The masseuse was friendly, but I felt that the massage was average. Definitely on the cheaper side, so you get what you pay for. I'm giving a low rating because I felt pressured by the receptionist to add more tip. I was going to give the standard 15% tip for a service I deemed just average, and she insisted I pay the suggested tipping of at least 35%. I have been having excruciating lower back pain for about a month. My doctor told me to get a massage and I found this place! The inside is very relaxing and calm. The lights are dimmed and they're playing calming music. The woman at the front desk was very sweet and made sure that my parking was taken care of. (you need to do street parking, since there is no parking lot. She made sure that the meter did not run out.) I told my masseuse to focus on my lower back, which she did. I was nervous for the Thai portion of the massage since it was my first time, but she was amazing. She was very respectful and found every point of pain in my body. I will definitely be coming back here. They expect a high tip, but since the massage is already more affordable than other places in the area, and masseuses are very talented, it is worth it. I used to love going here. For the most part, the masseuses are good. However, I felt it was quite unprofessional when I was verbally asked to increase my tip at checkout. It made me feel very uncomfortable. I was already offering a 15% tip, which I don't think is rude nor disrespectful nor unreasonable. But the receptionist asked me to consider tipping more while pointing to a "tip guide" they had on their desk. I ended up increasing my tip to her asking price - 30% (double!!) to avoid any negative altercations, but it definitely left me feeling uneasy. Tipping should be optional and based on personal choice, not something clients feel pressured into. It took away from what was otherwise a positive service. Unfortunately, I feel I was refused service because the front desk staff did not think I was tipping enough. I have been a regular customer and always tip 20%, sometimes more if I am really happy with the session. On two recent visits, I was asked to increase my tip -- something I found inappropriate. The first time, I agreed, but the second time I politely explained that 20% is a fair gratuity. Since then, when I call, my number seems to be recognized, and I am either ignored or told there are no appointments available. The price for the massage and what you get is around 4-4.5 stars but this place is lucky I didn't drop them down to 1 star for how I was rudely accosted for not tipping more than 20 percent. I have been here twice now. The first time, I was very happy with my deep tissue massage. I believe I got Amy and she was STRONG. I loved that she really made it a deep tissue massage, like I was bruised in some parts but that's the way I like it. :) The next month, I excitedly brought my partner back and we both requested the deep tissue massage. This time, I got another woman. She didn't ask about which massage I wanted nor about her pressure and she for sure just gave me the basic massage. She was older so I decided not to make a stink about it since it was just a $10 difference in price. What I didn't like though, was the forced tipping choices at the time of payment. It STARTS at 35%! So with paying more for a massage I didn't get AND the forced exorbitant tip, I left feeling extorted and with a bad taste in my mouth for this place. I won't be going back. I hate to post negative reviews on what looks like an immigrant own, female owned business but I am hoping this review makes them rethink their business practices. The high forced tipping is insulting and the inconsistency in service isn't good for customer retention. I am a respectful customer who always tips around 25% but when you take advantage of your customers, it's just not going to be good for you long term. This is a no frills Thai spa. They have no facilities, just massage rooms, but they get it right. It's always clean, and the massage is always affective. I honestly don't know why I ever go anywhere else. I've been coming here randomly for about 5 years and am always satisfied with the service. My aunt (a seasoned massage getter) and myself (a novice massage getter) both couldn't believe the skill we witnessed. It was a pleasurable experience and I'll definitely be back. So I've been calling since yesterday to book an appointment but either there's no answer or I can't contact them. I tried to call again this morning they're already open but it seems that my number is blocked or they cancel my call. I TRIED TO CALL USING A DIFFERENT NUMBER AND THEY ANSWERED IMMEDIATELY. So i found out that they knew my number. I once canceled my appointment to them and then they remembered my number and so whenever I call them they either not answer it or they cancel my call. The prices have already increased by 36-38% over the last 3 years, it's the establishment responsibility to set their wages accordingly too, not the customer. I went to the tranquility body spa today. I thought my appointment was at 1 but it was at 12 but they still accepted me and gave me the full hour massage even though I was late without a late fee. The massage was great! I got the deep tissue massage and she really focused on my shoulders because I had a lot of pain in there. I think it's worth it for the price! They also speak really low so it's gives off ASMR vibes so it's really relaxing! Will definitely come back again :) read more

