Hot mess roll, dynamite roll, crunchy crab roll, cowboy roll

I don't hand out lower ratings lightly, but I have little patience for murky business practices, and unfortunately, that's where this experience stumbles. The setup strongly implies that beverages are included in the $35 all you can eat price. Everything is ordered via tablet except soft drinks-fancy drinks yes but not the normal drinks-, which you request from a server. Nowhere is it made clear that those sodas quietly tack on an additional $3.50 each. Had it been transparent, I would have paid without a second thought. But the omission feels deliberate, and that kind of sleight of hand casts an unnecessary shadow over the entire experience. There are bright spots. The robot servers are undeniably charming, a playful and memorable touch that adds to the novelty. The food itself is solid, not extraordinary. Portions are small, which works beautifully in an all you can eat format, allowing you to sample widely without waste or regret. Standouts included the squid salad and the Hot Mess roll, both genuinely delicious. The sashimi was fresh and of good quality, while the crab rangoon was perfectly average, neither offensive nor noteworthy. The fried Oreos, however, were a letdown. The tempura lacked flavor, though a scoop of ice cream did its best to salvage the dish. This is, above all, an experience driven restaurant. It is fun, interactive, and a bit different, but if you are chasing a truly exceptional meal, this is not the place. A practical note, join the waitlist before you arrive. It is still riding the wave of newness and draws a crowd, even at off peak hours. As for the process, you will order drinks through a server, then handle everything else on a tablet at your table. You can only submit an order every 10 minutes, so plan accordingly and make sure you include everything you want each time. Once you submit, you will be waiting a bit before your next round. In short, come for the novelty, enjoy the variety, and keep an eye on the fine print.

Was it top notch quality? No. But was there a ton of variety and was service superb? Oh yea. Do yourself a favor and get onto the waitlist online. By 5pm, the waitlist was already an hour and a half. We putzed over at 7pm and were seated within ten minutes. All ordering is on a tablet. Sometimes the cat robot delivers your food, most of the time it's a human. Sushi can take a while to get to your table, especially rolls. All apps seemed like they had been previously frozen, and cooked entrees and apps are likely huge batch made. Some drinks, like the boba, are free!!! Other drinks, like teas, are 5$. I did get the taro milk tea with some jelly. SO GOOD. I was shocked, didn't taste like powder milk tea at all. They don't have regular tapioca, and you're forced to get at least 1 with your drink. Service was great. Definitely a fun place to try a ton of random things, or if you have a large party. We waited a long time to try this place, and I'm so glad we did.

AN ABSOLUTE AMAZE, AMAZE, AMAZE - Well only during lunch time though!!! $21 for endless Sushi and Oriental food with amazing taste is as good as a dream thee days!! We went on a Friday afternoon around 12 and there was about a 30 min wait - moving pretty fast. You have to register with your phone number and they text you when your table is almost ready. That's when you need to go back to the front desk, otherwise you lose your spot in like 10 mins!!! Once we got seated, we had to order from a small tablet on the table. They tell you to order most of your food in the first round because after you submit it, the menu gets locked for 15 mins. Little annoying I guess. We started with a bunch of specialty (non vegan and non raw) sushi and around 5 appetizers (fried calamari, wings, shrimp, suimai, dumplings etc). Everything tasted really good, especially the specialty rolls. The steamed dumplings, fried rock shrimp and wings were also solid. We were not hungry after the first round. Second round we went for chicken fried rice and hibachi shrimp and honestly that hit the spot - chicken fried rice was the best!! Then we ended with sesame balls and called it a day. Food quality was honestly top notch and the taste was great overall. The decor is simple but has a nice Japanese vibe, feels inviting. Service could have been a bit quicker but the place was packed so kind of expected. We were seated near the bar so none of the robots actually served us, but we did see one moving human like robot around waving at guests haha. Honestly, dinner has a few more specialty sushi and main options included, but I don't think you are missing much for paying $15 extra. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch.

