Welcome to the best and cheapest high quality buffet in town!! Especially in this economy, it's hard to find a place with so much food and variety for this price. I went for an early dinner around 5 pm and saw that the buffet was fully stocked with options for everyone. They mainly focus on Chinese and Mexican food items and have more than 20+ dishes ranging from Chinese + kids appetizers, all sorts of noodles - lomein to Mei fun, Beef - Chicken - Pork - Shrimp stirfries/main courses, amazing variety of Mexican food ranging from pork and chicken in red sauce, Mexican pasta, rice, fried plantains etc along with 6 types of soups ranging from egg drop to Mexican spicy shrimp soup to chicken n noodle soup - emmmm you name it. Sooooo all this for $14.95 is a steal. Honestly, what surprised me was the taste because usually buffets focus on quantity and not quality - these had a great flavor, were fresh ,full of seasoning and were refilled regularly. The desert section also had decent variety ranging from jellies, fresh fruits to small pastry cakes. Overall, getting this huge selection for that price when you can get barely get 2 burgers at Culver's for $15 or one at five guys ($10 double patty burger) is an incredible deal. Otherwise service was good, servers were friendly and did clean the plates as soon as you finished so that the tables remained clean. The restaurant was kept clean and there was a lot of place to sit even though the restaurant was full at 5 pm. Cheers to great experience without spending a fortune - I will be back for more. Visited on a Wednesday night and there were hardly anybody there. They had what I would say was a smaller selection than most but some differences as well. They had combo chicken, beef, shrimp fried rice which you never see at a buffet and they also had a Mexican section with Mexican rice and taquitos and whatnot. They have single serve ice cream cups in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry which is better compared to self scooping in my opinion. The staff was nice and everything was clean. Prices weren't bad, you can pay for a to-go box if you don't want to stay and load it up as much as you'd like. Not my favorite but it's not the worst I've been too! read more

Good value Chinese lunch buffet with a few twists! Located by Ollie's, this gem is great for the weekly lunch crowd with 4-5 buffet stations setup with great options. It's a pretty bland atmosphere, but they have 3 different seating areas in a large room that splits it up nicely. Service is ample and they constantly refill your waters and remove dishes, which is smart. We will be back again and take some pictures, this time we ate like wolves! read more

I was back in town for another soccer tournament and had to come back and try this place again. It did not disappoint. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but that's deceptive. They actually have a lot of seating, and they keep the place clean and tidy. If you're looking for a greasy spoon, this isn't it. They seem to care about making sure the food actually tastes good. You can see the quality of the ingredients used here, and food tastes delicious. I've been to A LOT of Chinese buffets and this is one of the best in terms of cleanliness, taste, and service. I got a few more photos of the food this time. I made sure to take them before I started eating. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you haven't tried it, you really should. They have a good variety, including both mild and spicy dishes, and some seafood. I wanted to keep eating but eventually I got too full. I tried it for lunch for the first time on 11/3/25. I've been missing a good Chinese buffet for so long. This one was good! However I had to take off one star because every single thing on the buffet needed to be hotter. I tried quite a few things and they were all barely warm enough to be called warm. But I will go again. I needed a knife (not provided by default) but couldn't find one. Those need to be put out in a prominent place for those needing them. One word of warning: one of my favorites was the jalapeño chicken, but they use fresh jalapeños with the seeds - choose your bites carefully if you aren't accustomed to very spicy food! read more

