The store is bigger than it looks like from the front. There are always specials going on, e.g. a bag full of books for $4; Pet supplies buy 1 get 1 FREE etc. I found varieties of goodies with very reasonable prices! I would definitely go back and shop more~! read more

Sometimes the measure of a store is not the merchandise, but the service in the place. I came right before closing time and was greeted with the fact that they were closing in 4 minutes. I appreciate that the shop is probably largely staffed by volunteers, and that they wanted to leave for the day, but that is no excuse for being really RUDE to someone who just wants to look around for a couple of minutes and, perish the thought, give some money to their cause. The woman (an older lady who looked like my dear departed Grandmother) who met me in the back room was so NASTY to me that I will probably never return to this little shop (sad to say because I am an avid thrifter). Being a volunteer is no excuse, this woman should not be working with the public! She does not know how to speak to them properly, especially in a retail setting. I would advise this shop to lock the door 5 minutes early if this is such a big problem (it's not that hard to figure out). And I would advise the public to stay away unless they can adhere to this shop's strict policies. Not very enjoyable if you are just looking for a little break in your day with a quick, fun trip to a thrift store. read more

I've wanted to visit this place for years and finally got the opportunity two weeks ago. Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't force the issue sooner. What a gem! I only had a few minutes to shop but managed to fill two bags full of goodies! Four English china egg cups for only $2.50 - how could ANYONE pass that up???!!! Unlike the GoodWill thrift store, the prices here are accessible. I really can't justify spending $20 for a manky jacket at GoodWill that I'll have to spend $40 to dry clean. I can justify it if it is only $5. These people know how to price their items correctly! Plus, it is larger on the inside than on the outside so you're bound to find something good. I found this store thanks to yelp and the reviews appealed to me. I would have never noticed this place because I never go to the stores surrounding it so I'm glad I found this place. I'm a huge animal lover so I love the fact that they donate some of their proceed's to the shelter's (I might be wrong and the proceed's may just go to ARF itself), either way I like their intentions AND I like the fact that I could bring my dog inside to go shopping with me. Inside: - Has that thrift store smell, which I don't mind. - Dressing rooms. - Lots of clothes to look at, all color coordinated. - Like a lot of people have said, this place is bigger than what I expected. ARF is great if you love treasure-hunting. Also, the thrift shop helps support animals and how great is that. Easy altruism or better yet, helping with your dollars. The bargains are great. If you have an eye for treasures, you may find cool stuff here. Today, I found a great jacket, two t-shirts and one thermal hoodie (all items looked brand new, by the way), all for seven bucks! They have a huge back area that is full of different things. If you are down to browse and hunt for goodies, you will like it here. The only minus for me is no A/C in the store and I'm not a spoiled brat, but it does get super hot in the summer and browsing in a tepid store with a bit of a musty smell kind of distracts from the task at hand-treasure-hunting :0) but I still like the store! read more

I love this thrift store! The people there are so nice and everything here is pretty cheap ($0.25-$6.00 range). I bought a couple bandanas for dogs for 50 cents each and some new tennis balls for 10 cents each. They have some other non dog related stuff too but I didn't look too much into it. read more

Came here to look for China dishes. Got here before they closed. Sign says they close @ 4pm. Weird. CLOSED sign was already up prior to 4pm. If I could give ZERO stars I would! We love this place! We shop here at least twice a month-- whether we need to or not! The photos are not so good; the place is acually roomy, sunny and full of wonderful bargains. (My wife calls it her "Macy's). We never come home without something: a great travel book I've been looking for for 50 cents , a nice shirt, a DVD, or perhaps just a knick-knack for 1$ that looks good on the shelf. We've even bought some great bedsheets and comforters for practically nothing, almost-new shoes, even a cute copper teapot almost for free! We also buy many cheap pet supplies to donate to animal charities overseas. We also BRING donations every time we come. People in our apartment throw away all kinds of things from books to clothes to household items, and we store it in our car trunk and drop it off whenever we go. Every item helps the animals. ARF Thriftstore is the best. I have been to all in CCCounty and this one is large. There is a big room of clothing, all priced very low. On the last day I was there, all jeans and denim items were $1. There is a nice room of dishes and glassware and a very large room of assorted, low cost, items. The books are numerous and most 25 cents. I always find clean clothes, jewelry, collectibles and books I can't seem to be without. If you have never been to ARF, you owe it to yourself to come. It is on the backside of the Park-n-Shop shopping Mall, back behind Burlington Coat Factory. There is a group of one story buildings there including Weight Watchers. See you at ARF. read more