Le bf and I went on a Friday for lunch and a couple hours after they opened, there was already about an hour ish wait. So I highly recommend making sure you check and get on the waitlist before heading over! Once seated, it was PACKED and pretty loud with everyone surrounding you. Our waiter was super cool and answered all our questions. We went ham on the crab rangoons, ordered 4 times! I also ordered a couple sashimi, Kani salad, this tuna ball with crab meat inside (highly recommend that), steamed dim sum items, just anything and everything! I enjoyed everything EXCEPT the baked mussels. They were plain mussels with crab meat on top, little to almost no sauce or anything that typically goes with baked mussels, ick! The rest, delish!

We tried this place out when visiting KC for the weekend. We did not realize if was all you can eat till we were on the waiting list inside the restaurant. For the price $35 per person, you would expect the customer service to be a bit more than it was. No one greeted us, our waiter wasn't attentive. They have a robot serve some of the food to the tables. For $35 pp drinks are not Included, which seems kinda crazy. The food was ok. But definitely not $35 all you can eat worth. For what we paid for a family of 4 we could have gone to a nicer more upscale restaurant. I've had better sushi at other places locally. I would have enjoyed more attentive service. This place has a strict "leftovers" policy meaning they charge your for uneaten food that you leave.

This new restaurant offered a unique, first-rate buffet experience during my dine-in lunch. I liked the extensive menu, the made to order buffet approach and the cheerful service. It was a great opportunity to try foods new to me including squid salad, gyoza, Alaska roll, dim sum, udon and a sesame ball. This Japanese, Chinese, Thai restaurant offered an extensive buffet (and takeout dishes) with 88 (by my count) lunch items including soups, salads, appetizers, skewers, maki rolls, sushi rolls, deep fried rolls, dim sum, Chinese entrées, hibachi grill, ramen soup, udon, pad thai, rice and desserts. The 140 item (by my count) dinner menu was more extensive and more exotic with options including octopus and more salmon options. The dinner menu also added sushi appetizers and sashimi. Dinner items were available during lunch, but for a small surcharge per item. Items were ordered via the touchpads located at each table and delivered by robot to your table. The menu pictures showed portion size and helped me to select items I had never tried before. The time from order entry to robot delivery ranged from four to 12 minutes with items being delivered as they were ready instead of waiting for the entire order to be complete - nice! The minimum time between orders was set at 15 minutes, which was not an issue. I found the items to be fresh and at appropriate temperatures, since they were not sitting under a heat lamp like at other buffets. Every item was also nicely presented and delicious. The dining area was clean and new with upbeat contemporary background music, four areas and a sushi bar. Every member of the staff I encountered was cheerful and polite. Beverage orders and plate removal were handled promptly by the attentive waiter. The very reasonable buffet rules are: 1) order anything, as much as you like, 2) please finish what you order, 3) leftovers may be charged, 4) no takeout for AYCE meals. Adult lunch buffet prices (11A-3P M-F) are currently $21 adult and $11 kids (4-11), while dinner prices are currently $36 adult and $15 kids (4-11). Overall, excellent! It's a good addition to the OP area!

    Easy to use!

Very happy with our lunch today. Arrived at 1130am, no wait for a table. Our human server arrived promptly to see if we needed help ordering on the tabletop kiosk. (Nope! It's very easy!) Food arrived relatively fast. Human server brought all the items from the kitchen and the robot delivered our sushi. Fun touch and still glad they are employing real people alongside to humanize the experience. Everything was delicious. Everything! We had crab Rangoon, shrimp tempura, gyoza, and both beef and chicken skewers as appetizers. Then we dove headfirst into the sushi menu and never managed to escape. Would like to come back and try many of my other favorites like pad thai and soup dumplings but didn't want to overdo it today! Fried Oreos for dessert were the perfect little bite to end the meal. The decor is so much better than the old Applebee's... Beautiful style and feels elevated and fresh.