It was starting to get busy when we arrived Saturday pre-lunch hour. We were greeted and seated very quickly, chose our drink preferences and headed to see what we had to choose from. There were many options of soup. I headed for Egg Drop but decided for Pork Meatball instead. The Hot & Sour looked great too. There was also Menudo and one or two others. The Pork Meatball soup was tasty. It was a light broth with basically the little meatballs you'd have inside a pork dumpling. The seasoning/herbs were perfect. Next I headed to the appetizer bar to grab a few items to try, such as an egg roll, crab rangoon, a chicken wing and a fried cheese stick. I grabbed some sweet & sour and hot mustard (which really packed a punch!). I was pleased with all of the items I selected. The wonton wrapper on the crab rangoon is a little on the thick side, but not in a bad way. The fried cheese was not much to be excited about, but it was fine. The chicken wing was pretty mild, but I liked it better than some that have too much ginger for my taste. The egg roll was good too. Next, I went to get some rice and vermicelli noodles and some of the entree options. I had a couple bites of several since there were a lot of options: General Tsos chicken, Honey Sesame chicken, Jalepeno chicken, Broccoli Beef, Slided Pork w/ Pepper. I chose the fried rice and a little bit of the chicken flavored vermicelli. A few of the options were a little spicy, which I'm not surprised by, but something to keep in mind. My person preference would have been Sesame chicken without the honey, but again, just my preference. Last, I went to explore the seafood options. They had a few shrimp dishes that I was interested in, but opted to only try two because I was getting full and one was peel and eat and I just wasn't in the mood for that. The shrimp were fine, nothing great, but nothing bad. I also grabbed a chicken skewer that I'd forgotten to try when I hit appetizers. The chicken skewer flavor and moistness was good, but concerningly not warm. I don't know if they were set out cold to warm on the table or the table wasn't keeping them warm. Last stop was the Variety Bar, which had fruit, desserts, etc. I grabbed a few pieces of fresh pinepple and two big slices of watermelon, which ended up being some of the best watermelon I've ever eaten. I know they don't make the watermelon, but it was still super fresh and juicy and sliced in a way that made it very easy to handle, etc. We had attentive servers who were fast to clear dishes and fill drinks. They were friendly and not intrusive. Overall we had a good meal, despite a couple of things that weren't perfect. I didn't get around to trying any of the more hispanic-style offerings they had as selections. It's not a huge place, but in my opinion, it's a good amount of selections without being overwhelming and probably allows for good turnover of the food items. read more

Pretty dim selection of buffet type "Chinese" dishes and a selection of various pork and bone in meat in Mexican red sauce, green sauce, etc. Mostly sad and lacking in flavor- see the "Mexican spaghetti" dish which appeared to be a pile of buttered spaghetti noodles with a wee bit of Parmesan on top. It was over $15 which isn't a good price for the lack of selection. No one spoke much English there. No idea who my server was as I never got my water refilled. The ice creams were all dirtied with frozen ice cream leaked from elsewhere which was really unappealing even after I dusted off all the frost crystals. Great spot right by the mall. The interior is much bigger than it looks like from the storefront with plenty of seating inside for couples, families and groups. The service was awesome with everyone working together to clear plates, fill drinks, buss tables and checkout. If you ask they will make a custom dish to add to the buffet at no extra charge! For $10.95 weekday lunch you'll find good variety, small fresh portions refreshed often and a pleasant clean atmosphere. This is one of those 'You get what you pay for' situations. The buffet is only $16, but it is also very small with a tiny selection and decent but not spectacular food quality. It would make a pretty good lunch stop, I guess. But this is the dictionary definition of 'meh'. It's not bad, but there's nothing here worth going back for other than the price. The crab rangoon was mostly bread, hardly any filling. The potstickers were doughy and chewy. No sushi, no items that make you stand up and say 'ooh, they've got that'. For a typical buffet, this is a good buffet to go to. The prices for their lunch and dinner are VERY reasonable and there is so much food that they offer! The service is great, and the staff was very attentive to us each time we've dined here! Again, this is a buffet, so the quality of the food is like any other buffet that you'd go to. This is a much liked, well known buffet in the heart of Overland Park. Great food, excellent service, and a fairly decent price for an All-You-Can-Eat Chinese restaurant. There was even a very popular movie playing on the tv set, kinda like being at home! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that really enjoys Chinese food or whom loves a variety of delicious foods. The buffet was very well setup & the food was close to as fresh as you can expect. Everything seemed at good high temps. The reason I couldn't give a 5 star was only for the one flaw of the plates. As we had walked up to the bar and reached for a plate we noticed one was not cleaned properly. As the single downside alone it didn't seem worth the complaint. Just please do be aware at any restaurant. I'm certainly planning on going back again in my nearest Chinese-food-craving future. This is an exceptional place for a more unique buffet experience. This new restaurant featured a buffet, with menu items available for takeout. My lunch buffet ($10.95 lunch M-Sa, $13.95 dinner and Sunday, with lower prices for kids) included access to the three buffet islands, which offered eight classic Chinese entrees (including chicken, beef and shrimp dishes), drumsticks, fries, rice, soups, fresh veggies, fresh fruits and desserts. Every item I tried at the buffet was nicely flavored and perfectly cooked except for the chicken on a stick, which was overcooked and dry. The drumsticks were especially good, and the fried rice was tasty and moist. I was disappointed to see that there were no labels above food items because they would have been helpful. I liked the spacious seating areas with booths and tables in three divided areas, background music and music videos playing on TV. The service was mixed, with friendly beverage and plate removal service at the table, but no plates being removed during my meal. It was also unusual not to receive a bill at the table. Instead, you pay at the front counter when ready and receive a receipt (upon request) that hasn't been itemized. I'm not sure how many people can give 5 stars to this restaurant. They weren't bad, but certainly not the best. At $13.75 for dinner, it's a good value. The cost for a Modelo was $3.95 which is very good. Service was good. They kept the table clean after I finished eating. There only seemed to be around 4 steam tables. The eggrolls were like the ones you can buy at a supermarket. They had shrimp with vegetables which was good using medium shrimp. They also had spicy shrimp which used small shrimp. For salads they had iceberg lettuce. No peel and eat shrimp. They had fried rice as well as fried rice with shrimp & beef. They did have a lightly fried/seasoned hot shrimp in the shell which you could peel yourself. Too messy for me. Also had crawfish. The quality was good, but the variety was low. Nice little Chinese buffet. Food is top Notch as far as Chinese buffets go. Wait staff is friendly. But sometimes you have to refill your own pop. The ice cream is in little containers. Rather then served to you. I would recommend they label some things gluten free. That would give them a step up for celiacs and other people that can't have gluten. Also, there is no salad bar, that's my only biggest complaint. But the crab ragoons, chicken, lo mein jello, shrimp, spicy beef, meat sticks, and everything else is truly delicious! Very unassuming from the outside and maybe even once you walk in. However, you're going to be in for a treat when you take your first bite!!! I will say KC area Chinese Buffets are all 3star maybe a few 4 star but they lack flavor in some dishes. Maybe it us because they try to many things? Nevertheless Dragon Empire Chinese Buffet has some magic happening here. Now the buffet is not huge but what is on it is packed full of flavor! I think 5 star flavors for hot sour soup, egg drop soup, menudo (yes that's right menudo), coconut shrimp, fried dumplings, black pepper pork, and jalapeño chicken. Their pineapple on the dessert bar was amazing too. I wish I had more room to try more food but all was above average. I liked the egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and Mei Fun noodles but not 5 star. Service was great and clean. You will want to add this to your adventures soon. I hope that this place keeps the flavor and quality it will soon be everyone's secret place. read more