Being a huge animal lover (adopted all 3 cats from ARF), I'm an avid supporter of this thrift store. My teenager also loves to thrift because she's looking for one-of-a-kind clothes. Today, we had an unfortunate encounter with a woman named Candy. My daughter was trying on several things & I guess someone must have complained that she's in there longer than she should. I already told my daughter to hurry up & she was but this grumpy woman had the audacity to knock on her door & said "You need to get out right now". I was so shocked by her rudeness. We still bought a bunch of stuff but this lady should learn to be more polite - just because this is a thrift store doesn't mean you can treat people like that. Shame on you Candy! read more

I just discovered this place and so far I've had really good luck. They have a wide variety of ware- not as clothes focused as Goodwill. Prices are low and store is pretty organized. Limited hours and closed Sunday so check before you head over. Most importantly this is a great place to donate. Profits directly support the Animal Rescue Foundation rather than the pseudo non-profit corporate machine that Goodwill has become. read more

Love ARF Mart, been coming here for years to find great treasures. Like any other second hand store you have to look and shift though some stuff to find the quality goods. I have found a nice antique 40's couch, golf clubs as well as brand new boxes of greeting cards for 25 cents. All their monies go to the Animal rescue foundation. read more

While I totally support ARF, this store needs some SERIOUS help. The clothes are horrible and way overpriced, the employees are not very nice, and I do not like the Manager AT ALL. Went back about a month ago and had a great experience with FOUR different people who were working there: I dropped a glass by accident, and the volunteer who hustled over with a broom, and insisted on sweeping up, THANKED me for waiting until she got there (I wanted to make sure no one stepped on the shards). This store is decent. The employees were kind of BLAH, there was only one lady who really helped us, and I didn't get to catch her name! But she was awesome :) We got 2 hats and 2 pairs of jeans for $5.98 and we got a whole bag of books for $5. :) I will definitely go back for some more books eventually! read more

Sorry to rate this a 1, but I have tried to shop here twice & the people behind the counter were rude AF each time. The last time I made it in 5 minutes before closing. There was no way I was able to make it in earlier. I've worked in retail, I know how annoying this is, I apologized, but was not able to make it in there any sooner on that day. I asked if it would be alright if I took a quick look. The high strung guy was like, "You have 2 minutes!" The other lady asked if I was looking for something specific. I was simply looking for Disney kids clothes. One person said they didn't have any kids clothes, then the other person backed them up with, well we might, but that room is already closed. The whole shop is overwhelmed with stuff like the livingroom of someone on Hoarders. So I left & won't be back. It's sad, because ARF is such a great non-profit & I wanted to support them, but not when you have people acting like that. read more

I recently went out to East Hampton to visit family and stopped by the Arf Thrift Store on my way. I used to live in Sag Harbor so I'm quite familiar with all the good that Arf does. I was incredibly impressed with the variety and quality of the furnishings and the salesperson couldn't have been more helpful. I have been going here since 1998. I bought an old RCA television for $40 that STILL works to this day. They have very good bargains and everything is in good shape. Sure some of the elderly ladies who are volunteers may be cranky but they are giving of their time. This place is huge. 3 rooms I think. The main front room is great. They usually decorate the window for the season and have seasonal items for sale on display. Lots and Lots of clothing for the whole family all neatly displayed. I bought pet Halloween costumes here in Oct. The middle room has home decor items. Love this thrift store. If you drive by it, you might think it is pretty small, but it is actually rather large inside. As you walk in, you will see handbags to your left and framed pictures to your right. There are also a couple of glass cabinets where they store the china, jewelry, and other nice items. You will need to ask for assistance as the cabinets are locked. Further in, you will find clothing/shoes. Keep walking and you will get to a large kitchenware section, and even further you will enter a very large room where they store books, home goods, linens, and furniture. I defy you to visit and walk out empty handed! Okay, thrift stores are hit or miss and you just might but because it is so large, your odds are greater you will walk out with something. I have bought a couple of china plates that were nicely priced.They also have specials. When I was last in, everything with an orange tag was 50% off. I have been in this place twice the 1st time was very nice and I felt like I got a great but fair deal on the used tennis balls for my dog. The older gentlemen who helped me was very pleasant and only charged me 5 cents per ball which was awesome and very fair because they were used and most were dirty.I bought 80 of them. About a month later after my dog chewed a hole in the last one I went back and picked up 80 more and the grumpy lady behind the counter asked how many I had and I replied 80 my dog loves them and for 5 cents each its ok he chews 4 day. Then her eyes got really big and she said these are not 5 cents these are 50 cents a ball and asked me why I would just assume they were 5 cents. I said the nice gentleman last time told me they were 5 cents thats why I bought so many she then called the manager and said I was underchaged last time and if she had been there she wouldnt have let me get away with that. Well I wasnt stealing them and I was made out to look like a swindler and tightwad in front of other people just because I didnt want to pay 50 cents for a ball thats dirty and used when I could go and get new ones for the same price. So 2 stars maybe they will get better people in there and I'll give it another try. read more