My kids and I love sushi. We tried this restaurant for the first time this weekend and loved it! We all agreed it is our new favorite place. One learning curve... once you place an order from a certain category- you have to wait 15 minutes to place another one. Additionally- if you add items to your 'cart' on the table top system- and wait too long to place it- your cart will get emptied. We ordered the perfect amount of food so didn't have anything leftover. Fried Oreos were a favorite- we got three orders. My personal favorite was the sashimi. It was fresh and tasty. We only ordered sushi, the soup dumplings and dessert. Our waiter was helpful, kind and attentive. The space is cool. Used to be a Chili's but you'd never know. We also loved talking to the table guests around us for recommendations and our next trip.

Amazing new addition to OP. We walked in on a Saturday at around 4:30 and were told the wait would be about 2 hours. We ended up deciding to wait and boy was it worth it! The food tasted really fresh and their sushi was surprisingly high quality for a buffet. We got seated pretty quickly as soon as our number was up. We enjoyed the vibe and it was overall a really positive experience

Rainbow Roll. Not bad, but not great either. No depth of flavors.

Wonderful service! Our waiter was super knowledgeable and helpful and kept our drinks refilled- even offered us to-go beverages. Love that! Wish I could say the food was wonderful too. Most items were just lacking flavor. The kiosk ordering system is super easy and food is brought out promptly, but I don't like that you can't switch out some ingredients. My friend got the fried rice but it had so many onions in it she couldn't finish it. The hibachi chicken and steak were good and my sushi was decent- better than, say, gas station sushi haha, but if I'd gotten it at an actual sushi restaurant I would've been disappointed. Again- it was just lacking flavor. This is a very family friendly place- the kiosk ordering system and the robot that brings out some of your food would be very fun for kids. If this had existed 15 years ago, my daughter would've been obsessed with this place. It's very busy and I understand why, because the menu is so big! But if you want a quiet evening out with really good Asian food, this is not the place.

AIOE has been getting so much traction with all the social media (good on them!), so I had to try it for myself. I think, for the price of two people being $80, soft drinks and water should be free. They offer so many fancy beverages, which make sense to charge for, but anything off the gun/machine.. should be included. The whole system is a bit overwhelming. There are SO many options, which is nice, but they have a strict policy when it comes to leftovers. Shrimp tempura was my favorite appetizer. I'll pass on the sushi/sashimi, just didn't appeal. I would like to go back for lunch maybe and try the fried rolls, but for this stop, I stuck to just the fish. It was fine. A lot of items were grouped in 3s. Three pieces of shrimp tempura, three soup dumplings, etc. kind of weird. The place used to be an Applebees, but they have definitely revamped the look. Only true complaints I have about the decor is the slick floors that lead in/out of the kitchen by the bathrooms, I suppose that is why they do not have a bar (LOL).

All you can eat for $36! Great experience. The wait was 1.5 hours but worth it. Food came out quick. Ambiance was nice and staff was friendly. The sushi rolls were disappointing - everything else was very very good. We loved the salmon and crab wrap the best (forget the name) and dumplings. The strawberry ice cream was some of the best I've ever had!

Open for only 2 weeks, word has spread! This was the 2nd attempt at eating here because the first time, the wait was over 2 hours long. Since they do not offer reservations or calling ahead, I highly suggest stopping in, checking the wait, and putting your number on the list. You have 15 min from when your table is ready to get in and check in, so stay close. The amount of food options is a LOT. Everything from appetizers (crab rangoon was amazing), shrimp skewers, dumplings, sushi, Thai, and Chinese dishes and dessert. The food came out fairly quick and was really good. The only complaint I have is the dessert. We ordered three and split them all with the table. The fried oreos, cheesecake and tempura cheesecake. The oreos were mushy and the two cheesecakes temperature was frozen in the middle and hot on the ends. The main dishes though saved the meal. It was delicious. Can't wait to come back and see what else I can try!

