Probably the only buffet that I actually enjoy their sushi selection! It was so fresh and delicious. My boyfriend and I went here for Thanksgiving buffet and it got tons of seafoods. I loved it! They've also got hibachi and pho station. I can't wait to come back soon!

I chose to take a picture of the beautiful Koi fish rather than add a picture of food. My very last experience here at this location was because my partner and I were walking around the dining room and we saw a human fecal turd on the ground. I have never been back to this establishment since.

We came back for their seafood weekend dinner buffet. 29.99, doesn't matter if you choose to eat the seafood or not, the price is fixed. The seafood was...mediocre. Crab legs had very little meat, and was salty. Sushi wasn't really all that fresh. It was slightly discolored and very fishy. The crab legs had crabbill on them, which aren't dangerous--but off putting to have a leech eggs. Food was typical buffet. Oily, sweet. Flies were around the habachi area. I think this was probably our last visit.

My son demolished these corn on the cobs never seen him eat like that!

I thought this place was great. Very clean, no only gross food sitting around, and a great wait staff! They have a little bit of everything. Chinese, sushi, some American food like pizza. Great fruit selection! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. My picky young children even found a ton of stuff they liked.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the space was charming, with a Japanese cooking show playing on a wall mounted tv, nice music playing in the space, and eclectic decor throughout. Everything was also very clean and organized, and I appreciated the amazing prices for the food! The quality is on par with other Japanese restaurants I have been to, which often charge more even for their lunch special. I'll absolutely be returning to Sam's in the future to try more of their food!

I would like to be very honest here, I was really misled by the ratings and reviews here on Yelp…read more While I thought the decor was really nice, added a cute Korean and Japanese touch, the food did let me down. We got the Yummy Combo with Garden Salad ($17), the Mango Tango Roll ($14), and the Sakura Blossom Roll ($14). The service was fast, and our server was very sweet and caring. To begin with, even though the sushi looked colorful and appealing, it lacked taste. It was missing seasoning, felt stale, and had almost zero freshness. It reminded me of the premade sushi you get at PanAsia, Target, or Sam's Club. Freshness is a huge factor for me when I go out for sushi, but this just didn't have it. The rice was dry by the time it reached our table, and it wasn't sticky enough. It felt like the cold rice was microwaved and then used to make sushi - that's the feeling I got. I also didn't think it was worth the money. We spent over $50 + after tax and tip for three rolls, which is similar to what many other sushi restaurants charge, but those places serve much fresher and better quality sushi - Sushi Uni in Lenexa. The garden salad dressing was also a complete disappointment. It had no distinct ginger flavor or even enough seasoning. It was very thick and heavily spread over the salad, which made it unpleasant to look at and eat. Overall, the service was excellent, but the food didn't live up to the ratings or the price. The three stars are for the lovely server, the beautiful decor, and the well presented sushi. I really hope they improve the freshness because, based on the older reviews, they seem to have the potential to serve much better sushi. If they do, I will be the first one to definitely come back to try more of their beautiful looking rolls.

My water glass was never empty. Soup is the standard miso soup and is par for the course. Nothing sensational, the flavor was as it should be, so I'm happy with it. Sashimi Medley - Tuna, kanpachi (amberjack), salmon, madai (red snapper), hirame (flounder), toro (fatty tuna), and shima aji (striped jack). Everything is tasty and would be competitive against Sacramento sushi joints. 5041 - crabstick, avocado, and cream cheese wrapped in soy paper, draped with tuna and salmon drizzled with unagi sauce and wasabi mayo. This was a surprise. I think the soy paper and wasabi mayo threw me off! I asked for the recommended roll that was not too spicy, so the server asked if I was okay with cream cheese, and this was the recommendation. This was fresh and the flavors hit for something different that I have not had before. It was yummy, but different than my usual savory. Tempura fried ice cream. It's an extra large scoop of vanilla ice cream dipped in tempura and then deep fried and decorated with chocolate drizzle, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! Very yummy and a splendid ending to a japanese meal. This is going onto my Kansas City list of places to eat. Especially if I am craving sushi!!

Then we sat down at the teppanyaki table, and things went south faster than a dropped egg. Our server was solid, but the "chef" was a total trainwreck. It felt like we were an inconvenience to his schedule. He just rushed through the motions with zero engagement, like he was checking off a grocery list instead of actually cooking for people. The "Highlights" (and I use that term loosely): The Timing: I ordered the steak and scallops. He finished my steak before the rice even hit the grill. My cow just sat there getting cold while we watched him "work." The Culinary Wisdom: When one of us asked if the beef was a strip or a ribeye, he literally just said, "It's steak." Cool. Glad we cleared that up. The Cross-Contamination Special: We had a vegetarian in the group. He proceeded to cook her tofu directly in the steak juice. Truly a "chef's kiss" moment if you hate your customers. The Doneness (or lack thereof): The salmon was basically still swimming (raw), and the scallops were charred and tasted like fire and brimstone. The Mussels: I grabbed a side of green mussels. They were... fine? I've had much better elsewhere in town, but they were the Olympic gold medalists of my meal by default. The Silver Lining? The Sake. It came in a take-home glass, was incredibly easy to drink, and was 100% necessary to get through the rest of the experience. I can't speak for the sushi, but if it's handled with the same "I don't want to be here" energy as the teppanyaki, I'd stay far, far away. Two stars only because the hostess was nice and the Sake did its job.
