I asked the price of a pedicure, was told $35. I agreed and asked for the pedicure. I asked for gel polish, the price increased to $50., I choose regular polish, the $35 ,pedicure. I told the tech doing my pedicure that I had gel polish on. She did not respond The, I'm assuming manager, was staring at my feet, speaking in her foreign language to the tech. When I checked out the charge was increased to $40. I asked why and was told because they had to remove the gel polish. This business practice is deceiving! The final result is below average. my gel nail service I received was super thick looking and after 2 days my nail color pealed off and split my nail down the center. after I came back to get it fix I wanted them removed and she said I had to pay for it. I was nervous to keep the rest of the polish on because of my nail splitting from the service. I am very disappointed in how I was treated and how they could not do better for the unhappy client . This place is gross!! They use a little bit of soap and immediately rinse it, there is no time for it to actually clean. They also use the same tools on everyone. I have only gone here a few times and I took the Polish off and my nails have fungus from their foot basin! They are very dirty and don't bother to clean anything. I now have to apply fungus treatment due to their nastiness also they are mean and talk badly about everyone! I went to Joy Nail in Trappe to get a pedicure. When I arrived for my appointment the foot tub was filled and the tools were out. The salon was getting busy and the person at the front desk was helping to get the new customers to their chair. I witness the front desk person pick up the tools from the chair next to me and take them to the new customer for her pedicure. The tools were not sterilized and cleaned between customers and the foot bath had not been sanitized. This is a very dangerous and unsanitary practice as customers could get infections. I will never go to Joy Nail again. read more

This was hands down the best pedicure experience I have ever received! I made an appointment the previous day for a spa pedicure ($30) and when I arrived for my appointment, I was immediately seated after choosing my preferred nail polish color. Everything in the nail salon was extremely clean, uncluttered, and looked up-to-date. I chose two extra services - callous remover ($7) and 10 minute foot massage ($10). The entire process took an hour (including 10-15 minutes of drying). Before the service began, I was offered a complimentary refreshment from the mini fridge. The technician was very detailed oriented, efficient, and friendly from start to finish. While drying the polish, the technician came over and gave me a 5 minute shoulder/upper back massage. They even accommodated me when I realized I didn't have a cash tip (my error!). They allowed me to put the tip on my CC. I was pretty disappointed with my last visit. I've been going here religiously for about a year for gel manicures (which they do a great job with). I recently switched to the dip powder. The last time I went the (very sweet) girl kept getting my skin with the small electric sanding tool they use to remove dip. She wasn't paying full attention half the time and repeatedly hurt me. I was left with raw skin that turned into scab for abut a week. It looked horrible and hurt whenever I washed my hands. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place for dip powder. I went here with a friend tonight and unfortunately I was not impressed. I have never been here before and I did not know that I had to select an extra $7 callous remover option to make my feet smooth, which I would have gladly paid. My callouses are thick, hence why I get monthly pedicures, and I will have to get another pedicure to be satisfied in the callous department this month. My toenails look good, for the record! There were a lot of color options and they did not pressure you to select gel/dip powder over normal nail polish. The people were nice and the place was very clean. We had a very nice experience at this salon UNTIL we were leaving. We were approached and asked for a tip, which I thought I had paid. As the technician said I had not paid this, my friend paid it. I could not locate the cash I thought I given for the tips, so came right back in to the salon to check if I had left it at her station. When I entered, I was literally accosted by the technician. I said I wanted to make sure I didn't leave the money at her station, but she was very agitated and immediately and repeatedly kept telling me I didn't tip her and pointed at the ceiling telling me there were cameras all over the place. I told her that I did not understand why she was talking to me this way. We paid her, and now most certainly tipped as well. All I was doing was making sure I hadn't left the money somewhere. I never accused her of lying about the situation, just said that I thought I had paid. I would have understood her attacking me if I had put her in a position where she needed to defend herself. She was incredibly unprofessional to me in front of a salon full of customers. It was upsetting to be treated so poorly. I will not be visiting this salon again. I know there are many others in the area that will treat you with respect throughout your visit. And as an aside, while tips may be expected and common practice, they are not required. I moved to Collegeville from Philadelphia last summer and visited every nail salon in Collegeville/Trappe trying to find the best one. I get my nails done religiously every two weeks so this was an important decision for me. There are a lot of OK nail salons in this area but Joy, for me, is the best. The pedicures are thorough and include a nice leg massage with oil and hot stones and the staff is well trained in the technique for doing UV/gel/shellac nails. Every nail procedure also includes a hot stone shoulder massage. To address other reviews, the women do talk among themselves but I've never found it to be rude or got the impression they were speaking about customers. read more