A few friends recommended my wife and me this spa. We'd been going sometimes in groups, sometimes just the two of us. For about a year, everything was great. One day when making an appointment, the receptionist (recognizing my wife's voice) asked, "Who else is coming to the spa with you?" When she told her it was just the two of us, she put us on hold, came back, and said "That's okay, then." My wife asked why that even mattered. The receptionist said that the masseuses thinks a particular friend of ours doesn't tip enough money, so they didn't want to serve him anymore. This, of course, caused turmoil within our group. How do you confront a friend for potentially being a cheap tipper and not have it come across as awkward? When we told our "bad tipping" friend what the receptionist accused him of, he was shocked and said he tipped 20-25% each time. Then he showed us receipts. To be clear, tipping is an OPTION. Not a requirement. The fact that 25% on a $100 massage so enraged the staff here that they essentially banned one of us is unprofessional. They look like cowards. If they weren't, they'd take that energy, come together and direct it toward the seemingly low-paying owner of the establishment. Instead, they decided to ban customers who have nothing to do with them getting shafted by their boss -- because they believe a 25% tip is too little. You guys just lost seven loyal customers. Word's already spreading. Avoid them like the plague. They aren't THAT good. read more

Ended up paying $95 and added only $10 in tip for what I percieved as their dishonesty. -Masseur was accommodating, but definitely did not know pressure points and definitely did not apply enough pressure. My husband and I booked massages here on a whim. We found street parking up front and didn't have to pay the meter since it was a Sunday. We originally thought we could park in the lot next door but learned that the lot is for tenants only. Don't park there or you'll be towed! The space has probably seen better days so don't come here for the ambiance. Come for the reasonable prices and the service. I opted for an hour hot stone massage ($65) and my husband had the combo massage (deep tissue and Thai) ($55). The massage room was clean and the massage was great! The masseuse checked in with me on the pressure throughout the service and was very professional. My husband also enjoyed his combo massage. We paid for our massages and tips with a credit card. The amount we tipped was more than what the signs requested for tips (they're posted everywhere) but it's kind of a turnoff to be policed about it. Not a fan of that. They require 30% tip regardless of how you felt about the massage. My therapist was sweet, but not the best from my experience. I had to ask her to be gentle a few times since it was painful. My neck and back were sore for a few days after I received massage, so if you want that kind of massage, this is the right place for you. Also, footsteps from second floor was pretty noisy.. so if you're looking for total relaxation, go elsewhere. I paid by credit card but offered to tip by cash. Receptionist lady was happy about that but when I gave her 20% tip, she paused and obviously was in bad mood. Then she said "can you pay more?" I was like.. I gave you 20% though? And she was like "most of the ppl pay more here. " so I asked her how much I should pay. She said $4 more. I felt bad I didn't know their on-going rates but she gave me the attitude for just $4 more? Without even asking how my experience was? I prefer "$100 for massage and no tip necessary" to avoid this type of confusing convo. I got a two hour massage and tipped %20 which she was extremely unhappy about and tried to shame me and asked me repeatedly why I wouldn't tip more?? Simply charge more if you want more. A tip is a tip. You can't force people to tip %40. Great little massage place right in Culver City. I did the Combination (Swedish and Thai), one hour for $50. They walk on top of you and climb on you. The front lobby is a little warm but the actual massage rooms are air conditioned. There is no parking- only street parking. The rooms don't have doors, only curtains, so I could hear a man grunting in the next room over, but once the A/C kicked in, it drowned out the noise. There was a little bit of a language barrier.