I've kinda, sorta had my eye on this place the past several months awaiting open doors. I recently noticed it finally happened so I decided to swoop in at the start of the day. I did this intentionally just KNOWING the food would HAVE to be hot and fresh. What an unpleasant surprise. The buffet looked appetizing, but stiff. I say this because while the food looked alright, it appeared cold, as if it was re-heated or thawing out, but not completely hot/ready. Sadly, my assumption/hunch was correct. Although I made sure I 'stirred each warmer that I chose food from' before placing it on my place, to no avail. The food was cold. The burners were either broken or not turned on in time for the early customers. This was very disheartening as the meal could've really been good had it been hot. I'm only sharing this in honesty and in hopes that the staff will correct this. On a happier note, the restaurant was nice and clean and the restroom was impressively tidy. The waitress was as sweet as bear meat (real sweet) and so attentive. I must give them that. A bit of advice/criticism though (I really am coming from a good place)... Serve hot food ma'am or sir, keep your kind employees and watch your business grow/customers overflow. read more

We really had a lower expectation for a Chinese Buffet Restaurant run by Mexican staffs, but those whole dishes were much more tasty & decent than other buffet restaurants at other areas. Visited for our second time and it was absolutely fantastic! First off, the staff is so friendly, refill your water constantly, bus your table quickly, and just do a great job. I tried most of the major staples, and I had zero complaints! Everything was fresh and hot. We were all stuffed and loved everything we got. Some additional dessert options would make it perfect, but they do offer single serve ice cream and a handful of other options, so they do have a decent amount. Nice sized buffet with lots of your typical options but also some unique options as well. Great general szo chicken, cashew chicken, seasame chicken, egg rolls, spring rolls and crab Rangoon. 4-5 soups to choose from, 3-4 shrimp dishes. Crawfish, pigs feet, several fish options. Also several Mexican dishes and even chicken nuggets, fries, mozzarella sticks. Desert bar could be a little better. They do have ice cream but too full to try. A lot of times a restaurant will excel at one thing and lack in another so it's hard to find somewhere where you'll like everything they have to offer. This place definitely hits the mark on all of the items I tried. Small and unassuming, this place is totally my new lunch spot. For roughly $11 I have access to a constantly restocked buffet with a good amount of options. The staff is very attentive as well, offering drink refills often and making sure the used plates don't stack to high on the end of the table. As for flavor, think back to the 2000s when you could go into any number of Chinese buffets in the area and it was good. Seriously, solid all around.
