I always ask for a female masseur after having a couple of uncomfortable experiences with male masseurs at other establishments. The female masseur at Joy Foot Spa was nice but she didn't massage hard enough. I told her to go harder several times and did not find the strength to be adequate. She said that in the future, I would need to have a man massage me because they had stronger hands. I have found that female masseurs at BAO and Cha Spa are strong enough for my taste and don't think it's a gender issue. If you don't like hard massages, this place might be good for you but don't drink the water because it does not taste filtered. Beware pay attention to the price list when you go in because when I was done with my massage and came out they brought out another listing $5 more so foot reflexology was $25 when I came in and $30 when I left. I was already thinking to tip him$14 because he was good but when I saw that I just did the $10. I enjoyed a wonderful full body massage for only $35 plus tip. There was absolutely no pressure to upcharge. They played relaxing music. I had a skilled gentleman by the name of Wan who maintained the same level of intensity/pressure the entire time. The massage tables are comfortable and easy to relax on. The restroom was clean. Next time I plan on experiencing the $55 90 minute full body now that I know it's worth it. If you're in Beverly Hills and stressed out by all the materialism and image chasing going on around you; this is a great place to decompress and relax. If you get the LAST TABLE, you don't get a proper foot massage as you think you are paying for. Their excuse is The table is different. You still pay the same price. Pet peeve is the people that walk in while your getting a massage that speak at full volume. It's a small room, with only a thin curtain between tables. If you're walking in, be courteous, whisper, or just stfu. $25 dollars for an hour massage, $40 for a 90 Minute massage. You can get a punch card with each massage earning a free one. My back is in a worse condition than it was before I received the massage. She complained twice when I asked her to focus on my shoulders and avoid certain areas I didn't want massaged. Step 1: Accept it and call Jeff or his wife to set an appointment. Step 2: Acknowledge that you are powerless to the healing hands of Tony. He will fix every problem in your skeleton. That is a certainty. Step 3: Surrender to the calm zen of soft dim lighting with pretty new jacquard chairs. Feel rest assured that it is immaculate, not shady, and no one is rude. Step 4: Become aware that your musculature is jacked up, but after 30 minutes face-up, 30-min face-down, and a little yogic stretching, all will be good. All will be great. Step 5: Feel compassion for the other Yelp reviewers who don't quite understand that Chinese massages are: 1) not in private rooms, 2) deep, deep, deep, and 3) with clothes on. They are legit and exactly what one would/should expect from a from a foot spa. Step 6: Stop writing this ridiculous yelp review and start with Step 1. Silliness aside, I LOVE Joy Foot Spa. I was in dire need of a massage after the long weekend that I had so I called this place during lunch on a Monday and got an appt for 5:45pm. I love that this place is on my way home; so convenient! I also love that the building has its own parking garage so no need to find street parking. Big plus for me! The place has about 8 massage chairs in an open room that's very dimly lit. They have relaxing instrumental music playing in the background. It's def a no frills type of place. But it had the 2 things that are most important to me: 1. Quality massage 2. Clean When I got here, they only had one other customer, so the place was extremely quiet, which was perfect. I was lucky to get Kevin, who noticed all the knots on my neck, shoulder, and upper back and spent a good amount of time working on those areas. His foot massage was probably one of the best I've ever had and I've been to at least 10 different foot massage places all over Socal. Ladies, they do massage your head and your face here, so if you're wearing makeup and you have somewhere to be afterwards, you will probably need to touch-up your makeup after the massage. 3-stars for A-OK. My spouse and I came here for foot massages, and we both had A-OK experiences. We live in the city of San Gabriel, where it feels like there's a Chinese foot massage place on every block, so perhaps we are spoiled. A few years ago, I might have described my experience here at Joy Foot Spa as 4-stars, but nowadays, I guess I am just used to much better massages from the selection in SGV. The other shops we go to in San Gabriel area provide an hour-long full-body massage on a legit massage table in a private or semi-private room for $25-30, and the masseurs / masseuses are better about finding the right level of pressure that you want, and just seem to be a little more developed in their profession. As with all Chinese massage places, the "low-ball" tip minimum is $5 for a basic 1 hour foot massage, but they usually want $10. My experience here was OK, but I can't see myself coming back. read more

