftentimes I'll request a male therapist since it gives you a better shot at getting someone with very strong hands. The place looks clean and is well laid out. They offer a restroom inside their suite. They use drapes to separate you from those next to you. At some of these places they speak very little English so it can be slightly challenging to communicate your needs but that was not the case here. read more

Also, the temperature in their business was not cool. It felt a bit uncomfortable but I managed to relax until he let me know service was finished after 60 minutes. I double checked my phone and counted the amount of time from the moment my feet hit the bucket of water to when he finished and it was 60 minutes, not 90 for what I paid for.