What happens if I bring my own vessel to take leftovers home, how would they monitor that?

    No. Like most buffets.

What happens if we order a dish and don't like it? Do we still have to finish it to avoid a charge for uneaten food?

The menu says they will charge you but there seems to be some grace if you just don't like it. It feels like they are just trying to prevent waste which I get since in the long run it keeps prices low.

By the time I grabbed our food and headed back out, the front spots had already opened up again. We did two lunch specials for around $20 total, which feels like a steal for how much food you get and how good it was. We ordered the Chicken with Cashew and the General Tso's lunch specials, both came with soup and a side. The cashew chicken was seriously incredible. A lot of places overload this dish with veggies until it turns into chaos, but this one was balanced with the right mix of ingredients and is easily one of my new favorites in KC. Only bummer: hardly any cashews. Still delicious, but I wanted a little more cashew love. Crab rangoons were hot and crispy with a solid filling even after a bit of a drive home. The fried rice had great flavor, and the steamed white rice was bouncy and soft, not that kind with crispy dry edges. Both soups were spot on, and THANK YOU for including wonton strips. A lot of places skip them and it really can make or break egg drop soup for me. General Tso's had great flavor, but the chicken pieces were a little big and it wasn't very spicy, even though we didn't order it no spicy. Not a dealbreaker, just something to know if you want that classic kick. Inside is clean and cute with tables for about 8 to 10 small groups, the front desk is toward the back, and everyone was kind and helpful. As an Elite, I also loved seeing their Yelp pride around the restaurant. Overall, super solid lunch specials and I'll absolutely be back!!

Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. It took them a little longer than I was quoted but it wasn't too much longer. The interior was very small with a capacity of 10. They do have a table but that's pretty much it. You get either white or fried rice. I went with fried. And it comes with an egg roll and a crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was large and had a sweet flavor to it. FYI: They use imitation crab for my friends with shellfish allergies. I also ordered an additional order of Rangoon and I wasn't disappointed with that decision. I think the egg roll was just a veggie one, they do have a pork and chicken option. It was fine but I preferred the Rangoon. I would try the other egg roll options in the future. I also added on a hot mustard sauce. That's a must. It's spicy. The beef and broccoli was really good. The broccoli was fresh and there were a few carrots. The beef was tender and without that weird fatty, gristly stuff. Definitely good quality. The fried rice was a bit plain. It's literally just fried rice, no veggies or egg. But it's also not at an up charge so I can't really complain. I also ordered egg drop soup. It's delicious and such a good value. I highly recommend it. I definitely plan on returning to try a few other menu options.

Their menu consists of a lot of dishes, and some are quite unique .. you don't usually see items like bird's nest dishes at most Chinese restaurants around here except for maybe Bolings. Me and my husband visited on a Saturday night around 8 pm and really devoured our meal. The menu can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but you honestly can't go wrong with stir fries at any Chinese restaurant. For appetizers, we ordered chicken egg rolls, which were hefty and filling. For the main course, I ordered the chicken in black bean stir fry, and my husband got the shrimp Kung Pao chicken stir fry. We paired both with steamed rice. The black bean chicken was rich and earthy, with that deep, slightly funky flavor from the fermented black beans. It was very umami, salty and complimented nicely with the fresh, crisp vegetables and well-cooked chicken. I really liked it. The shrimp Kung Pao was spicy and tangy, with perfectly cooked shrimp (the fried shrimp covering was chefs kiss) and crispy veggies. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The egg rolls were about $4 for two pieces, and the stir fries were around $17+ each. The portions are quite large compared to other places in the area, so the pricing seemed reasonable. The standout dish was definitely the bird's nest--it had the best flavor overall. The duck was a bit too fatty, and the calamari was heavily battered and greasy. Service was just okay--nothing memorable.