I am not one to normally be sensitive about this, but I know for a fact that this was completely unprofessional and unacceptable by any standards. Wow! This place is awesome! It's a simple place - no frills ambiance, but the value is great. Currently, they do walk ins. The people who work here are a really nice and humble Chinese family who know how to massage really well. I had knots from working out a lot and the person who was my masseuse knew how to use just the right amount of force to get the knots out. I felt like it was just as good, if not better than most other expensive places. And this place is just totally reasonable! Since a bad car accident more than 10 years ago, my back has been a mess. I've got a torn disc in my lower back that flares up about once a year. And when that happens, oh Sweet Baby Jesus. The pain. THE PAIN. This was the week that my back decided to catch on fire. Lower back went out and there was a huge knot under my shoulder blade. Standing hurts. Sitting hurts. Standing up or sitting down? IT ALL HURTS. I found Joy Foot Spa on Yelp. The reviews looked good, they're close and you can't beat $25 for 1 hour. My masseuse, Danny, started the neck/shoulder + foot massage. But I really needed more than that. I talked to the owner? manager? about adding some extra time for my back. He is a saint. For an extra $10, we agreed to less time on my feet and add some time for my back. I swear to God, it was one of the best massages I've ever had in my life. And I've been to Burke Williams, had Thai massage in Thailand. Even got a gift certificate once for the spa at the Grand Wailea when I lived in Maui This was better than all of that. They have a menu of different services. If you need a really good massage, spend a little extra and get the 1 hour full body massage. I think it's $45? However, if you're on a budget, and can only spend the $25, do it. It will blow you away how good it is. Just keep in mind, you're not in a private room. The way these places keep the cost down is that they have massage beds set up next to each other in one room. But they keep it dark, play very soothing music and speak in hushed tones. If you close your eyes and relax, you won't even realize there are other people in the room with you. You could spend $125-$150 for a 1 hour private massage. OR, you could come here and get 3 or 4 massages for the same price. read more

I'm somewhat of a foot massage connoisseur, which is a weird thing to say. I've tried lots of places in SF that are more expensive and not as nice as this place. We just saw a flyer on our car advertising it and took a chance. It's clean! They're so nice and the room is relaxing. I've never fallen asleep with a foot massage before and I did with this one. The only negative is that I didn't like the few minutes of face massage, but the scalp massage was great too. Parking was so easy because it's in a garage. Just left the place. I've gotta say, I've had a lot of foot massages and this by far exceeds expectations. The guy that worked on me gave the right amount of pressure. Usually foot massages hurt my feet, but this was great. I have a sprained ankle, he was able to massage it just right and actually think he made it better! My back has a million golf ball knots in them and I felt them loosen up significantly. Highly recommended. I got the $25 package which is 40 min foot and 20 min back. This is now under new management. It's now called Joy. I met the new owner today. She took over a month ago. I'm so glad that she did. I had a one star for the previous owner. My last experience was horrible but I was desperate today and did not feel like driving to Koreatown. I'm glad that I did. There were three girls working, including the owner. Lily was great. It was $35 for a combo massage for an hour. They would still massage your entire body if you get just the regular foot reflexology but they go a bit deeper on your back when they ask you to turn over on to your tummy. I felt so relaxed and she worked out my sore spots. Definitely give the new owner a try. ------ Old review from previous owners... This is my new foot reflexology spot if I don't feel like driving to Koreatown. The guys are really strong. They don't speak too much English but that is expected at Foot Reflexology like these. I would definitely go back... and during the week at night. My friend and I had the whole place to ourselves. Plenty of parking. Always tip them more than $10. This place offers such a great deal for the service they provide! I've gone twice now and signed up for the 1-Hour foot massage both times, which ends up being 30 minutes body, 30 minutes feet. It comes out to $25 and I always feel so relaxed afterwards! The massages take place in one large room and sometimes the person massaging you is also working the front desk and will have to leave to answer the phone and deal with a customer. The massage I requested also included back shoulders and neck so I don't know why he was massaging my thighs so much. After leaving my back was sore for several days. I needed a quick and last minute body massage at 8:30PM on a Saturday night, and Joy Foot Spa which is down the street from my home was able to accommodate me last minute. I don't usually get my massages at a Foot Spa, but I was desperate that night and was willing to go anywhere! :) Surprisingly, the massage was very good! One thing I noticed about these foot spas compared to regular massage places, is that they literally massage every single part of your body (except your private areas of course). You get way more than just foot massage. It's a massage head to toe, and honestly, most of the nicer massage places don't give better massages than these foot spas! We just pay more for a private room and a nicer setting. The only thing I didn't like about this place is how small it is, and how the room in the back where the staff enter/exits is too close to our beds, and it's noisy every time they open and close the door. It would be a good idea to have some sort of cover that separates the beds from that back door area, so that the light nor their entrance/exit distracts our peace. Also the water that they brought for my feet was not as hot enough. I wish it was a little warmer. But oh well whatever, for a $25 last minute head to toe massage, I honestly enjoyed it and would totally come back again! :) read more
